I have a few, but one going right now...
The Hubby stopped at the Salvation Army last week on his lunch break. He found a fantastic copy of "Breakthrough" by The New Colony Six. We looked it up on Ebay and the last one sold for $510.00 and the condition was a bit worse than ours!
We started the bidding at $9.90 a night ago, it is now at $54.00 and still has 8+ days to go!
We paid .40 cents!!
Last week we took an old 1980's Boom Box from our closet and put it up for $10.00, it sold for $124.00 and I had someone begging me to sell it to them at any price after! I did not sell it to him, I honored the bidder, but what a temptation!

Are you saying we can't take Jack at his word? Nay, he will be here after he lists all of his 200 auctions, but I am sure that will take awhile.

Most memorable PURCHASE was a large box of about 500 old postcards - mostly early 20th century. I had no clue as to the value, but knew it would be a good deal at $9. I sold about half of them for $250 - and still have the rest to sell.
Most memborable SALE - & my husbands favorite story to tell - was a BINKY'S NIP CAP - (glass baby bottle cap). My sister bought about a dozen of them in the mid-70s ... gave me a few ... and I sold one for about $260.

Well, I trade Olympic pins and sell them on Ebay. I was at a pin swap in Salt Lake City before the games and someone wanted a Strawberry shake Olympic Pin I had (They made pins out of famous food items, don't ask me why). After everyone tried to get the pin from me (I was asking $20 for it), I finally traded it for 4 pins. An FBI badge pin, and 3 nice Police pins. The Police pins sold for $40 each, and the FBI pin sold for $123.40. My favorite purchase for myself was a 1984 Dated Team pin from Trinidad and Tobaggo. I had wanted one for 16 years. When I saw it, it was at $7 with 6 days to go. I bid $125 for it, and got it for $8.50.

A box of "junk" at an estate auction. Wife saw some yard signs in the box and wanted it. Won the bid for the box at $13. Inside box were 9 tubes, the kind you mail posters or blueprints in, inside the tubes were Ferry Seed Company posters from the 20's and 30's in near mint condition. Sold 8 of the posters on eBay for just under $10,000 total, one went for $4500.

Here is a letter from a Lady we sold an old cookbook to:
Oh my goodness, when I saw the hand written recipe, I cried, it belonged to my
grandmother..Loreto Louise OBrien Rhoades...she went to the Shaw House for
teas...when she passed away in 1986 I inherited her recipe boxes, so I went to
those treasures, and saw more of her recipes written on that stationary. a
litlle history of her: she was born in 1892, graduated from Yates High School
in 1910 as valedectorain, went on to Harris womens college in st louis, married
my grandfather in 1916. They had 9 children, were far from poor, when my
grandfather died in 1948 she went back to teaching, and authored 2 books The
Wife of Yesteryear, and the Narrow Gate, she was a prominent artist, and passed
away in 1986 at the age of 95...I am so grateful Ibid on this...may God bless
you

I found 10 John Denver videos of "The Christmat Gift" or maybe "A Christmas Gift" at a local thrift store all new and sealed in a $1 box about 3 years ago.
I bought them all and when I listed the first one I was very surprised when it brought $112.
I sold the other 9 for $50+ each and wish I could find another great deal like that. Of course, that was when people really did get into bidding wars and you could have a lot of fun with selling on Ebay! (It also turned out to be about a month before the annual John Denver memorial day they hold in Colorado -- I just didn't know it at the time and everyone wanted a copy to take with them).

Ok, I know I'm going to catch "flack" for this one. I bought a plaster hula girl statue at goodwill for $7.00. She was 2 feet tall and had some chips on the base. I listed her for $9.99. There was 4 days left and she had 1 bid. Someone emailed me and offered $350.00 for her. I debated, but then thought "it takes 2 people to make a auction go wild," so I sold her for $350.00

We found a deck of cards kicking around the store, they were dumped in with a box of books. They sold for over $1800.00
