actually my husband went to law school, just decided to pursue other things.
The lawyer I talked to said that he saw I was in a bad situation, so he was helping out, he is not charging me. Yes, he just talked to me, but I told him, it made a world of difference, knowing he is on my side.
I sent him a very nice Thank You card
anyway.
I was not sure what else would be appropriate...

I am so glad everything worked out for you in the end. I know you went through a lot of stress and trauma over this incident.
Maybe consider a gift card to a nice local resturant as a thank you to the attorney who was helping you.
This has been a very interesting and educational thread.
