McJane: You are definitely in the right here, but I agree with the person who said $93 for free stuff, he'd take it.

I would have saved the e-mail saying she wouldn't pay the insurance, (and sent her a copy of it in the package) just in case she later claimed they arrived damaged or missing.

But, yes, they are total jerks. Block them from bidding!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
You read about all these terrorists --- most of them came here legally, but
they hung around on these expired visas, some for as long as 10 -15 years.
Now, compare that to Blockbuster; you are two days late with a video and
those people are all over you. Let's put Blockbuster in charge of
immigration.

I guess to be complete I should post the emails I sent to the buyer after I received her refusal to pay insurance, threats & options.
Seems her name is Jackie & her husband is NIK, actually both have sent emails & both have paid from different accounts.
Being polite did not pay off with either of these two.

Hello Jackie,
I'm sorry but the package has to be insured if you choose to use PayPal. I also need a verified address for PayPal & the address on the account is not verified.
These are PayPal's rules for a safe transaction for both you & me. It's always better to follow the rules.

I will gladly ship uninsured & to any address you choose if you pay with BidPay as BidPay has no specific requirements.

Let me know what you would like to do.

Jane
PS: I am sending this email to both of the email addresses you are using to make sure you receive it.
............................................
Getting fed up in this next email as I didn't address her in this time.
...........................................

Even if I insured the package I cannot mail it to an address that is not verified with PayPal. To qualify for seller protection that is the rule. I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but if the package didn't reach you I would be out almost 100.00 & the three bears. I cannot afford to take that chance with the USPS.
Insurance was not an option it was included in the 2.33 cost for each bear mailed, a very fair postage indeed.

This is not working out for either of us & I absolutely want to refund your money as requested.

I will file for FVF with eBay & state that the auctions were called off by mutual agreement. eBay will then return the commission paid to my account.

This is the best way to handle it for both of us, it just wasn't meant to be.

Jane
............................................

glassgrl
Didn't block, but will right away.
If this lady was nicer I probably would have paid the insurance myself. I didn't like her threat of fraud, there was no fraud. She didn't send the right amount & I refunded as requested.

twelvepole
I too don't think the negs will be removed.
I did make the decision after she gave me three choices.

As forgetting about it & moving on, exactly what I thought I did when I refunded. Wish they would do the same.

Tom & Ralphie
She's verified, her addy is uncomfimed. When selling my rubber stamps, 3.00 to 10.00 I don't care if the buyer is verified, confirmed or not, it's just a few dollars.
I didn't want to chance 93.00 with an unreasonable buyer.
Selling these bears is as easy as finding money on the street, they get bids within an hour of listing. I could list a one day auction & still get about the same price.
I wasn't spiteing myself by refunding. It was an easy decision to refund & within minutes they were relisted & just as fast had bids.
If they were a hard sell I might have taken her "pay the insurance & mail or else" option. It was a good feeling not to do as she demanded.

fluffy
My emails to her were polite, had she responded in a like manner the outcome might have been different.
Her agressive passive attitude made me not trust her.

twelvepole
She gave me three options, I refunded within minutes & was glad to do it.
Coming back later after she was refunded was out of the question, it was over & done with. She was wrong to keep sending money & instruct me to cancel the bids on the three relisted auctions & mail to her.
I know I am not 100% right, but I did what was asked just to get it over with.

jjsgems
Really getting 93.00 for three bears that I got for free was no big deal. As I said I could list them in a one day auction & get the same thing & they will stay at this price for quite awhile. You can't buy them in the stores & Beanie collectors grab them up & many of them buy several, probably for resale later I would guess. The buyer got what she asked for, a refund. There are several listed there is no need to keep after me...they are not hard to find.

kiara
That is just what happened, I couldn't have said it better if I tried.
When she offered to pay the insurance, too late of course, I also felt that something further down the line would go wrong. I never liked to tone of her emails to me & it was not her place to be demanding. I replied to her politely & expected the same, it didn't happen.

glassgrl
FB, yes, just the facts Mam & as sparkz said,
spread em out.
You are a good friend always coming to my rescue. Can I ever repay you........

jjsgems
I thought this was over when I refunded.

Fighter, not me. I have read so many seller, bidder problems on VD, always interesting reads too, & each time I thought I'm glad it's not me.
So now it's my turn & I am very uncomfortable with the whole thing.
...........................................
I have heard nothing from the buyer today & probably will not until I file for FVF, then look out for fireworks...probably.

Thanks everyone for your input for or against, I appreciate all your posts.

As Tessio said to Don Ralph-olone: "Tell Mike it was BUSINESS, not personal!"

I understand your standing on yer "principle" -- I just always try to laugh at the pretzel-chokers & never take their foolish shennangins personally.

Like I say, with a ZERO investment, I would have "gambled" & shipped

ah but tomwiii...was it really a zero investment?

perhaps not as McJane can easily get the same amount of $$ anywhere on Ebay from anybody else.

McJane would of been out the $90.00 and had nothing to show for it, had the buyer decided to pull a fast one.

I too, might of just shipped it and paid the insurance (or not) just to get them out of my hair. However we can't fault McJane for doing what she felt right. If they put up this much of a fuss over piddly $$ for insurance then who knows what would of happened?

If the buyers are such "big ebayers", then why has she left so few feedbacks?

On the one paw, Ralphie agrees with ya -- however, I get the sense that this "bidder" bugged McJane & that started a chain reaction ending with NO moola & a bunch of NEGS!

Like I say, try NEVER to let these jerks get to ya!

Whenever I get a real pretzel-choker, instead of emailing them back, I grab Ralph & go for a longa walk...then we come home, hoist a few brewskis & discuss Kant&Schopenhauer for about 30mins while, at the same time, playing GO & toasting marshmallows!

