Have you tried contacting the Attorney General of the state in which the seller resides? In Illinois, the Attorney General handles fraud cases like this. I doubt they can get your money back for you, but they will keep a record of the complaint and investigate this seller if enough complaints come in.

No, I haven't. But like I suggested above, I don't think I will ever get even part of my money back, and I don't want to spend any more on this with long distance telephone calls etc. I was simply trying to alert eBay to a crook on their venue, but they have proven to me that they don't care.

The seller, by the way, is in Kansas for "some" of his listings and another state for others.

Today, he has a total of 15 listings for these illegal and misrepresented VCRs. Anyone care to guess why, at around $300.00 each, eBay doesn't want to take action against this seller?

I thought that this forum was for ebay problems?

So you bought an item that you know is illegal to use for its intended purpose, or for the purpose you intended to us it for. You cut ebay out of the deal, which is against ebays rules and is grounds for suspension. After you bought the item that you knew was illegal you try to get ebay to end the sellers other auctions because the items are illegal per federal law, which is now only a problem because the item you bought will not break those very laws.

It's true that you have a beef with this person but it doesn't have anything to do with ebay.

You contacting ebay It's like calling up the news paper and getting mad at them because you bought something that was advertised in their paper and telling them they need to stop taking their money and stop advertising for them. It will never happen and it never should. If you plan on dealing in illegal merchandise from the start don't start complaining when something goes wrong.

Kind of like the guy that calls the cops because he just got ripped off for 20 bucks, they show up and question the other person, sure enough they took their money and didn't give them what they paid for. So what were you trying to buy? Drugs, Ok I guess you both can go with the nice gentleman.

To answer your question,
So, how "safe" do you eBay buyers feel now??
I feel real safe as a ebay buyer, and seller, because I wouldn't deal in something that is against the law in the first place, and if I find it on ebay, unless maybe they have a web site where I can use a credit card, the sale will go through ebay.

eBay fees are like being slowly pecked to death by chickens!!!

There is absolutely nothing illegal about the item I bought. The problem is, and the reason I bought the VCR from him, is that they cannot be purchased in Canada. The seller tried to do me for another $84.00 to "upgrade" the unit I purchased to one that does break Macro and I told him I have no interest or need for that feature. Please go back and re-read what I said and revise your statements. As it is right now, you are making some very serious and some very false written accusations about me. Please do this before I contact AW.

It's true that you have a beef with this person but it doesn't have anything to do with ebay

If you don't think the facts that:

- eBay is knowingly allowing a member to sell illegal merchandise, and,
- eBay is knowingly allowing a member to misrepresent warranties in his listings, and,
- eBay is knowingly allowing a member to sell direct thus avoiding their fees, and,
- eBay is knowingly allowing a member to disregard the terms of his deals with other members, and,
- eBay is knowingly allowing a member to rip off his customers on shipping charges.

then I guess you're right .. it does have nothing to do with eBay.

I hope you never encounter a similar human being on or off eBay

Yes, and by the same token they could have suspended your account for the same violation.

BTW - Didn't eBay suspend your account in the past? And just out of curiousity, how many sellers have you reported in the past for selling illegal items?

My guess is that eBay has your account on IGNORE.

Just a hunch.
