Barb,
I do live in DE. Which auctioneer? I've seen some wildly different results on comparable estates based on the different styles and set ups. I've also helped friends "go through" relative's packed houses. I completely understand why you don't want to do it. Hours and hours of drudgery and hard work.

I was at the Washington State Fair this summer and walked through the hobbies hall. I looked at a lot of collections in glass cases. I tell you what amazed me: people were stopping in awe of a little girl's Cabbage Patch collection. Her statement in the case mentioned that she found a bulk of her collection at thrift shops.
My age and cabbage patch attraction were all off. I was in my late teens and it was off my radar. But my mom just went nuts, laughing her head off. She had been one of those people getting them in the heat of battle for my little 7 year old sister.
I don't think it's possible to know what to collect for the future. I know that people tend to fall in love with something that excites a good emotional memory.
What about Britney Spears stuff? Will I live long enough for all those teeny tiny fans to want to capture their fond memories.
I still have my Japanese eraser and pencil collection from the time I lived in Japan while I was a kid. I never see any on ebay.
Somehow, I think there will be a glut of Britney stuff. What about Spongebob Squarepants?

Jensmome, I live in Seaford. Most likely we will use Joe O'Neal. He seems the most popular these days. I'm sure he also charges the most. I'll just be glad when everything is moved. I know my mom is going to want to save a lot of "stuff". Barbara

Thanks Barb. I think you are right. Good luck. I've been there.
