I received my notice that I've fallen out of the Powerseller status. Let's see...generally speaking the summer months stink (vacation times and back to school). Oh and then that little thing that happened here in NY (that we'll never forgive or forget). So I bumped up 400-500 auctions in Oct. I get notice from ebay, I'm not meeting their tithings? ..per se. My question is- should I dump them on the Powerseller status? ..and tell them I don't want it anymore, ignore it? or work my *ss off and increase my tithings to the great god ebay...? I'm opting to tell them to remove me from Powerseller status, since I haven't really had any advantages since I became a Powerseller a couple years ago... Meg? need a new pair of shoes or something?

In general, who really cares whether you're an eBay Powerseller or not? Are there any perks I'm not aware of? It seems as meaningless as the stars they display for each level of feedback ratings.

I wouldn't sweat the issue too much...
The PowerSeller Program, in its current state, offers no real benefit to its members. The ability to use the logo and have phone contact with the company is nothing much to get excited about and certainly does nothing to improve sales.
I recommend that you sell in the volume that makes you comfortable and that you forget all the hoopla about the Powerseller's program. It's a ineffective attempt to recognize, assist and unite eBay's selling soldiers. Nothing else.
Perhaps if they were to make a personal "thank you" phone call to us or send us a free sweatshirt or Christmas card, we would see things differently, but I suppose we're asking a bit much from a small company who only provides them with a measly $25-30K in revenue per year.

Don't worry about it -- what do you really get from PowerSellers! Oh that right nothing!
I was booted of PowerSellers in the summer after receiving the email that told me I must be selling wrong. Yeah right - I was running 500 auctions a week for three years. It never crossed Ebay's mind that maybe - just maybe - I deceided not to list 500 auctions a week any more.... There is life other than Ebay and it is good....

Precisely! I'm emailing them and demanding they take me off their list as a Powerseller in protest of their lack of doing anything for Powersellers! Who cares about it! I didn't when they gave it to me and now that I've been warned... So, Thanks for the feedback folk's, much appreciated. I'm dumping the logo!
I just sent them a request for removal! Ah! That felt good.

Good for you!
IMO, the Powerseller program is worth only slightly more than the new "recognition" program

Man, you're willing to give up being able to put a giant *ss Power Seller Logo on your auctions???? Are you mad???
That logo, in itself, is a true reward for being a Power Seller! You can make it big, you can make it small, you can make it the only picture in your whole auction, you can make it bigger than the picture of the item you are actually selling - so many possibilites!
(I say all of this with my tongue in cheek)
Drop Power Seller status! Who cares - it's not like ebay's doing anything for you!

I have been a Power Seller since the program started and will probably get a notice soon because I have not sold much for the last 2 months. I have never used the logo and used the email address 2 times.
Both times having the email address ment that I got an email within a couple of hours telling me my email was forwarded to the proper department and would hear from them soon. Then within a couple of days I recieved the answer to my question.
So my thoughts on the Power Seller program is WHO CARES??? It was a worthless program made up to give those of us doing eBay full time a title. I don't need a title. A break on fees would have been nice.

I have been with that program since it started. I never use the logo, never call their number or identify myself with the program. I got the warning letter stating that I might be removed from the program because for falling below the magic number. So what....I ignored the letter and never heard from them again. I don't know if I am a p-seller or not.

Last spring they gave me a warning. Then they gave me awhile to smarten up. I continued being a slacker and one day I got the letter that they booted me.
But they do say that if you meet your quotas you can have another chance at becoming a powerseller once again.
I think they should offer powersellers incentives like lower listing fees, free listing days once in awhile, etc.
I don't miss it because there were no real benefits.
Anyone can steal the logo.

As I said earlier I requested off of the Powerseller program. Here's the response I got from ebay- If more dumped out of the program ebay might realize it's a selfserving program...but worthless to the seller. Show me one benefit of being a powerseller that has put money in your pocket directly! None! I am now self removed. Try getting me back as a powerseller ebay. Best of luck.

this powerseller idea was created a few years back when ebay was going strong with this person to person business, now they are more into corporate accounts and store fronts and international.
loading the power logo just take up time and space.
no benefits at all.
wonder how many have been removed??

