ROBERTS,,,,,ONE FINAL NOTE.... E BAY FIGURED IT OUT OVER A YEAR AGO? THEN THEY KNEW THE EXACT NEXT MOVE OF THE POST OFFICE....... BEINGS E BAY WAS READY FOR THIS, THINGS CHANGED, AND E BAY DID NOTHING FOR TWO MORE MONTHS! OH I GET IT. THEY WANTED TO FRUSTRATE MILLIONS OF CUSTOMERS FOR TWO MORE MONTHS. RIGHT?

KEEP ON THEM AT EBAY FOLKS. NO MATTER WHERE YOU E MAIL THEM. SUGGESTIONS OR [email protected] OR IF YOU HAVE DIRECT LINES TO THEM.

WE NEED TO SEE WHERE THAT BUYER IS COMING FROM WHILE THE AUCTION IS GOING. AFTER THE FACT IS STILL ONLY GOOD FOR POSTAGE RATES. RIGHT ON THE SELLER I.D PAGE IS A GREAT PLACE. YOU GO THERE TO LOOK AT HIS FEED BACK,,,THERE IS HIS/HER ZIP.

AH! THE ZIP WORKED GREAT FOR ME TODAY. NOTICED A BUYER I THOUGHT HAD NOT PAID. SAW HIS ZIP WENT TO THE UPS BOOK LOOKED AT THE ZIPS AND SURE ENOUGH HE HAD PAID AND I HAD SENT IT.

SOME OF THE BUYERS THINK THE E BAY NUMBER HAS SOME VALUE ONCE THE AUCTION IS OVER. TOO ME IT TAKES ON A WHOLE NEW BALL GAME.

POSTAGE,,,,,,WHEN THEY SAY WHERE IS MY ITEM? E BAY NUMBER 234564567. I CARE LESS. WHAT I CARE ABOUT IS THE ZIP CODE BECAUSE NOW IT IS A POSTAL OR DELIVERY SITUATION/PROBLEM, REALY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH E BAY. I SEE THE ZIP,I LOOK AT THE POSTAGE MAILING SLIP,I FIND 92693 AND BINGO! IT WAS SENT 9/15/02.

Jack, you obviously have not worked at any large corporations. They know their moves or options well in advance. The post office didn't just come up with the weight/distance out of thin air last June. The proposal or option of using the weight/distance pricing like that of their competitors has been known to them for years. This was the year they actually did it. Ebay has known that this scenario could play out for years. They did nothing to make the transformation easier till there were thousands of irate sellers and buyers calling for the programming change. That programming change may have cost ebay big bucks. Ebay is a poorly run company that makes many mistakes.
I'm sorry that you take this so personal.

I don't think he takes it personal. He just wants his cake and eat it to. I guess that is what we all want. You know you don't have to be in the front lines to see problems arise. It is usually the one standing back and watching, observing the moves that come up with some good ideas. Why do you think companies give incentives for ideas. You know since I don't ship large items the Zip code means nothing to me but to sellers who sell large items need that and if it is readily available to them at the close of the auction they can get their WBN out and to the buyer faster now that that Zip Code is there. Whether eBay had a plan or not I am sure that the emails helped them impliment it faster.

Many sellers on ebay and other online auction sites changed their locations from things like "San Diego, CA" to "San Diego, CA 90355" as soon as the new Priority Mail rates was offically approved.
I think ebay was somewhat reluctant to go with the prominent zip code listings because Americans/ebayers move so often and many do not visit ebay for long periods of time that the zip code info would be outdated frequently and ebay would possibly be blamed for displaying the incorrect zip info. Since the zip info is so small and hard to find the buyers may not notice it. A bidder may win an auction and get a huge shipping bill when they now live in the same area as the seller whereas before they were 3,500 miles away but the seller based the shipping on the posted ( old ) zip info.
A real problem facing ebay is getting members to update all of their info often, including email addresses. They seem to fall flat in this area yet the proper email address is vital to the selling process.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT ROBERTS IS DESPARATELY TRYING TO CONVEY, PROMOTE, SELL OR HUSTLE. I AM LOST HERE. I THINK THEY CALL IT BEATING A DEAD HORSE TO DEATH??

THAT PARTICULAR PHASE OF THE ZIP CODE IS NOW WORKING AND MANY ARE USING IT.

PHASE 2, THE FEED BACK PAGE.

ROBERTS,,,I "AM" A CORPORATE GIANT ALSO.

THE WHOLE WORLD MOVES FREQUENTLY, ARE AMERICANS UNIQUE SOMEHOW ON THIS?

IN YOUR LAST POST, THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT HOW small THE ZIP CODE SHOWS UP. IT IS HARDLY NOTICIABLE. WHY THE SECRET IS BEYOND ME. DO US ALL A FAVOR. GET TO WORK ON FIXING IT. THAT TIME WOULD BE BETTER SPENT THAN DOING WHAT YOU ARE HERE.

HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Robert, where did you get your information?

Can you please reveal the source or reference from where you've obtained this data regarding ebay's awareness to the upcoming USPS rate increase and zone structure which was implemented in June.

Jack, the zip code thing is working now but what happens in six months when a lot of people have moved and not updated their ebay info? Ebay will start getting numerous complaints from users that their their zip info is wrong and sellers are charging the wrong shipping without asking them for an address first.

I can tell you're a big wheel by what you sell Jack.

Slabholder... you're a Bright fellow.

OH, SO YOU FOUND JACKSWEBB ON E BAY. HAHAHAHAHA. SAYS RIGHT THERE I SELL NOTHING AND THE LAST TIME I SOLD ANYTHING WAS SO LONG AGO NO ONE CAN ACCESS WHATEVER I WAS SELLING. NOT EVEN ME!

Now this is getting old...

Robertsmithson-If people don't update their information on eBay Poof!!!!! they are gone. eBay doesn't stand for that. You are grasping at straws, we can't predict the future as we are finding out in another thread so be thankful that today the zip codes are there, worry about them 6 months from now if they are not there. This is a quick fix for something that was much needed as we are all having shipping problems. I won't ship anything I need a zip code for. The weight of my items are such that they go for the Zone 1 priority, but when I do I always lose on postage. I feel bad for the ones that have to figure as it is kinda like a puzzle.

You know a company is only as good as their
employees. Even the USPS doesn't know what they are doing as you will find out if you use more than one Postal Station. I use 3 different ones and they are all different. One doesn't charge me for the 13cents for the 1st class DC, another lets me do a flat package 1st class with DC, and one doesn't.
This story could go on and on but we have so little time and so much to do.

Libra, God love ya, but your trying to open a door with rusty knob. Robert the ever so 'pessimist' just doesn't get it! He's next post will probably pertain to; what happens if ebay no longer exist and then what? What's next?

Laughing hard...

I see as long as it is someone elses auction that gets posted, then there is no problem with it being on the boards...against section 8.6.j of the user agreement btw.

BUT when it is an AW message board users auction it now becomes "Harrassment" and btw it is not Harrassment IAW the Community Guidelines.

Robert, why are you posting a link to Jackswebb's auction's. That's pretty pathetic and rather dumb of you. Pray, someone here doesn't post your auction's.

In fact Slabholder no auctions should be posted on these boards.

Just funny when it is someone, somebody knows it becomes a problem.
