I'm not even sure if I'm in trouble or not, here's what happened:
Feb 16th had four auctions end, all were for eBay Beanie Babies that I get free for using my credit card. Same bidder won three of them.
Postage is 3.95 each & that includes insurance. She asked me to combine the three & I did, 7.00 & that included insurance & DC.
Amount due was 93.51.
She sent 91.21 didn't want insurance & did not have a verified address. I emailed back ins was required as well as a verified addy. This was her reply.
i already paid. if you want to insure it go right ahead. either issue a refund or email the tracking number by tomorrow or i will be forced to file fraud charges...........ty, NIK
I issued a refund right away & relisted the three auctions, emailed her that I would file for FVF stating mutual consent. I thought this was the end of it.....wrong.
This evening this shows up:
That does not work for me as I said if you need insurance go right ahead and pay for it. I can tell you are very new at this cause when your looking at seller protection that mean that you are protected against someone paying you using someone else's debit or credit card.
I USED PAYPAL CASH, which has nothing to do with what your saying. you will be paid in a few moments from one of my husband's paypal accounts.
One more thing, if you do file for fvf you will be suspended because I will verify that I am not backing out of these auctions. Please email the tracking number & have a great weekend.
Sure enough, another payment minus the insurance shows up, I refund it & then receive this:
I JUST PAID YOU. I DECIDED TO PAY YOU THE 2.33 INSURANCE...TY
I told her it was too late she gave me the option of refunding & I took it thinking it best for both, the auctions were relisted & have bids on them. I was glad to be rid of this buyer.
Then this shows up:
If I were you I would click on "site map" on the top of any ebay page. Scroll down the middle isle until you reach end your auctions click on that, cancel the bids and then the auctions. keep the money, mail the bears & give paypal the delivery confirmation number.
Now these bears are not rare at all so there is no need for all this nonsense. They sell for between 25.00 & 30.00 & there is lots of them listed so why can't she just let it go.
I checked her bidding & she has already won a few of them. I just can't understand what the big deal is.
While I am answering her email the phone rings, I answer & her husband, with a voice I at first thought was Al Capone back from the dead, starts shouting at me that he is a platinum power seller (is there such a thing as a platinum seller, beats me) 50,000 FB & really important on eBay, lots of pull & if I don't send the bears & if I file FVF I will be kicked off eBay for life. I was as nice as I could be (because he scared the hell out of me) & told him that he should know that a buyer cannot dictate TOS to a seller after the auction is over. Then more nonsense from him telling me again how he was a big deal on eBay & then said he left me three negs, he sure did, just check FB for mcjane on eBay, & would remove them if I mailed the bears. I told him so be it they were there to stay unless he paid Sq Trade 60.00 to remove them. Not this Big Deal, according to him he do it anytime he wants.
We hung up & damn if he didn't send the money again, full price 93.51 but this time it was from his account, not his wifes.
Then I get this:

What transaction!! I had no transaction with him, It was with his wife & his wife has a different address & PayPal account.
This last payment was paid from his account though.
Well anyway I went to PayPal & AGAIN refunded the money & received an email from Paypal saying...Case Closed.
These people live in New York & I am near Philadelphia & this guy is close enough & nutty enough to come down here, maybe. If he does, remember I am living in a trailer on the lower level of our property, I will tell him that Jane lived up on the hill in the wrecked house with no roof, tree fell on it the other night & she moved out. LOL
Next week this mess will probably resume when I file for FVF & I'm sure going to do it. I have her email where she gave the three choices, pay insurance myself, refund or send tracking number...I chose refund, sounds mutual to me.
I responded to their three negs & when I'm ready I will neg them back.
Wierd story & very long, sorry & I apologize, but had to share it with you guys.
In it's way it's kinda funny.
Oh lord, I hope that big time platinum power seller doesn't come down here....He scares me.

