Looks like it's heading right toward Oak Island, N.C.

I was vacationing there in May.

Expect that track to change by the next update. Florida is again the probable target. Here's the odds as laid by the NHC bookies:

Also, the link in my post on the previous page will give the latest outlook.

Ummmmm...The 11:00PM projection isn't gonna make the Jax chamber of commerce happy. I don't think Tom, Ralphie or ladyjewells2000 are exactly thrilled either. There's still plenty of time to catch a flight to California and wait it out. The only wind we have here this time of year are politicians speaking on the campaign trail.

Ladyjewells2000...The latest map shows the "H" turning into a "S" as it approaches Jax. I know that's not the greatest news in the world, but it looks better than it did at 5:00 pm.

ltray...Glad to see the heavy rains haven't drowned your sense of humor. I saw a news item today where there are sheets of plywood that some people have used to protect against all 4 hurricanes. They have spray painted the names on them. What do you wanna bet that after Jeanne blows through, one of those pieces of plywood will show up on Ebay?

Wouldn't be a bit suprised Sparkz. Saw several Ivan auctions last week for signs some lady made from plywood blown off by Charlie.

I could just see the description "This piece of plywood that I bought at Home Depot is so strong, it survived 4 major hurricanes". As soon as the auction is listed, email the auction number to the marketing department at Home Depot H.Q.

The NHC bookies have Cocoa Beach or Ft. Pierce as the targets for landfall. Looks like it's going further inland than previously predicted and will clip the panhandle again.

Here's a radar image from Melbourn, Fl. The eye looks like it is going to go between West Palm Beach and Ft Pierce and get them both.

It's official. Jeanne has made landfall at Ft. Pierce. Looks like Frances all over again. I hope all our Vendio members on the east coast of Florida are hunkered down and covered up.

Hi all,

Terrible mess. How many hurricanes can Florida take?

Tom? You and Ralphie okay?

Daughter of a very close friend of mine (son John's Godmother) lives in West Palm Beach. Her house survived Hurricane Frances so friends are hunkering down at her place until Jeanne passes.

Bizzy left Miami this afternoon for inland places.

ltray...It's been downgraded to a tropical storm. Looking better than it did last night. Just be on the lookout for the tornados that get spawned on the outer rainbands.

To keep it on topic... I'm about to brave the auction waters again. Time to sart writing and taking pictures.

For those hunkered down in the storm, think on these things..... God Bless

***********

You might be a Floridian if:

You exhibit a slight twitch when introduced to anyone
with the first names of Charley, Frances or Ivan or Jeannie

Your freezer never has more than $20 worth of food in
it at any given time

You're looking at paint swatches for the plywood on your
windows, to accent the house color

You think of your hall closet/saferoom as "cozy"

Your pool is more accurately described as "framed in" than
"screened in" and, after a really good "blow," "filled in"

Your freezer in the garage now only has homemade ice in it

You no longer worry about relatives visiting during the summer months

You too haven't heard back from the insurance adjuster

You now understand what that little "2% hurricane deductible"
phrase really means

You're putting a collage together on your driveway of roof shingles
from your neighborhood

Your street has more than 3 "NO WAKE" signs posted

You now own 5 large ice chests

Your parrot can now say 'hammered,' 'pounded' and 'hunker down"

You recognize people in line at the free ice, gas and plywood locations

You stop what you're doing and clap and wave when you see a convoy
of power company trucks come down your street

You're depressed when they don't stop

You have the personal cell phone numbers of the managers for: plywood,
roofing supplies and generators at Home Depot on your speed dialer

You've spent more than $20 on "Tall white kitchen bags" to make your
own sand bags

You're proud of your 16" electric chain saw

You're considering upgrading your 16" to a 20" gas chainsaw

You know what "bar chain oil" is

You're thinking of getting your wife the hardhat with the ear protector
and face shield for Christmas

You now think the $6000 whole house generator seems reasonable

You have particularly strong opinions about the merits of cubed, block
and dry ice"

Your therapist refers to your condition as "generator envy"

You fight the urge to put on your winter coat and wool cap and parade
around in front of your picture window, when you finally get power back
and your neighbor across the street with the noisy generator hasn't yet

The weather channel.com is the home page on your computer; the top of
your "favorites" list is noaa weather, followed by Intellicast

And finally, you might be a Floridian if:

You ask your brother up north to start saving the Sunday Real Estate
classifieds!

Power OUT for 3 hours...

POWER ON! Yippee!

PLEASE stay on...

Ralphie won't eat...sits in the corner with his ears back...

OK, kid, you CAN get back in my lap...

I'm too old of a geezer to take much of this...

I'm not so worried about me, but without AC, this "luxury" apt goes to 85F after about 2 hours, & the poor kid just doesn't do well with heat...

Oh FENWAY...

Oh Joe Tecci's...

Oh Golden Bananna...

Oh $#it...