THEN / und only then / do we return to the email & we try to determine a way to accomplish the MOST important thingy: MAKING MOOLA!

About 20% of the time I pay for the INSURANCE out of my pocket -- with UPIC or DSI, it's peanuts for peace-of-mind!

As we used to say in the USCG: "Don't sweat the small s..."

I think females - as a rule - are more in tune with their instincts. Not that you and Ralphie AREN'T!!!!

Anyway McJane, you spoke of paying me back?

Hmmmm. Let's see. You could come down here and clean out my Ebay room (that would be were you would sleep haha) post my auctions of all the stuff that you cleaned up, we could go sit in the hot tub and walk on the beach and drink a buncha Two Buck Chuck.

Right, I coulda lost $90 on my "free Beanies."
She got nasty right away, why. I didn't trust her. Most are delighted with my low postage that includes insurance, not this gal.
I have sold about 15 of these Beanies so far & will have many, many more in the future. I use this MasterCard for everything including replacing things that were lost to Hurricane Isabel & that really adds up. The points add up fast.
The MasterCard Anniversary one or two Beanie sells for around 100.00, you get only one a year & each of us has a card so we get two. These
Beanies are better that cash back...much better. People are crazy for paying what they do & I have plenty to sell & there is no hurry.

Awwww come on Tom
First response from her she accused me of fraud. What was I to do but to accept her offer to forget it & be rid of her.
So I don't get the 90.00 until next week, heck I can wait. It's as good as in my pocket.

Roadsmith
I did keep all the emails, will probably need them when I file for FVF.
The husband said if I file he is going to tell eBay I refused to sell to them. I never refused to sell, they refused to pay the correct postage & demanded mail as is or refund. I think her emails will back me up.

I NEVER thought I would hear from her again that's why I relisted right away. If she had of paid insurance right away instead of too late she would have her Beanies in her hand right now.

Another eBay exec trampling on a small guy.

Boy, you jews sure are getting niggardly in your tolerance of others. Maybe there is a REASON for pandemic acceptance of the word 'jew' as a verb, but go ahead and entrench it in our lexicon. Do you object to the word jewelry? Jewel?

Her husband NIK is the one who claims to be a platinum 50,000 FB seller.

Honestly you should have heard him, he bragged about it so much, was so proud of that like it made him better than me & gave him complete power to do as he liked as far as getting rid of me.

Good lord, anyone can sell on eBay if they want to. If this is his proudest moment I almost feel sorry for him.

I'll answer that one for GG, YES! Bring the team. They can do my house too and you won't even have to post my auctions. We can go shelling on 5 miles of personal white sugar sand beach. (I have a personal membership to Tyndall Air Force base, lol.)

The big question here is why haven't you given this loser negs in return. They were wrong in trying to JEW you down. Yeh, I'm a JEW and I could give a rats ass.

Give them their deserved negs, file FVF stating that they didn't follow the TOS and move on.

There is a reason they have changed their names so often. Mostly because once you change your name, it isn't blocked anymore on the blocked lists. And putting thier e-mail address doesn't work either. If you are going to block them, then you have to keep up with their name changes.

The reason I haven't negged yet is because I am thinking of taking this to eBay for a decision. In fact I am sorry now that I responded to her negs. If I lose I certainly will neg her & as sparkz suggested spread them out.
Sorry to say that I don't think negs do much harm to a buyer, but they sure can hurt a seller. That's the reason I do not neg NPB, I always file FVF though.

It's worth a try. My argument is I followed the seller protection rules & she refused to allow me to do that. I did what was asked, refunded, & it should have ended then & there. Within minutes after refunding I relisted & had bids right away. She paid again & told me to pay the insurance myself, I refunded, she paid again she said she would pay the insurance & this time paid me from her husband's account. It was too late, the three items were relisted & had bids. She then instructed me to cancel bids, keep the money & mail. Her husband got my contact information, called me, nasty guy too, & told me if I filed for FVF I was I would be suspended from eBay because the FVF would be a lie since they paid. He then went to PayPal & filed against me for keeping money & not sending merchandise. This guy never bid on any of my auctions, his wife did & yet he was still able to file fraud charges against me. The money of course was once more returned & the PayPal case was closed minutes after it opened.

I was never confrontational with either of these people & if harassment counts, maybe, just maybe eBay will see my side of this.

This bidder has bid & won probably 30 of this same Beanie so she can easily live without these three. I also noticed she has 45 FB & has only left 5, three to me & two to others.

Perhaps her changing user ID's so often will be of help to me in convincing eBay that this may be a problem buyer.

Thanks for letting me know the problem about blocking her, I didn't realize that.

Jane

Too late McJane, Damage is already done and keybd is hanginout to dry. Yes, I'm ROFLMAO!!!

SP is a very old joke between GG and me.

She has the memory of an elephant!

You'll have to come down to get the answer

--------------------------------------------BTW, we'll take GG shelling with us so I don't have to hear her whine for the next 20 years!

********************************************

TOO funny McJane! D told me she responded to you asking what SP is but she didn't say she put it over in Sanmar's thread about reserve prices. of course she's been *out of it* for a week so we'll have to forgive her. I just called & her husband says she's on drugs (and she DIDN"T call me & SHARE!)

SP is probably not for public consumption. I'm not sure if you've got enough of a sense of humor like D (ltray) does to handle the answer. Let's just say when she used to come visit I'd write SP on the back of her van and she'd drive around for days with it - without knowing it was back there.

Of course, my husband, then BF, doesn't see the humor in it at all when she calls me that, so we've shortened it to SP.
