"Yep, that old AW logic strikes again -- "If too many people want it, better lock it up!"
Create your own co-op forum in Yahoo Clubs. Within 1 or 2 days your club will be listed and "co-op auction" or whatever will show up in the search.

dman3, better check again. All I got was the following:
Notice
Effective January 4, 2001, BN3 has discontinued its cost-free and ad-free web hosting service. Notice had been sent out to site administrators in early December. You are seeing this notice because the site administrator may not have time to move the site yet.
To site administrators, for further assistance, please submit support request here.
Sincerely,
BN3 Management

Not exactly a co-op but I thought someone had a great idea in one of the other threads concerning a collective of individual websites linked together. Maybe a banner exchange program and one main website as a central hub listing each sellers site with a general description of the sellers items.

All getting the error message may have been to my website before I change web hosting services.
Try either purgeing your browser cache or hitting refresh when you get the error message from Bn3 .
the new host has been working for about 20 hours and have already over 30 page hits in the last hour.

I've been following this discussions on AW and OTWA as well as elsewhere. I've formed a point of view and would like to share a few thoughts for your consideration.
1) I fully support the forming of a Co-op for individual and small business sellers.
2) I think it should offer support for ALL their online selling efforts. It could tie together all auction listings, show cases, web sites, classified listings, web rings, category specific co-ops, promotional efforts and even physical locations.
3) The cooperation in joint promotional efforts would be primary. The building of an on-site auction venue and/or a classified section (maybe using a modified Half.com model) could be incorporated into the overall co-op effort but would be secondary.
Focus on a new co-op auction venue puts the venture in competition with every other method and location that sellers are using and is divisive.
. Promoting all selling efforts is a unifying service that brings independent sellers together.
This approach could start small, have little initial cost, evolve to meet members needs and not risk the succeed/fail factor of "another" auction site.
Quite frankly, I also don't need another auction site with few buyers.
I would like a marketing oriented non-profit organization thru which a large number of independent sellers could communicate, work together for common goals, promote our sales activities and have large enough voice/power that we are "heard" by service providers. This does not exclude our own auction site but it is not dependent on a site for success.
My thoughts on these matters are a "work in progress".

dman3 - I just tried going to your site and I too am getting the message "Effective January 4, 2001, BN3 has discontinued..." etc. etc. I've never been to your site before so that can't be it.