Jane, some people think they can muscle you anyway they want. But according to the email you chose to refund and you are fully in the right. If they keep bothering you about it, I would file a harassment claim with ebay, paypal and the maybe even the local police.
Some transactions you can just smell them from a mile away they're sour.

McJane...File immediately for FVF. For the reason, click on the option "failed to follow TOS" or some similar wording. Don't use the NPB or mutual consent option. Any jerk that calls you up and raises hell deserves no breaks. This will count as a strike. Call the SOB up at around two AM and tell him that 2 more strikes and he's out. Don't give an inch to this guy. When you neg him, spread them out so that when one scrolls to the second page, a new one pops up on page one. He'll have to get 75 positives to finally bury them all on the second page and beyond.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

T%his the biggest pile of dog poop I have ever read. These people are out of control & think their shix doesn't stink. I hope you file the FVF & if he negs you, appeal to eBay & see if you can get them removed. GOOD LUCK!!

Wow, mcjane. Sorry to hear that you got negs over this one. I'd probably turn it all over to ebay just so they have a record of it. I see they've changed their user ID about 8 times.
You never know who you run into if you do ebay long enough.

nero:
I will do something if Mr Platinum bothers me again. His wife is not fighting this because she got a real bargain, all these bears sell for around the same price. I just can't understand this. It's almost silly.
sparkz:
What a great idea, space the negs out, love it. The negs will go to his wife, user ID easily found on my auction. He did not bid.
I would love to know how to find out his user ID, if he even has one, probably does because he has his own paypal account. Shouldn't it have shown up in the transaction, I didn't see it, but then maybe not because the auction was not with him.
I'll bet he has an AOL.COM address
I'd like to see his auctions.
I did try to file FVF last night just to get the whole thing over with & got the Whoops message from eBay, too soon to file.
sanmar:
I did get negged three times, all the same. Here it is.
BUYER BEWARE! SELLER DOES NOT HONOR HER AUCTIONS. RETURNED MONEY MORE THAN ONCE. Buyer Feb-20-04 18:18 3175395831
Reply by mcjane: REFUSED TO PAY REQUIRED INSURANCE OR PROVIDE VERIFIED PAYPAL ADDRESS. NO SALE
It is ridiculous isn't it. As for getting the negs removed, I can try, but my chances are just about zero.
This is something out "Jack" has been fighting for, for a long time & it should change.
Even if it has to be that neither seller or buyer can exchange on a NPB. I would settle for that.
Thanks all for siding with me, now I feel much better.
This is my first real confrontation, now I'm one of the gang. Nice you can come here & talk about it.

kiara, your right, forgot about the name, it's gone now.....THANK YOU
Now how in the world did you know they changed their user ID about 8 times.
You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, but it's very clever of you to see that.
I sure didn't, but then again all I know about computers is how to turn them on.

I clicked on your bidder's feedback and then ID History on their feedback page.
If you check you will see that they have only left feedback for two users. Before you leave them negatives maybe appeal this to ebay to see if you can get the negs removed. You may have to try several times but they do remove feedback on occasion.

McJane, click on feedback for the bidder. On their feedback page, top righthand column is a button for ID history.

McJane....a couple of obvious things jumped out at me here (while I'm waking up)
Have you blocked this bidder? Block her by her email address, not her bidder name. Block his email address also.
Your auctions do not say they have to have a verified PP address. So if you do, you need to state that. I'm not sure if they could say you changed the terms after the auction if all of the sudden you start requesting a verified address. Unless that is one of the options you have checked under PP.
Let me think some more and drink another cup of coffee. (ps they are weird customers!)
You should of asked us what to say in your response under the negs. I think I would of put Refused to pay full amount (instead of that about the insurance), refunded. That would of made people think she tried to TALK you down (which she did essentially).
posted on February 21, 2004 05:06:09 AM
In this case you received valid complaints from the bidder... eBay should not remove the negs, you responded and that is all there is to it.
You made the decision not to follow through in what you thought was someone dictating your actions... fair enough... the buyer still has the right to make a complaint. After all that is what negs are complaints...
Why sellers can't understand that is beyond me...
What jack keeps whining about is NPB's (deadbeats) leaving feedback, they shouldn't be allowed... that is not the case in this situation.
posted on February 21, 2004 06:04:57 AMMcJane: are you sure you're not confusing "Verified" with "Confirmed" ??
I have LOTS of UNVERIFIED bidders who have CONFIRMED shipping addresses -- if you ship to the CONFIRMED address of an UNVERIFIED buyer, you ARE covered by PP's SPP
One easy thing you can do in the future is to goto PP & change your preferences concerning UNCONFIRMED addresses, & BLOCK them!
Personally, if my investment had been $0.00 & some fool sent me $93, I would have ACCEPTED & SHIPPED & bought Ralphie a big BONE

