Living in San Diego I could make you all feel great about your rents... My "loft" that I left during the rain season because it was flooding every time it rained and the owner could do nothing about it was $1475 a month. Now I'm paying about half that in a building a friend is renovating. Once the renovation is completed (and I leave) the unit will probably go for around $1200.

On the heat - I've been in Colorado for the past week - 105 today tying a record that was set... yesterday. Supposed to be the same into next week. Can't wait to get home!!

6:00 pm. Just got out of the pool after an hour of relaxation and meditation

OTOH I was at Super Walmart today at 11:45 am. This is THE busiest Walmart in the USA believe it or not. At 11:45 am ALL the cash registers were shut down cut off. Nobody knew why and nobody knew when they would be back up. I left my buggy and went to Winn Dixie. They were lined up 5 aisles deep.

I wonder if somebody hacked their system?

Discount?? Every time the temp increases by one degree, the price goes up ten dollars. The store is closed when the mercury drops to 99.

Here in Oklahoma it got hot, humid and no rain in sight. Both of the air conditioners in our vehicles are out. We are getting the van's fixed next week before we drive to Eureka Springs. My car will have to wait so I will be driving with 4/40 air (4 windows, 40 mph) all the way to work and home until we get it fixed or it gets cooler. More than likely it will get cooler before my air is fixed. At least our house has central air. We have several fans and ceiling fans to circulate that cold air.

I admit it - I have spent way too much time in areas that may get hot but are also graced with ocean brezzes. I'm spoiled and damn proud of it.

Of course you might want hold back on a bit of that mockery for next summer when I complain about the temps in Vegas. (What the hell am I thinking?!?!?!)

The monsoon moisture that came up from Mexico hit Roadsmith and cooled her off, then it split into two streams an came north, one strean following the coast and the other following the Sierra Nevadas. Left me high, dry and humid. Thunderstorms and drenching rain on my right, and the same on the left. But here in the center, NADA. To top that off, I didn't find anything at the swap meet this morning worth loading and hauling off. All the smart vendors were home under the air conditioners. Only the stoopid ones, selling the new junk from China and Mexico were out there. Even the water in the swimming pool was over 90 degrees. My wife's boss emptied half the water out of his pool, and replaced it with fresh groundwater (68 degrees) to cool off.

Sparkz: We WISH. The storm clouds were all around and above us but we got maybe 17 drops of rain. Frustrating. The sky turned dark this afternoon, looking very threatening, and the outdoor thrift shops closed up early. And then. . . nada.

I posted that because it mentioned your town specifically. Close, but no cigar There have been severe thunderstorm warnings all afternoon for San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Still quite a bit of activity in your area, but it will diminish in intensity as the sun sets. You should see more tomorrow afternoon, and especially Sunday. When you hear the warning on the radio or t.v., remember to stay away from windows and telephones. It still amazes me to hear about hail the size of quarters falling on a town when the temp is 110 degrees.

Jack...Be careful going to the swap this weekend. Today, there are numerous flood warnings, including flash flood warnings, for every square inch of land east of you, all the way to the Arizona border. Check your local forcast before venturing too far east tomorrow.
