I realize you all get paid for this advertisings, But hey give us some respect we paying you as well and DO NOT ALLOW THIS TYPE OF BANNERS TO AGRUVATE US. yeah I have to complain too! Dang those things sometimes 'flash' and then sit at the bottom, sometimes 2 or more at a time! whats up with that?

As the other poster said, I know too, that you get paid for advertising, but couldn't you just put ads on the home page, or something.... these pop up things are more than annoying.

I'm so tired of them, I am shopping other online auction help services. I hear there are quit a few out there. I wonder how my auction customers would feel if I popped up a few ads when they view my auction.

I log on to AW to Ef'fing work, not to surf. And speed is everything, so stop throwing walls in my way. Sheesh!

I've made a concerted effort to never even let my cursor near those vibrating &$#!!ing Casino ads, even to close them , as I didn't ever want a bug from them of any kind.

Seems now I don't have a choice!!
They filled my screen yesterday evening, right before the luids episodes, (hmmm...makes one wonder if all the "heavy traffic" was composed of complaints...) and my browser froze repeatedly for the next few hours, even after restarting, cache clearing, history removal etc. on every site visited.

That's just way, way, way too much " in-yer-face" advertising gall for me.

This particular outfit has received more adverse re-action, on these boards, than any other I believe, in terms of visual offensiveness anyway, but to add the pop-up onslaught is really despicable, and I can't see why AW wants to push the envelope this way.

One would think that the new management would set out to woo its customer-base, not annoy ( and inconvenience) them beyond measure !

From what I can see, AW does not care what you think about popups. There is never any dialogue about what they are doing with the popups, their effect on people using AW or their general nastiness. The only response on popups ever seems to be to have people make their complaints about them in this forum.
The only point in making the complaints come here are that:

1) They are shut away from the mass of users
2) They can then be ignored by AW without aggrieving other than a small proportion of users
3) They get deleted after a relatively short time, so that there is no history to the complaints that one sees at any given time

Well, AW, just what is your view of all the aggravation the popups are giving to your users?

Is the advertising income work making so many users peeved?

Is this likely to ever get a response? (On past performane, I doubt it.)

Y'know, nowadays it seems that whoever pays a company the most money gets the best service and the ears of the-powers-that-be when there's a problem.

Apparently half.com, et. al. pay AW a considerably larger sum that the AW customer base does...hence the relatively deaf ears to the pop-up concerns.

I have been told to "shut up" on this issue of pop-ups and pop-unders so I will shut up. My $200 anal payment and my monthly payments will be sent elsewhere soon enough.

Auction Watch is privately held, and badly managed. Perhaps we should contact the venture capital firms that are funding AW, and let them know that the company's management is annoying and alienating their customers.

And then again, maybe we should just all change services (I'd pay more to avoid the popup nuisance) and let AW be another dot com footnote...

Here is an excerpt from an AW news release last year. If they continue their business practices, they will need someone skilled in liquidation. Isn't this is ironic???

San Bruno, June 15, 2000 - AuctionWatch.com, (www.auctionwatch.com), the leading online auction services provider, announced today that Patrick Metcalf has been named Vice President of Corporate Sales. Metcalf joins AuctionWatch.com from Hanover Direct, Inc. where he was Vice President of Corporate Liquidations.

So far, I haven't had to make any of "these" payments ; where should I search for them on AW?

]Management tools maybe, or, possibly, preferences?

If you want to rid yourself of pop-ups and banner ad's, go to www.adsubtract.com and install adsubstract Pro and say goodbye to all of the ads, I mean ZERO ads etc. Then go to http://www.analogx.com/ and install thier free cookie wall and POW software. Both are free and will kill all pop-up browser windows i.e. like netzero etc. that make you click on a site to continue. Happy hunting turtlekiller

There is a misleading here from AW !! As is often stated by AW is,this helps keep the cost lower for "us" the users..
Well AW I know as well as you do if you raise your fees the POP UPS will still be part of your intrusive and abusive behavior.
Before you go on to say lots of web pages use these POP UPS,,let me say I don't support them or do I pay them for a service as I do you.
There are others out there in the same service as you offer that do NOT put POP UPS in your face everytime you use the service.
I hope the POP UPS pay pretty well, because the hassle factor is rising and you seem not to listen to a growing concern.

I received 8 pop-up and unders in 5 minutes working on AW yesterday. I guess if you don't click the pop-up-under you must not have seen it the first 7 times.

The pop ups make me want to quit using Auction Watch at all. It is not worth it to get my computer screen popped twice just trying to log on. I hate paying for this service anyway, and to have it abusing me while I am using it is about the last straw. I am not into abuse. I want to say where you can put the pop ups, but that would be unladylike. It is somewhere the sun dosnt' shine.

Get rid of the pop unders advertising, they are intrusive, especially when I am trying to get my listing done, i suspect that they are causing freeze ups on my computer, which I never had prior to these pop_unders.
I am paying for your services and you should give me a choice as does AOL turn the Marketing on or off at my discretion.
My vote is get rid of them or I will be getting rid of YOU with another service. There are plenty out there and more to come.

I thought I was nuts. I thought someone must have hacked my computer, directing me to sites I not only don't want to visit, but that I might find offensive.

I am utterly mystified why a company I pay to use would make it so difficult for me to work. Only a dimwit would think these popups are a good idea.

But hey, look at the bright side: if the Geovernors get their way and our sales are taxed, it won't matter much in the long run.

neveragain

Perhaps we could try to keep this thread alive, so it won't get zapped by the "administrative clear-out" of this board backwater.

