Ted Nugent wasn't the first concert I ever attended, but it was my first arena concert. Unfortunately it was on the "Wango Tango" tour.

My first concert was Dire Straits in a small theatre, just after they put out their second album -- you know, back when they were really good, long before they cranked out that Money For Nothing crap ... what a show that was!

But getting back to Nugent, he may be a "hunter/wacko" (which by the way made me think of Hunter Thompson). Nonetheless, "Stranglehold" still gives me goosebumps, and if I happen to be driving on the highway when "Cat Scratch Fever" comes across the radio my chances of catching a speeding ticket increase by 200%.

As for PETA, any organization that has Kim Basinger as one of its spokesmen is okay by me.

I saw Ted at the Cleveland Collisium in 1976. He is so bizarre, and I was so young, 16 at the time.

I do still like the guitar lead on Stranglehold...but I don't admit that to too many people.

Nugent didn't break the globe with feedback. A roadie crept up behind it and broke it.

When you add up the cost of a license -transportation -special hunting clothing and the land to hunt on or lodging to be near it you are far better of finacially to go down to the supermarket and buy filet mignon.
People hunt because it is a bond among friends and family, because it defines who they are, and for a chance to be off away from the wife and kids for awhile. Maybe some have sicko reasons but I have never meet any like that.
Sorry to say the person who hunts because he is poor and has to put food on the table in a rural area has been pretty much forced by the state to be a poucher. Limited seasons and bag limits along with high fees make sure hunting generates big tourism bucks for the state. The fact that it is almost always illegal to sell any game you have taken is aimed right at the very poorest of society.
Reserving the game for those who can afford to hunt for sport.

What was Nugent's feedback?

if hunting is a bond among family, what does it say for who they are spiritually? how does one tell a young child about having love and respect for all God's creatures and then tell them about hunting? can one of you hunter types tell us? p.s.- Nugent couldn't get any feedback-he was NARU'D for violating community guidelines!

"how does one tell a young child about having love and respect for all God's creatures and then tell them about hunting?"

Speaking for myself, if I needed to feed my family, I would explain to my children that we need to eat, and that utilizing the animal killed is necessary for our survival. To kill rabbits, and using the meat for stew, the coat for perhaps covering, like a coat. Utilizing what was killed for sustenance and survival. American Indians hunted Buffalo and deer and used ALL the animal. There is a difference of killing just for killing, versus killing to eat and stay warm.

edited to add that a swift kill is humane. American Indians gave thanks to each animal they had to kill.

franny- what the American Indians told their children years ago was probably much different than what a modern day family would. as well a family living in the mountains away from civilization or a very poor family in Appalachia for example. but what about a middle class urban or suburban 'church-going' family? i am talking about hunting wild animals when you do not have to do it for food.

I dont have a problem with people who go hunt. What I have a problem with is the method and reasons, and people who are like Nugent. If someone likes the taste of venison, then fine. If they like bear meat, good. Turkey? No problem. Rabbit stew? ok.

What I am thoroughly disgusted with at this time is that....persons gloating about an erection while killing something. I cant get it out of my head, and the snide way it was said. Am I the only one who is disgusted at it?

Using PETA propaganda is like asking a hardcore communist for his or her opinion of capitalism, or a Hari Krishna about Catholicism, or stusi about hunting.

sarge-or asking you to acknowledge that wackos like Ted Nugent exist. i am not fanatical about hunting as you would know if you carefully read my posts. i am, however, more concerned about the lack of honesty on the part of most hunters as to their real motives. franny- when macho men talk about macho things like hunting there are inevitably going to be some macho references for shock value when they know women are listening.

sgtmike, THIS offends and disgusts me:

"stusi

I do have to admit; when I put a shaft in the kill zone the physical effect on me is like that as described by Viagra users.

Lasts for an hour or more."

You don't often see Viagra and where one likes to place one's shaft mentioned in the same sentence here at AuctionWatch.

You should know what I experienced when I downed a charging boar. If I could have bottled it I would be a billionaire today.

I had to smoke several cigarettes and take a nap.

Would it help if you could view such statements by sgtmike as merely part of a continuous expression of his inadequacies?

FrannyS,

Rather than ask for embellishment as you've just done, consider a complaint.

I don't think that it's much of a reach to see sgtmike's posts, amplified directly to you as being in violation of that portion of the CGs which read "obscene, vulgar, or sexual references.

Ahem!

The CGs prohibit crude or explicit sexual references, and I believe the prurient comments concerning killing certainly qualify as crude if not explicit.

Knock it off.
