...feeBay??

I stumbled upon an ITALIAN jeweler who drop-ships (no fee) to the USA with a very attractive DISCOUNT to me

BUT...although they have thousands of LOW-PRICED items, they also have thousands of HIGH-PRICED items that appear to be stunning!

Does GOOD jewelry sell??

RALPHIE is too chicken to do the $1 baloney, so our opening prices have to be realistic

Or am I just Bushing my listing fees down the head??

THANK YOU!

you can search ebay and see how high price jewelry go.
the vintage ones sell better like cameo, art deco, art nouveau, victorian, edwardian than the new ones.
take a look at seller zcountess, she has some interesting old pieces but unfortunately bid amounts do not live up to her expectation.
you are better off selling dogchow in the shape of samurai fingers, say that samurai loves their dogs so much, they will feed their own fingers to their dogs.
it will attract a lot of samurai wannabees to your item page

tomwiii: I'm sure others can tell you. Since you continue to be personally offensive to me in just about every possible manner, I'd rather not provide you with information about my market.

I guess that's the downside of shouting your political beliefs from the rooftops and disrupting other peoples' threads, eh?

Didn't it start witn YOUR blurb about GOV DAVIS?

BEFORE that, my sigs were non-political...

Always a beginning somewhere!

My sigs are a response to that offensive KERRY-FONDA FLAG sig floating on this board.

To place his name on a flag that he BLED against...THAT'S OFFENSIVE!

Please just place me on you IGNORE list as I have done for ye.

I know my name isn't flully but I would like to give an opinion.

I for one didn't find the Kerry - Fonda one offensive as it probably is as close to the truth as we will ever know. But yours, be realistic, was very offensive, but then again probably not to the liberals. When comparing your, yes both yours and mine whether you like it or not, President to an animal is very offensive whether democrate or republican.

You always come in here and ask for our opinion or is this item worth anything. I am always happy to give an opinion to a civilized person of which after you posted that picture my information will be very selective to anyone on this board. My Opinion.....

I think asking a question like that is asking for an opinion that most of us can't give. I think you need to check auctions both active and closed and draw your own conclusions. I for one don't want to be the demise of a business.

now i wish someone will say something about jackwebb's signature.
tom,
everyone knows new stuff fetch a price somewhere between retail and wholesale,i.e. if it has bids.
since it costs you nothing but the ebay listing fee,why dont you try listing some and find out??

tomwill, Try checking out the Jewelry district in New York City. I know there are wholesalers there. You might find some pieces and advice there.

I don't find your banners offensive. Keep them coming. In my opinion Republicans love to dish it out but can't take it. I believe they have very thin skins when on the receiving end. Remember what the Native Americans used to say about people like that "they speak with forked tongue"

I also remember fuffly's posts about Gray Davis. Like I said some people love to give it out but can't take it.

Tom.....if it's a product that you know something about then I'd follow up on it. If it's new to you, I'd forget about it. I imagine that good fine jewelry is available at good discounts, just like every other product. You need to know or research what's REALLY a good discount in this field....and also research on your own if the products that you're being offered sell on Ebay....and for what price. If it's like most products, there's plenty of competition for you to check.

BigP:

I'm not simply referring to the continuing, relentless and in very poor taste attacks on President Bush.

I am referring to the deliberate disruption of serious and germane discussions by what looks like an immature grab for attention. Kind of like the class clown parading around with a jock strap on his head.

I'm sure everyone who has read here for any length of time has an opinion about the frequent posters. I know I do. And I know who is serious about learning and exchanging ideas, and who is here simply to yuk it up and see his name in print as many times as possible.

I choose not to assist the latter group of people, particularly when they ask for information that might help them become my competitor. Silly, but there it is.

I honestly wish there were a way to get a definitive answer about good jewelry on Ebay. We have a bunch of it, emerald and opal rings, etc., that the family doesn't want, and it's hard to know what to do with it. My impulse with some of the stuff we've inherited here is to turn it into cash, saving the nicest pieces for future generations. But disposing of the rest is a problem that's plaguing me.

Hi all,

Roadsmith, you might want to check around for an estate consignment jeweler in your area.

I put a few dozen pieces with a jeweler here in SLO and did very well - better than completed prices for similar stuff I saw on eBay. It took a while to sell, though, so if you're wanting to turn it over quickly that wouldn't be the answer.