To be fair, I have to mention that I realize all too well that many people who use the expression may not be aware of what they're saying.
As a child growing up in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, I myself heard the expression often and thought they were saying "chew" someone down in price. The local dialect and accent come into play. I used the expression myself at times, unwittingly.
I only came to realize the actual meaning of the expression as young adult, when my brother converted to Judaism. My mother used the phrase in his presence, merely out of years of habit, and he was kind enough to explain....kindly.
As a person who would never intentionally use a slur, racial or otherwise, my mother was shocked at her own ignorance. So was I of mine.
And so it goes...

GEEZ YOU GUYS! I TOLD you it was too early for me to be posting. I see your point but one reference to it would of been enough, it didn't have to get into war of the worlds! I"m sorry I"m sorry! It never even crossed my mind that way or I wouldn't of said it.
posted on February 21, 2004 09:39:21 AMvalid complaints from the bidder ??
Feb 16 the bidder wins the auction.
She does not want to pay insurance and sends a lesser amount than required.
She says: i already paid. if you want to insure it go right ahead. either issue a refund or email the tracking number by tomorrow or i will be forced to file fraud charges
mcjane follows her wishes and immediately issues a refund and then relists
Feb 20, four days later the bidder comes back and again starts dictating terms. She paid from her husband's account and if there was a dispute he could just claim that he didn't win an auction from that seller or do business with them. mcjane did everything the best way she could.
For those who say that mcjane should have just grabbed the money and moved on, remember always that at times when these bidders dictate the terms right out the gate and then get nasty, they can be even more of a problem later on. They can claim the item is damaged or any other thing to cause more trouble. Take it as a warning.

I agree with the above..McJane was following her instincts.
Looking back over the closed bids on those beanies, some go for $40.00, so as McJane said, the girl got a good deal @ $30.00 apiece and lesser shipping charges. She (the girl) only bids on them up to $30.00 and then drops out. So she was upset that she wasn't getting them at "her" price.
Maybe she'll learn not to make people mad.
Now we just have to think of some good negative feedbacks McJane can leave.......
(and if they get in touch with you again, I think I'd tell them that you're brother is the head of the local police dept and that he has advised you to file stalking on them)

You finish the deal and then block them from your bidding and any further contacts. Trust me, I have had plenty of "bad ones" in the last 3 years of being on eBay and Yahoo, too. I'm afraid I am not one to hang around any longer than I have to and wait for more problems. I get rid of them and then block them from any further dealings and emails. You are much better off.
Of course, if you have a little bit of the "fighter" in you and enjoy a scrap or two, then go for it. Personally, I don't enjoy that stuff at all. Everybody to their own style.

Hey tomwill, I agree with you, some people have no CLASS. I just love these kind of posts it gives me a few more buyers and sellers to put on my blocked bidders list. I am also Irish and through the years have found that small minded people like to hid behind their computer screen. When these same people come face to face with a MAD IRISHMAN they take off like the rats they are. I will never forget the days after 9/11 when that big old Irish New York Fireman stood on stage and said " Ben Laden, you can kiss my Royal Irish A$$" That's my kind of man.