I got the same letter, big deal. I was at one time alot more eBay friendly. The scope of the letter interested me. It was basically spam to get me to bulk list 100's of auctions using eBay's management program (more fees!).
Do you suppose the folks at powersellers know that the folks in billing haven't billed for September sales yet? How can a gorilla like eBay forget to bill? What the heck do they have up their sleeve? Only time will tell
But, I may be neutral on eBay,

There is nothing more crassly irritating than the HUGE logo many sellers insist on prominently placing in their auctions (some sellers think if one is good three is better) -- as though it means anything. Some use it in place of a description.
If there are two identical items and the only difference is that includes the PS logo, I will go with the non-ps auction....

it only takes 2000 dollar worth of sales per month to be a bronze powerseller,so if you only do 2000 per month for 3 months, you will stay in the program
but then what are the benefits?/

Got the same spam myself. It didn't impress me when I got the status and sure didn't do anything for me. Now if they had sent me a crown to wear while I'm ebaying, that might have impressed me! (Burger King used to have them.) bottom line... who gives a crap? Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I just happened to sell two rather large-dollar items in one month, a couple of years ago. A one-time happening. I was immediately declared a power seller, even though I told them that it was a fluke. They sent both me and my DH (I declared him as a partner, even though he couldn't find eBay on a bet) a tshirt for our birthdays that year. After a while, I got the threat of removal, then several months later the removal. Oh well; I never even considered using the logo on my piddly little auctions, and haven't had one in over a year now.
And this is just a posting id, now, maybe a buying one someday.

Got this letter today from my Powerseller rep-
Hello, xxxx
Thank you for emailing us. I will be happy to answer your
question.
Sales History:
September: $xxx.xx
August: $xxx.xx
July: $xxx.xx
June: $xxx.xx
May: $xxx.xx
The requirement for the program is $2000 a month. You agreed to keep
this up for two out of every last three months.
This was not as an effect of the recent tragedies. Your sales have not
met the requirements since this spring. Sales on eBay have been up as a
whole for the month of September despite the attacks.
Good luck and thanks for choosing eBay.
Regards,
xxxx L. M.

Hmmm... funny as a Powerseller I haven't received any benefits in the last 3 years! So what is ebay worried about me for? Should'nt I be worried about them doing something for me as a powerseller in general? Nah, like I said, I dumped out of the program even though they haven't dumped me out yet!

I don't know about you, but the 2 e-mails that you've shared that eBay sent you sound to me like they couldn't care less about their sellers... They couldn't care less about your e-mail requesting removal from the program, and this last one sounds like they couldn't care less that your sales are down. Kind of discouraging really. I have never had powerseller status (I'm really broken up about that too... ), and I've luckily never had a major problem that was urgent for me to get an answer from anyone at eBay... So, why should we care about them, and their stupid program that has no benefits??

ebay doesn't care and they never have.
I did get a email/survey from them the other day asking questions about the power seller logo. short survey can't really remember but I think it was only three questions. I didn't submit the survey but one of the questions was something like, "would you like to be recognized as a power seller with a logo by your selling name"
If everyone HAD to have the logo by your name it would be interesting how many would stay or how many would bail out of the program.
eBay fees are like being slowly pecked to death by chickens!!!

THERE ARE ADVANTAGES to not being a PowerSeller on eBay. For one, a lot of bidders (me, for one)won't bid on their auctions.
Most of their prices are too high and they are always the ones with all the extra rules and regulations in their TOS.
The PowerSeller Logo is a liability, not an asset.

I'm a power seller, and my prices are not "too high", I don't have any "extra rules and regulations" in my TOS, and I don't use the PS logo in my auctions. The only reason I joined was in the remote chance that I might need a quick response from CS. So far I've only used the PS rep email once, and they did respond much more quickly than had I used the regular CS contact form.
I agree with the others, the Power Smeller program is pretty much a pathetic joke.

I've invited ebay to this thread to tell us what the advantage of being a Powerseller is. Imagine that. I've removed the PS logo and no signs of being a PS on my auctions. Best of luck to all. Hopefully ebay will come and answer our questions or listen to our comments.

Empires, don't hold your breath. Take time to address us measly sellers? Ebay is out for the $, and buyers, not the sellers who made them what they are! It was a good idea and would be great if they gave a ----. I hope things pick up for everyone, I sell a little but I know a lot of sellers depend on sales. I will be doing what I can to help!I rather Ebay than hit the mall for Christmas. I just want to say thanks to everybody for all the sharing that goes on here! Cindy

One of my accounts is a Gold PowerSeller account and it has many benefits.
We have a dedicated Account Rep who bends over backwards to help us out. She has smoothed out several VERO problems we had, fixed billing errors within 24 hours and removed negative feedback from our account. She responds quickly to our email and calls from time to time to see if there is anything else EBAY can do for us.
I'll agree that Bronze and Silver level Powerseller accounts are not that valuable but if you get to the Gold level, you are talking a whole new ball game.
BTW, we do not use the logo in our auctions.

JMHO, but anyone who is a Power Seller must be dealing in large volumes. I would think service would suffer when you have that many auctions to deal with. How would you have the time to offer personal service? Bidders are also more likely to get one of those impersonal Auction Management post-auction messages from a Power Seller, in addition to slow response time in shipping. You'd be just another # to a Power Seller. I'd prefer dealing with a lower volume seller with great feedback, and a focus on Customer Service. Besides, the Power Seller logo is ostentatious.
