I would not give a refund, as she " cleaned " the dress. I am sure you would have noticed the bleach marks. She altered the dress by cleaning it. if she did not clean it, then I might refund the bid price only, as it sounds like she is not happy with anything !!!!.
It also sounds like, she will give you a neg, so let her earn it, by no refund.
You are not k-mart or any other department store. Most of them would not take a dress back that has been cleaned. !!!
I am sure you will get more posters.
Good luck. Can you post her ID, I would like to block her from biddingon my auctions. I have enough idiots, I don't need any more.

I agree with wrightsracing - she altered the dress by cleaning it - therefore no refund is in order. I would also report her to Safe Harbor for making fraudulent claims. Please do post her id so that we can block her from bidding! Good luck to you

Her eBay id is blessedwith7.
She has said that there are 5 stains in various locations, two bleach spots close together, some of the trim is frayed, and a section of hem several inches long has come undone and is hanging down. One stain, I might have missed, but there is no way I could have missed all those things. I have pictures of the dress hanging front and back. There is no section of hem hanging down.

" She is also demanding that I guarantee to refund her full purchase price plus shipping both ways before she ships the dress back. She said that she has been returning 80% of the items she buys, because they are not up to her standards."
Sounds like a problem child with a history of pulling this on other sellers.
Nothing would be up to her standards even if she did her buying at any b and m store!
I would not refund in her case! Block her emails and put her on your bidders block.
I hope this winner did not pay you with a cc via a online payment service.
As far as putting a hang tags on, this by itself will not help as people can buy a tag gun and still switch things around.

Wow!! I just read her feedback about others and immediately put her on my blocked bidders list (and I don't even sell clothes)
Face it, you will get a neg from her. I would neg her first as this is not a pleasant transaction for you.
I can't believe this lady has left 8 negs and 6 neutrals for others.. that is a 8% negatives/neutral ratio. NOT GOOD.
Sorry this happened to you. They are out there we just hate to stumble upon them.
Good luck!

She is a buyer as well as seller, a neg will hurt her as much as it will hurt you. She cleaned the dress, I would not expect to return a cleaned shirt to the store and refund it. She needed to return it BEFORE she cleaned it.

Hello - Sorry you're going through this stress. You asked about contacting future sellers. Yes, that would be a no-no that could get you suspended. Emailing ebay isn't going to do any good.
One question I'd like to know is how long had she had the dress before she first complained? You sound pretty confident that you couldn't have missed "all those problems" and since you've checked the FB she leaves for others...I'd tend to agree...she's being overly difficult.
I also agree that since she's had the dress cleaned...I wouldn't refund. But had she not stated that, I'd have refunded and paid postage both ways...as I want happy buyers.
Should she neg you....[hope not] I'd just answer in the FB..."look @ FB she's left on others..seldom happy?" Then take a deep breath and go on.

What you have said gives me an indication that she has worn the dress and doesn't need it anymore. There is a marker you can get that you need a black light to detect. I don't know if it works for clothes though. Maybe a clothes seller will answer this. I think it is hard to sell clothes. Ihave some small items to put on but I have been putting them off just because of stories like this. I put on a couple of outfits of my Granddaughters that were in pristine condition, one she never wore and the other a couple of times. No comment from the buyer at all. I would if it was me refund the money for the dress but I would not refund the postage as she is the one who doesn't like it. If you had sent it to her with obvious flaws, which I am sure you didn't, then a full refund should be given. Good luck.

i dont sell clothes nor have i had any problem bidders yet. tho id be very weary of refunding her the money she paid plus all the shipping. specially since she wont return it until u give her a refund. how do you know shell return it once you refund the money? sounds like a scam shes running to me.
i know there isnt a company out there that would refund you your money without you returning the item 1st.

I would definately NOT give her a refund.
NO WAY, NO HOW!
Take a deep breath and expect a Neg.
Then leave her a neg, something like
"BEWARE BIDDER IS A NIGHTMARE! Check feedback she has left for others".
Then block her from bidding on any more of your auctions, and then YOU MOVE ON.

