In all fairness - I'd like to share that having both Republican and Democrats as friends, I've received the same quotes sent via email to me from both sides. They just change the names to that of the person they're trying to poke fun at.
Remember the 'Beverly Hillbillies' song? I believe it was even posted here in a thread. Well, I've received the exact one mocking Bush and one mocking Gore. The names were changed to again fit the person they were poking fun at.
So, I could see how this might just have happened in this case.

Actually (since I was the one who noticed those were Quayle quotes) I should also point out that I really did assume that it was some email list that Mike got, not that he changed the names himself.