I once attempted this early on in the "new" feedback forum....it seems that AW "prunes" as much based on the "first" post date as the most recent post...

A number of threads by myself and others were zapped even though they were at the top of the list...

I just shut off Javascript when posting on the forums and never see ads of any sort...on my computer, a banner-killer runs full time but has had some trouble with the streaming banners and javascript popups...

Judging by the usernames I'm seeing these days (I've been here a little over 2 years), many of the old-timers are gone from AW.....I hope they can hang on to the newbies...

And so it goes...

First of all, it's annoying as hell!

Second of all, I am already paying you for this service, leave the ads
to the side...don't make me close additional windows for NO REASON!!!!!

This used to be a great service...I'm not sure I like the direction you
are going now.
Please stick to hosting images and auction building software...that's
you business.

If your programmers want to have a bunch of pop-up screens maybe they
should enter a seedier market to showcase their skills..."

No Pop up's tonight, Thank you for the rest, hopefully you will not turn them back on.
I was really looking at ebay's listing and management tools and a few others. I like your service and am use to it now. don't make me go away. AW will be the long term looser if we all start leaving the service.

I was told to place my Pop-Up complaint here where we are supposed to Chime in about it....but I see that not a Single AW staff that has not replied to This original post...Maybe there are others on this Topic that I haven't read yet but anyway...here is my post...

OH~ one comment first to think about

...do they really think we are interested in the ads? or even have the time to look at one if we are even remotely interested?...Is there ANY WAY to relieve sellers from this frustration...afterall we are already paying to be here...SUGGESTION~ Leave your pop up adds off of the control panel page, create auction page and anywere else our business needs to be refreshed or inputed. I know you must certainly have that ability...you don't have to get rid of them...just proper placement would be sufficient. They delay progress and that's what we are all striving for.
Thanks~

Sonya~ Tell everyone Thank You for getting the Control Panel up and running again! Much appreciated!!! But one thing.......yes it is true, The advertisement that is on the browser as part of the page when you go to any page of Auction Watch is always there.... But...those Extra annoying pop up windows of advertisement were not! I do remember a time when they Weren't there (when this was a free enviroment )and your fellow folk wasn't sure they knew where they were coming from either...or so they said~ I know things always change but Maybe I missed that with all the confusion of things because of the changes...don't really know for sure. I don't tend to visit these forums much, but I will have to look at your "feedback forum" to see what's up...never been there~

Regards,

I don't mind the popups if I can quickly x them out and they don't come back. But what I can't live with is the ones that will not go away; they come in groups of three, and when you x one out, another comes up. The result is that I cannot use Auction Watch at all! It makes no sense to have windows coming up that I do not want, which keep me from using the service that I am paying for. I complained to the "online casino" that was being advertised, and while their responses were courteous, they did not respond to my concern that their technology was blocking my access to Auction Watch. I had to shut down my computer to get rid of the popups. This is not acceptable.

I too am sick and tired of the viberating banners causing my mouse to viberate and jump all over the place, and the GALL AW has to force unwanted intrusions on my PRIVATE computer. Just my opinion but if congress is having hearings about this kind of stuff, then all the people that think this is an invasion of privacy should contact their congressman and do something about.

I read that online casinos are actually illegal in most states, so that means that AuctionWatch is advertising illegal activities on their site. And what is the difference between a computer virus that shuts down your computer and advertisements that either shut down your computer or disable certain functions of your browser? Most of those ads could almost be called viruses. At least when there is a virus going around they investigate and hopefully arrest the person(s) responsible. No one does anything about the ads. I wouldn't want someone to enter my house and shut off my computer and cause me to lose all unsaved info but these people can legally invade my personal computer and shut it down causing all unsaved info to be gone forever? Where does one draw the line? I still don't understand what Microsoft did wrong and got in trouble for recently but these advertisements seem a whole lot worse. I just needed to vent and put in my 2 cents worth.

I turned on this computer after it being idle for about five days and I was caught in pop-up,under heck:-0. It was bad and I bet there was 30 pop-ups and unders from AW that I could not get out of. It is a shame that the site starts to get easy to use and then impossible to use. I have teen-age boys so I know how to be ignored very well and I pay them also. I guess maybe I should just watch HBO until the reruns start

Just my opinion.........

There are services which don't advertise, why stay around here?

I know some of the people on this thread can attest to the lack of respect afforded by AW.

to ignore and not respond to concerns as in this thread are completely disrespectful and show no support for "our" users frustrations and inabilities to in fact in some cases even use this service.
I would just like to know AW what your popup advertisers will be willing tp pay your for advertising when there are few left to read this intrusive junk mail.
I know as one who is tired of being in the middle of work to have a popup appear will never under any circumstances ever visit that site.
I find it astonishing that a service such as yourself who on one hand professes complete service to it's customer base would openly say that we are looking at the bottom line for revenue.
Unfortunately you can't be both and appeal to both equally.
The decision is yours and your direction of the future.
Eliminating threads on this issue will in no way make it go away,,out of site out of mind doesn't work and charging for a service that users are not satisfied with will only decrease your customer base.
I know people don't like change and it would mean learning a new system but I think those who are no longer satified with what service you now offer should look into some other services that support their uses better.

Glad you're still with us...

I've made inquiries, no response as of yet...

It's too bad the control panel requires Javascript to be turned on...I just turn it off when posting and never see any ads...
