jtw,

the funny thing is I've invited people to go and look at my old posts to show that I too was once a BidBay supporter.

They think this is a double standards...LOL...no I'm glad they brought up these very old posts.

It just proves that I am not some troll who one day woke up and thought they'd write bad things about a company they never had any experience with. And proves that I am someone who has learned through my very own experiences at BidBay what kind of shoddy people they are.

I find it hilarious they still have not addressed the 2nd place ranking.

If you read my posts on that thread you will see where I stated they won't...they will just come and attack me...and they once again prove me right.

Hook, line sinker...I'm gonna mount me another large mouth bass.

These people are too easy.

I'll never list at bidbay because of all the deceptive practices like bloating the item numbers, multiple feedbacks count making the feedback system worthless, purchasing worthless auction related sites possibly violating SEC rules, violating numerous SEC rules about the quite period, constant theft and use of copyrighted materials, and the bizarre cult like attitude of the chat boards.

Biday even has an "angel" shill account to bid on member's auctions to pump up the bid numbers. It is pitiful to see the cult chatters begging for bids from the "angel".

Bidders go to a category that supposedley has thousands of items and has 75 auctions, most unrelated to the category, then get disgusted and leave never to return.

Nice of you to register today and tell us how wonderful bidbay is going to be.

Gee, edited to correct bidbay like spelling error.

WOW! talk about your coincidences....HA HA HA!
This seems to me that people who are for BIDBAY clearly think that everyone else in the world is a stupid DOLT!. I RESENT THAT!
BIDBAY, with it's intelligence insulting tactics has now Pi$$ed me off, and I never even listed there.
People, it is obvious to me that BIDBAY thinks the whole world is sheep. So if you really think supporting them is a good idea.
Just take the koolaid and walk to the play area.

edited to correct typos. there were only a few...

jtw, newguy, jihmhow, I am glad you are seeing through their tactics.

Once again BidBay pulls the big ol' insert foot into mouth.

This shows you what lengths they will go to and heck I haven't even brought up what nobs has brought up yet...about them harvesting names of users from other sites.

That's the biggest stink going on right now and members of one of the sites that they purchased are now leaving in droves over it.

Bidbaylover~~it seems to me that with 4 million registered users plus the additional users that would bring it to 10 million (according to one posters conveyance of the CEO's announcement, AND the 578 members of Auction Diner there should be a HUGE selection of collectables and antiques. You know like glassware, pottery, porcelain, architectural items, paper items, linens/fabric, VINTAGE or ANTIQUE items~~not 10 years old or newer dollar store variety. There are NUMEROUS categories on eBay that have over 90 pages of listings and not one single item listed at Bidbay. Wonder why I can't find anything to bid on there~~except Bidbay buck "stuff" for my kids that I wouldn't dream of bidding on if it wasn't in BB bucks. Gosh I can find things on Yahoo, epier and Bidville in each of those categories I mentioned. Maybe it's what is being discussed on ALL the boards, not just AW...Maybe there aren't really 4 million registered users...Some folks seem to be registered without even signing up or ever having the intention of signing up for Bidbay. Noticed lots of folks suggested advertising of the new Bidbay commercial in antique type places...The folks that go to Bidbay looking for those types of collectables will never come back after they see what MERCHANDISE Bidbay HAS to offer. The majority of Buyers are not going to come hang out at Bidbay for the chatboard and weekly contests. They are looking for things they collect, that are readily available in quantity everywhere BUT Bidbay. There are numerous IMPORTANT categories on Bidbay that are devoid of the items needed to attract and maintain the antique/vintage collecting audience. Now if someone is looking for recipes, pokeman, sports cards and beanie babies Bidbay IS the place to be...Nowhere but Bidbay...

edited for typo...sure I missed a few more...

speaking of "funny how things change" I noted a few postings by the now defunct fullofknowledge1. Didn't he turn out to be the Bidbay CEO?

I cracked a smile today.

Sucking up? No at the time I wrote that it was a heartfelt post.

At the time I am writing this...this is a heartfelt post.

I do not trust any seller who wishes to associate themselves and defend the practices of BidBay. I think defending BidBay's shady practices pretty much let's the online auction community know what kind of morals they have.

When we were kids and we liked someone and were too shy to admit it, we teased, played copycat and even in some cases, were rude to the person we liked just to get their attention. I submit to you that Bidbaylover has a crush on AG2! He/she has taken alot of time to follow him around and bringing up old quotes! I think crushes are SO cute!

bidbaylover, you're suspended. Just because you had your original identity suspended does not give you the right to create another.

