Nope, when I am the customer, I don't care about feedback really. I know sellers like their feedback, so I leave it without caring whether or not they give it first, or after.

Interesting question Agate. I started out as a buyer on Ebay, then turned to selling. It's been many a moon since I've bought anything on Ebay, but when I was buying, I would break speed records to leave glowing positive feedback for any seller who described the item properly, shipped promptly and treated me fairly.(back in those days, that described 99.999% of the sellers). I was grateful if they reciprocated, but I didn't lose sleep over it if they didn't. I wasn't bidding for feedback, I was bidding for merchandise. As a buyer, feedback didn't mean much to me, but I realized it meant a lot to a seller. It's only when I started selling that I became interested in feedback. Once I got my red star, positive feedback points no longer seem to concern me the way they once did. I will reciprocate 100% in kind for any feedback left for me, but as in the beginning, I won't lose any sleep if a customer doesn't leave it.

As a seller NEVER! NEVER say anything unless the BUYER says something AFTER the Sale is complete, as in they GOT it and were Hopefully Happy,,,,feedback never even came to mind for me, listing and Selling and $$$$$$$$$ was my goal....200 positive feedbacks later a buyer begged me for feed back,,,,feedback? what's that? How do I do it? I did and saw ALL those Positive FB's...OMG!!!!! all those people,,,,,,I recipricated back to as many as I could (positives)realizing I had slighted them....Then ONE that had NOT left feedback,,,,NEGGED ME!!!!!!! slapped me right into reality.....NEVER!!!! give it til the deal is over,,,,,and THEY say whatever....I sold well over 10,000 items,,,1500 FB's. 4 years. I never say aword unless they DO. Leave a sleeping Dog lay...otherwise, you just might get bit!

Do whatever makes yer boat float....

And in Spite of what I've read e bay just keeps going and going and going ,,,

When i sell, which i mostly do and my customer has paid i leave a feedback the same day i post the article. for me this has worked well. i dont chase F/B. in most cases i do leave F/B first. when i am a buyer, i leave F/B when i receive the article.

but reading some of these threads it would seem that there are some sellers out there with double standards. this matters not whether they are seller or buyer. they expect everyone to conform to their wishes or demands regarding F/B.

i have an unwritten policy that i follow as close as possible. and i see that some of you do too. i believe we need to be fair both ways, as a buyer or seller.

The problem agate18 is that feedback is NOT Fair. The biggest problem I see is that a deadbeat who can write that YOU are the crook, that you didn't send the merchandise, etc. We are never going to get a perfect system, but I think feedback would be a lot more useful if negatives left once FVF has been filed would make the whole thing more useful. Til that day, I won't leave a neg for someone because they haven't paid.

I do agree to a certain point ebayvet. in the 6 plus years that i have been selling on ebay i have had to leave about 8 negs. this was mostly for buyers that did not contact me after the initial bidding.

believe me i go out of my way to contact a buyer. quiet often i will call them from australia to usa and other countries just to make sure i do my best to contact them.

and your right, it is not a fair system.

As a buyer, I leave feedback first. The sale has been completed and I am satisfied. However, as a seller, I leave it after I receive feedback.

Diane, you're doing it correctly.

Ebayvet, We are never going to get a perfect system, but I think feedback would be a lot more useful if negatives left once FVF has been filed would make the whole thing more useful. Do you realize that filing for your FVF's doesn't stop the deadbeat from negging you?

Oh, I am aware of that, but I am getting my money back! I am closing in on 16,000 total feedbacks with 3 negatives, and none came from a deadbeat where I filed a FVF on.

When I buy I leave feedback as soon as I receive the item. On my buying ID I've only had 1 out of 13 sellers leave me feedback after I paid. All the others have left me feedback after I leave it for them. That's fine with me.

As a seller I don't leave feedback until it's been left for me. That way I know the buyer is happy with their item and everything is complete. I've had a couple of sales with PITA buyers and I know they would have left me neut/neg feedback if I had left them "Boy you paid fast" feedback.