My guy here first does his appraisal then offers a spot price and a consignment price. Of course the spot price is less than the consignment one. I opted for consignment.

Glassgirl, I'm sure you DO have a great suggestion! I would be glad to let this whole Vendio group know if and when I put some of them up on Ebay. . . .

Lucy: That's a good idea, if I can find one of those consignment jewelers. Do "regular" jewelers take things on consignment, do you know, or is it a special category of jeweler? And--big question--do you ask for a receipt from the sale of your jewelry? I've always been a little suspicious with consignment accepters, wondering if they say they sold a ring for, say, $100 when they really got $150 for it.

I would think there would be a call for Estate Jewelry. Maybe a local jeweler has an area where he has some displayed. There are a lot of young people looking to buy estate pieces. Do you get the major Gem and Jewelry Show where you live. I have been to one and there are a couple of booths that only deal in estate or antique jewelry. If your pieces are good then I doubt eBay is the way to go. I did put my Sister-in-Laws diamond ring up for auction for $6,000 I had a few bids and I even sent one an apprasial but the jeweler she took the apprasial to said he would take a chance. Something about a flaw in it. So the sale fell through. She then took it to a jeweler and he offered I think $4,000 for it. Of course she took it. Try one of your pieces but start high, maybe wait until a FLD or like the 50 cent day we just had and then try it. Wouldn't hurt. Good Luck.

My jeweler doesn't sell new things at all, strictly estate pieces. He's been in business here for decades (I've known him since 1975)

When I put pieces on consignment with him, he gives me a contract showing the items, with drawings, carat content, etc., and the net to me when they sell. So I don't actually know (or care) what they ultimately sell for. When he sells something he sends me a check.

It's slick! He takes care of the stuff, it's outta my house and in his vault. And I LOVE getting those nice checks!

I’ve been religiously reading this board for years but have never posted until now. After reading Roadsmith’s comment in “I must be a Jinx” thread regarding our “current U.S. president” and then this thread, I certainly agree that some posters are offensive and rude when airing their political views. I come here to glean information regarding eBay and am astonished at the liberties some take with both their posts and signature lines.

I applaud both Fluffy and Libra for calling it like they see it, and I’m sure I speak for others who also read this board & do not post and are getting tired of reading the fanatical diatribe that flows in abundance with certain posters.

Fluffy......in America everyone is entitled to their opinion....I think...unless there's something in the "Patriot Act" that has done away with that right. I respect your own opinion, but please try not to put the words President and Bush close together. I get a little sick when I see that. I live in Florida, where they didn't count my vote last time. Hopefully this year they will.

I am new and do not want to post political views at all , I just am here also to find out info on ebay. I am still a bit wet behind the ears even after 100 sales, because I have never used a drop shipper (I am scared to because I still do not understand like, what happens if you list one of their items, someone buys it then THEY run out?)...just wondering..trying to find good warehouse deals too, but I do not want everyone's trade secrets or to spoil a business..I am sure everyone was "here" at one time. Anyway I just wanted to post and did not know what else to say , and I agree sorry - whether I agree with your political views or not (to those who posted on this) is IRRELEVANT to me on this board. If you want to get into a debate on that, please direct me to an appropriate board for debate on such a subject, and you will find me there, happy to debate you, THERE...didn't some people ever hear that whole, "There is a TIME and a PLACE for everything?"

My feeling is that the political rants and raves belong over in the round table. That also goes for the .gif tag lines, a couple of which make the poster look retarted.

After eating my cherry "retarts" this AM, I stumbled back into this thread.

I would be delighted if the EO were void of ANY political musings what-so-ever -- they ALL belong in the RT!

However, after months of hysterical ravings about the CA GOV'S RACE (well, now they have their "close personal friend" (Arnold's words, not mine) of SS BUTCHER/WAR CRIMINAL KURT WALDHEIM, & now they have Herr Governor's crusade to change my US CONSTITUTION so he can run for President, because Arnold is sooo much more competant than JEFFERSON or HAMILTON or MADISON), I will respond with my own blurbs.

When an offensive logo goes up which is offensive to me, I will respond with an opposite logo.

When I see hatred & bigotry & anti-Semitism in a post, I will comment.
