It has now been one year since the moderators left and AW required credit cards to post messages on their boards.

There was a mass exodus of many people. Some predicted this forum would die completely and others predicted that there would be no one around to answer questions or to offer advice. And some thought that it would be impossible to have a forum without moderators.

One year later I recognize many that chose to stay here, some that decided to return and many new posters that decided to join in and offer their excellent input.

There have been very few problems since the mods left and personally I like it better without them.

Though I miss some of the people that used to be a big part of the board I am happy to see that so many others are helpful each day. Thanks!

And as JACKSWEBB says,

THE BEAT GOES ON........

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I've been here the whole time, and it DOES seem that the board is less busy than it used to be.

Maybe not a ghost town, but noticeably slower than the old days.

I agree that the board is definitely slower, and I do miss many of the old posters.

We, as adults, seem to be able to police ourselves without the moderators.

The ones here, old and new, have been able to answer the questions and give the advice as needed. the ones who were spouting that wouldn't happen were the ones who thought they had all the answers.

It is still a great board and the most helpful I have found.

Thanks to all of you who post here.

I hope all of the people who got suspended? return soon...I miss the fire and brimstone! Hey Kiara, I have'nt been here very long, but I have observed that you are one of the most
helpful posters on this board ( YES, I know, there are many helpful posters..Thank you all). Your solutions and information are always right on the mark, you are genuinely helpful without the least bit of know-it-all
attitude, and WHERE you get those...those...gifs? from...I just don't know! I also appreciate your positive, mellow attitude, full of balance and common sense in a sometimes stormy sea ~ Thank YOU for all of your helpful posts.

It hardly seems like a year has passed. Thanks to Kiara for reminding us and also thanks to him/her we have a board that is full of the wonderful graphics that seems to perk us all up.

We still have the INTELLIGENT ones that come up with answers we don't know, and I want to thank them for that. It isn't as rowdy as the old days but it is a kinder more gentle board to read. Every once in a while there is a moderator that pops in to remind us but very seldom. Thanks to all and Happy Anniversary.

AND THE BEAT GOES ON.

I thought it would be bad as people would leave, as would the moderators. I like it better though without the moderators, I like people being able to post an auction without fear of it getting deleted. I think the moderators were a bit heavy handed sometimes. Overall, I think things are fine, and it is better off without the moderators (though it is too bad they lost their jobs)

ahc3, I wonder if the posters who needed moderating (and some did) are the ones that left? The purpose, in my mind, of this board is to assist users, and I believe that purpose is actually served better now than it was a year ago. Of course a little more "action" can be found in the round table. jmho.

IMO the eBay Outlook is much more pleasant than it has ever been. Even without moderation. Although there is slightly less input, there is a whole lot less bickering, trolling and insults.

Interesting to note that OTWA, which absorbed many of the AW refugees, is now in the process of imploding due to surplus personal attacks and harassment in the threads there.

OK, so when I cut and paste the https of those wonderful gifs how come they don't appear? I tried sending a few to friends from one of the sites Kiara suggested and it just
comes up either as a "missing pic" icon or says "not found on this server". What am I doing wrong? You paste the http right in with your regular text message, correct? Please enlighten me.

Good point. I noticed the same thing over there, but no surprise at all.

I find that this board is very helpful when someone asks for advice.

We as a group may not always agree on a topic which is fine, but thats better than the total bloodbath it used to be here when the "pack"cruised on aw.

You'll need the [img*] & [/img*] brackets around that http://www.plauder-smilies.de/happy/xyxthumbs.gif to get it to work ( remove the *'s )

Hi inot

On the plauder-smilie site just click on the smilie you want and the UBB code will pop up at the bottom of the screen.

Then you just copy and paste it into your message here.

Thanks for the things you said about me. But I'm not always that nice.

Here's another fun site for gifs now that you found out how easy they are to do.
