I live in Carolina, we are the Mecca for hurricanes. The winds are scary and losing power for a week is awful.
However, since almost every year we are "attacked" I have to say it is the apprehension
and the "waiting" just before the storm hits, that is the most unnerving.

Shoot! That darn storm shifted and we (in Miami) are going to catch some of it. They are evacuating the Keys. I hate these storms! Going through Andrew was enough for me. It's ironic that my dad found some pictures of my house yesterday that was demolished in Andrew.

eek! from NOAA
"THE BEST ESTIMATE IS THAT THE CENTER OF THE STORM WILL MAKE LANDFALL AROUND 10 AM CDT NEAR LAGUNA BEACH."
Well there's Panama City Beach but they have all these old-timers names to sections of the beach. Laguna Beach is where MY house is! Not the house we live in (we're way over to the right of it) but my own personal house that is currently empty!

b]Aint Rich[/b] Thanks for fixing my pictures. Must be losing my mind, I KNOW about the back slash, but forgot.
It's a mess isn't it. The blue you see is a tarp that was put over the house the day after the tree fell, there is hardly any roof left.
A couple of trucks showed up & they are starting to tear the house down, oh happy day.
bizzy, i'm sorry to hear that, I feel for you having been through it myself. Ours was an isolated thing, nothing like what Andrew did to just about the entire coast.
I hope your insurance company treated you as well as ours treated us. They have been extremely generous & in spite of almost everyone encouraging us to get an independant appraiser, we didn't & have never regretted it.
Reenie, always nice to get email from you, let me know how you make it through the storm.
glassgrl, that doesn't look good, now I'm going to worry about you.
Bonnie isn't coming up here is she ???

I live in Louisiana. Right where the A is on the first map. Hurricanes usually don't make it up this far, but we get some strong winds and the tornadoes that fly off. I don't think we will see anything this time.
Be careful Diane.
Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.