I don't sell clothes, but do sell auto parts. One rule we have about them is if they have been installed or altered, there is no return, no ands, ifs, or buts. And many of them are not returnable if you take them out of the package.
This person has admitted to altering the dress. The second she did that, all warranties were voided. Any problems needed to be reported BEFORE any alterations took place. I tend to believe another poster here when they state that she probably used it once and doesn't need it anymore. How did she pay? Hopefully it was by money order or certified check. If it was paypal, she could claim she did not received it. Even though she did, PayPal will lock your funds until you can prove it, which takes months.
Personally, I would simply move on and if she negs, respond to it responsibly. Your prior feedback and her prior feedback will back you up.
Good luck.

I agree with other posters here. She voided any contract when she altered the dress. No refund is due and she deserves a neg just for asking the rude questions after the sale. I would have known right then this was going to be a nightmare.
Wait for your neg and respond in kind. Warn other sellers away by giving her a factual, well earned negaitive.
Don't worry about getting a neg, they soon fade away down the page and other buyers/sellers will see it for what it is, a minor nuisance.

I agree with all the responses. You may very well end up with a negative even if you do the gracious thing & accept a return & refund her money plus shipping. I would not give her a refund. I would also let her know that the solvents in dry cleaning can be damaging to fabric/clothing. She very well may have done this damage herself by taking this dress to a less than reputable dry cleaners. I would let her know that she voided any return privledges by having this dress dry cleaned without your prior consent or knowledge.

I sell clothes. I'm blocking this bidder too!! If she has been unhappy with 80% of her purchases, why does she CONTINUE TO SHOP on e-bay?? Because she feels empowered by these little battles. I bet she has a rotten life that feels out of her control, so she takes it out on people she doesn't have to face. She should stop shopping & start saving - for a therapist!

Chiming in with my $0.02
Deny the refund and take the neg. You're getting one any way- may as well earn it. just get it over with. Don't forget to give her a neg in return- it will really burn her up and it might help others to avoid this lady.
Block her email and bidding on your items. Do a preemptive complaint to safeharbor or whoever.
Good luck
ps how do you check what FB someone else has left? I used to do it by typing 'left' on the address bar but now it will only give me what FB I left.

To view feedback left, look on the feedback page for the link 'Feedback About Others'.
I personally use Bay Check Pro by Hammertap to extract negs and neutral both left and received.

I find it hard to believe that if the dress truly had that many flaws that she would be bothered to wash it. What would be the point since she obviously has a history of returning items anyway?! I would email her back politely and tell her "Congratulations, you've just bought yourself a new dress!" and then I would just accept the neg. and move on. I looked at the feedback she left and it seems like she always has to have the last word even when it was a positive! You'll never please this woman!
Keep us posted on this one.

I have a similar situation. A bidder won an auction for 16 vintage postcards. He took 16 days to pay, and then I promply shipped. He then sends me an email complaining that one of them was damaged and that I didnt include it in my description. (I think he is overexagerating.) He then wants me to reply to his email and make a case for him to decide what kind of feedback he will leave for me. What kind of nerve? He wants me to in effect apologize and beg him not to neg me (thats the impression I got).

Being the owner of a bridal shop, I have plenty of nit-pickers. Never one this bad though! What is crazy is that most of the items she gives horrible FB about are very inexpensive-- What does she expect??!!

Maybe this buyer is just brutally honest. I'm a seller/buyer & there have been a few things I've ordered that were in much poorer condition than stated (i.e. a set of Star Wars sheets so badly faded, I could barely make out the design! As a seller, I'd never put something so ratty up for auction!) I've never complained or "negged" anybody though because the items were cheap, I don't like to stir up trouble, & I figure it's part of the gamble of buying used items via the internet. I've also gotten things that were much nicer than they appeared in the ads, so it balances out! As I've become more experienced, I've learned that "I'm not sure what the fabric is" means it is polyester and when in doubt, I ASK!!!

Whoa, put this Buyer on your Blocked Bidders List! Sounds like this is a children's dress - perhaps one of her 7 wears it for an occasion, trashes it, and then she decides to send it back?
It sounds like her main beef it not being able to get ALL of her money back - including return shipping. By claiming the item is misrepresented she thinks she is entitled to it. Since you can't possible scan every square inch of a garment to document that the item was in the condition you stated, it would always be her word against yours and SHE know that.
I agree with other the posters, she's a control freak who has to have the last word. Who else responds to every feedback they have left or others have left them? It's beyond picky!
Interesting, that she has some clothing items to sell, it would be something if SHE got the buyer from you-know-where! What goes around comes around!