Do not create another ID.

Well, well well, I just read a post on Bidbay that they signed a multi million dollar contract with a nazdaq company for eight million dollars. The disclosure of the other company is silent for now until a press release is issued. That will place the userbase at 10 million within six months. WOw!

I wonder if that could be eBay??? They are the only auction site that might have that many actual users. They claim 22.5 million, but when considering the multiple ID's. and non-existant users such as usernames still held on file from members that signed up and never bid or sold, I would say the real numbers would be about 8 to 10 million.

Another thing to consider also when determining eBay's actual users, is that when someone registers - they register with their email address - this is counted as a user. Then when they pick their actual username or change usernames, both names are counted as users because the old username is held for 30 days, during which time you are wearing shades. Therefore it appears that one person is two users.

Opals~~I have several ID's on ebay AND I KNOW I have ebay ID's. There are folks registered at Bidbay who DON'T even know they ARE registered with Bidbay. There are a bunch of others finding that their ID's ARE registered with Bidbay unbeknownst to them and all 0 feedback ID's with free email accounts...A little STRANGE don't ya think???
Also I'll take the bids I get with what you are guessing to be eBay's 8-10 mil users over Bidbay's 10 mil one day, 4 mil the next!! I get more **BIDS** on eBay than I get **PAGE VIEWS** on Bidbay!! I make more in one week one eBay than I did during an 8 month period on Bidbay. A huge amount of active registered users would equal diversity in large quantities of types of items listed~~that's eBay's attraction. Sorry, but I don't find ANY diversity at Bidbay~~especially not for having a user base of 4 million users~~let's say that it is maybe 1 million users...Where's the items, where's the diversity, where's the new bidders in droves???? And by new BIDDERS that is what I mean, not new BIDS by the 100 or so active Bidbay chatboard crowd.

denephew:

I think you will find that true with most any auction site. The best way to figure actual size is by dividing their amount of users by 2 and you will have a closer figure to reality.

Opals...no that was not eBay that bidbay made the deal with it was speedyclick.

It's also been established that the user fullofknowledge1 was shilling/spamming the AW boards for the BidBay site and have since been suspended.

Just wanted to clarify those issues up for you.

Opals I agree with your math. It's the number of registered Bidbay members I don't agree with. Most registered members of auction sites actually go to the sites and register *themsleves*. Their ID's don't just magically appear on a site. Let's say Bidbay has 2 million actual individuals registered (using your math). Let's then say that 50% of that number are sellers. That gives us 1 million sellers on Bidbay, so let's say that only 10% of that number are ACTIVE sellers. That would equal 100,000 active sellers on Bidbay. I wish just a few of those 100,000 would list the type of items I like to bid on. I just did a search on eBay for an area that I buy in~~90 pages worth of listings. Did the same search on Bidbay~~0 items!! Last time I did some searching for things to bid on on Bidbay I found a seller base, indivduals not multiple ID's, of less than 200 from what I could gather. I really find it very hard to believe that out of 4 million registerd users the *active* sellers are less than 200.
Funny thing about numbers is that they can be manipulated in various ways but when you get right down to it they never lie.

opals: Ebay's numbers need no explaination. The sales made there speak for themselves.

Even after losing 85% of its listings, Yahoo still ranks #2. These other sites are totally clueless on how to compete in a marketplace. Bidbay if it remains free could become a good #3 site, replacing Amazon. The rest will fall away.

Quickdraw29,
On what do you base your theory that other sites like Bidville and Epier will fall away? What are they doing that is "clueless" that will cause this too happen? The only clueless auction I can find (next to Ebay) is Yahoo who succeeded in killing themselves. I dont expect Bidville or Epier to be free forever but I do expect that fees when they come will be in line with the level of traffic and that the fees will go to advertising and customer support.

Didn't the moderator establish a week ago that in actuality fullofknowledge1 is actually bidbay's ceo? As far as the bidbaylover with that id, could be his honey blondie or in fact the ceo again experiencing multiple personality syndrome.

BIDBAY IS #2 in my book, but that's not their standing on auction sites, it's just a figurative thing, LOL. The site in its entirety is about 20 people passing koolaid to each other. I sold there for three weeks and had nothing but grief from those very people who say they want more sellers and bidders to come over there. But don't ask a valid question or they'll flame you or delete your post. I think I was the only real person there besides a few others...oh yeah, they left bidbay too. I don't care if its free...it better be, its value is less than nothing.
