I don't know if it's because I use IE 5.5 but I only have to float my pointer over the Paypal logo to get the email add to appear.

You guys are super! I have learned more about Yahoo on the message boards than in all my poking around in Yahoo. Thanks to all of you.

To see all your auction with bids combines on 1 page: instead of the normal addresse----
http://user.auctions.yahoo.com/show/mystatus?select=selling&s1=bids&o1=a
--- change the ending to:
http://user.auctions.yahoo.com/show/mystatus?select=selling&s1=end
You won't have to scroll throug pages of auctions in order to find the ones with bids.

helpful tip:
place your Yahoo auction booth icon in your about me page and/or your auction description if you want more traffic in your auctions.

remember ... customers just want alot of details of the item! no tons unnecessary fancy gif/jpgs!

always check your emails if you receive any e-mails if the bidder have a question about your auctions!

sellers - put a little bit of yourself in 'About me'
1. info about yourself
2. seller info and rules

If you are using AW gallery, it couldn't hurt to place a few pictures in the Yahoo gallery.
AW gallery photos do not show up on the Seller's Auction Profile

Good Morning. Today I visited Yahoo for the first time and I think I would like to try their auctions. I am interested in 1st bid wins.
I have merchandise that only will require the opening bid and I don't want it in an auction. Let me ask.

1. Has anyone ever used it?
2. Did it or didn't it work for you.
3. Does ebay use it?
4. Are the buyers on yahoo dependable?

Any imput that you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Libra63 - I use 1st bid wins about 85% of my listings and it works very well.

Another tip - AuctionTamer supports Yahoo as well as Ebay. I have been using for several weeks and am very happy with both the software and the support. I sell under several id's on Yahoo (this is legal again) and the software lets me see all my listings on one page.

"1. Has anyone ever used it? "
Yes--I LOVE it!

"2. Did it or didn't it work for you."
Worked great! Best thing since sliced bread!

"3. Does ebay use it?"
No, but I have seen variations where people say the e-mail them and they will close the auction, but there is no option for it's use within Ebay's system.

"4. Are the buyers on yahoo dependable? "
Mine have been, but I believe it may depend on what you are selling and the crowd to whom it appeals.

I agree wholeheartedly with VM. Auction Tamer is simply a MUST! The more I have used it the more feature rich I find it to be! I keep track of all of my running auctions on all venues and all of the items on which I am bidding as well from one convenient screen, plus I can search the web, etc. using the built in browser and customer support is FIRST RATE!

Hi VM--Thanks for the info.

I wasn't clear. I meant to say that I was not sure if it was against AW's CGs to make it a clickable link. I know that sometimes you can mention a servcie but not make it a clickable link. I wasn't sure if AT would be considered competition now that AW has the auction management area.

Thank you for coming to my rescue though.

Libra63 Yes I used it
At first, I was uncertain of it

but several months later, I decided it try the '1st bidder wins' deal

my sales has increased about 25%

If you do not wish to use it, just shorten your days and increase the amount of the autoresubmit

I love 1st bid wins-I list nearly everything that way. Between that, and paypal or paydirect, I can buy something on saturday, list on Sunday, and have it out of the house on Monday. Sure cuts down on the clutter!

Hi. So I'm considering listing a few things on Yahoo to help compensate for ebay downtime. Are you allowed to mention your ebay id and/or feedback rating in your description? Not as an advertisement for ebay auctions but more like a "I'm new here but look at my great feedback on ebay" kind of thing?

Thanks...Troi

Yes, it's OK...Yahoo doesn't punish you for linking to your ebay feedback or auctions.

troi I put a line in all of my auctions with my Ebay name and a clickable link to my Ebay feedback so that my new customers could easily check and hopefully feel better about buying from a "newbie".

Welcome!

I think there's also a site where you can list all your feeback from various auction sites combined. Wish I could actually help you and provide the link, but I can't find it.

Let me see if I understand the thumbnail thingy correctly--the picture has to be added through the "Add Photo" feature of the Yahoo listing/edit program, or it doesn't show up if a user chooses "Show Photos"? Does this mean that auctions should be uploaded from AW without photos, and edit the photos in later, so they're on the Yahoo servers to be available for thumbnails?

How long does it take for the search server to pick up the changes? I added the photos to my auctions with the "Edit description" link, but they still don't show up on a search when I choose "Show photos".

Hey VeryModern! The baby is doing fine! She's up to 6 lbs. 5 oz. A little doll!! Now......a question about yahoo - it tells me that I have 999 more listings .....so we get 1,000 auctions a month? Does it cost anything after that? (not that I'd have that many anyway). But I'm trying to figure this yahoo thing out - it doesn't cost ANYTHING to list an auction?? I only have 1 feedback on yahoo - something I had bid on quite some time ago. Wish I could haul my ebay feedback over to yahoo. Hey, I thought it was really easy to list on yahoo too!! I hope this works out!!

Edited to shout: VeryModern Rules!!!

bobbi - so happy to hear about the baby!

Yes, you can list 1000 auctions a month on Yahoo, but you can set each to relist 3 times, so it is kind of like 3000. Seems to be plenty, virtually no one around here complains about running out, and yes it is FREE.

On the feedback, you cannot transfer your ebay fb, but you can do better than that - you can turn it into cash to use to feature auctions. Look for thread posted by Toyranch for details, yahoo gives 1 dollar for every feedback from another site - one shot deal. On the 1 Yahoo fb, just link your ebay fb in the auction (this is allowed) and it should not hurt you in the least.

Good Luck!

GREAT thread, and very informative. Way to go with it all.

I have relisted some things in the last week that when I go to view it, the picture isn't showing, I just go back to the info, and then hit continue again and the picture is showing up.
Sometime back, Yahoo said that they wouldn't keep listings that were 3 months old..so that might have something to do with pictures showing...
I hate all CAPS in descriptions anyway, so glad Yahoo doesn't either...
Even worse, I HATE(shouting here) the BIG BOLD shouting blurbs that some people put on their auctions. You have to scan for 5 minutes reading all this BIG stuff and then finally you find a very tiny badly done picture.
A Picture is worth a 1000 words !!!!!Folks
Ol bitties opinion !

What a wonderful thread in advance thank you all. I have been over at Yahoo all morning , reading, and have learned many things here that were not mentioned there.
About photos if we cannot list them from auction watch, where and how do we add them to auctions.
Items that we have in pending or in inventory for ebay, all show bill point in the add, how do we eliminate that? and while I am at this how do we move them to yahoo. I have printed this out because I know it will be needed. Keep it coming all that noise you hear I am sure is the noise of the hoofs of the crowd leaving Ebay .

I love my "about me" page on yahoo.
Do I need to plop one onto geocities and put it in my auction text?
This is a real help VeryModern, thanks for starting it!
