I only posted 115 (make that 116 times) but I like to think each one was a quality post!

14 months since registering, more since lurking.

Bye all!

Bill,

I guess it was better than having 666 posts.

Now I guess we'll just have to Blame Canada.

This is my 7th or 8th ID.... I can't even remember some of my previous ones, but most were abandoned because of privacy issues. A few were ruined because AW thought I was posting under two IDs, and then they were not able to give me the old IDs back.

For a long while I was "WaspStar"... Before that, I was my eBay ID, but like most folks gave that up due to harassment.

I'm going to miss the answers and questions on this board. I'm not going to miss the silly moderation (any mention of AuctionWatch not doing well financially always met with instant deletion, as if my mentioning it here would make it worse).

Most of all, I'll remember Jeff Buckley!

Edited to add: This last post was #67, minus about 10 that were deleted by moderators. I probably had about 300 under previous user IDs.

Post #77 w/ this ID (probably 400-500 with all ID's). Will miss the place, but I'm sure another will come along that will offer the same good chat/information without the unnecessary restrictions.

May 17th 1999 655 posts later....

It's been fun, educational and a great time waster I have a feeling my income will be up in the following months.

Sadly, a fond adieu from me, as well.

I have really enjoyed it here. Lurked a lot more than I posted. Gained a wealth of information, had more than a few chuckles, had my hackles raised a few times, looked forward to the morning ritual of checking in to see what's new.

Thank you AW for being here, for making it fun and informative. I wish you all the best in your new format.

I don't know where everyone else is going, but I'm heading for Carnaby.

Adieu!

2695 for me since April of 1999 .. I'll keep going until I hit the dreaded "Please enter your credit card number before proceeding" screen, then I'm gone too.

In case that happens before I want to say something else, I wish the best for all of the AW Team and the many friends I have met here.

why are some of you reluctant to provide cc information??

If you scan some of the posts here, you'll find all kinds of reasons.

If I may ask you, what does having a cc number have to do with a person's integrity?

Seems to me a credit card is simply a way to make it easier to spend money. If AW has no intention of taking our money for the pleasure of being able to talk to each other on their forums, my 2nd question to you is why do they need to have this information?

decocat ~ Would you give your CC information in another Chat Room type forum? I don't think most people would. It's ridiculous to request that in order to post.

Why all of a sudden do they (AW) need a credit card number from me? {to prove I am who I say I am}
There was never any question about who I was before, I suppose that the moderators knew I was who I said I was probably the same way the "Great Carnac" knew all of the questions!

Can't speak for anyone else, but I see it as a precursor for fees to use the forum. Read the fee agreement:

AuctionWatch may change the Fees Policy effective seven days after those changes have been posted on our website and may add new fees effective immediately upon posting the new fees.

Sheesh, dunno how many posts I have done.....never kept track but have had 3 or 4 ID's over the years this board has been around....Like everyone else, I eliminated my Ebay user ID for privacy issues also.....Anyway, its been a great time, and I am outta here too....there are a couple of other boards where everyone else seems to have gone but I cannot mention the URLS here or I will get blipped.....One is on the Yahoo Clubs site and the other one is OTWA, maybe this will get thru without being censored.....Sure gonna miss AW but there are tooooo many fees already cutting into my pie without paying to post on a message board..... See ya on the other boards...

thanks all,now i know why some folks dont like providing cc info.
fee is a fact of life, there are less and less free services on internet and will just get worse as time goes by.
but i dont think i want to pay a fee for reading and posting .
i have never used any service to store pictures and drop items to auction, reason is i cant afford it.
for those of you do use such service, are you still using it now ?
has it been worth yourwhile in the past?

Check-out time for this bird, too. Also check out time on the big 'E' as well. (Due, of course, to the unwanted and hated 'check out' they were so gracious to inflict upon us!) Good luck, all. It's been a slice!

"What a long strange trip it's been..."
The Grateful Dead

December 26, 1999 302 posts and probably 100 more before that on another ID

Never did have the time to hang out here as much as I would've liked. Tried to follow all the "famous" threads but didn't have the time to get really involved.

EO has been a wealth of information for me...some controversy...a pile of laughs, and occasionally, a real hoot.

See ya on the flip side. Thanks y'all.

This should be about #326 for me since May.

Like RB, I'll probably keep adding my .02 up until the last minute.

In case I miss saying it later......

AW has been pretty quiet through all the "goodbye" threads, seems just a little odd. They also have not addressed any of the "...why not grandfather us in..." comments.

Could it be possible that current users will be grandfathered in, but they don't want to mention it to save a flood of last minute registrations?

I doubt it, but it's just a thought

It just seems unimaginably stupid to let all of that experience that makes this board what it is just go away.

If I want to access porn sites, I have to give my credit card number to verify my age. I know that kids use their parents credit cards to enable them to do this. Check out the credit card number exchanges that go on in kids chat rooms! No way am I giving my credit card to enter chat rooms

I think this will be my last AW post or very close to it because I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open. This is number 1345. I know it seems like I've made more than 1345 but that's because my posts are always sooooo long. It's too bad we aren't counting words. LOL

I've already said my good-byes so I'll see all of you over there>>>>>
