Adele - they don't show on ACTIVE listings, just closed ones. I clicked on your feedback number and looked at the first item there (matchbook) and down at the bottom there are cross promotions.

Neglus: Thanks! I looked at that one while I was signed in, and "more great items from this seller" were at the bottom, no one else's. When I signed out and looked again, the same items were at the TOP of the closed listing. I didn't see anyone else's items there; did you?

And, trying to get this all straight, the cross promotions only show up on CLOSED listings??

They only show on CLOSED (sold and unsold) listings. Your current listings will only show your items.

I just spoke with "Doug" at store support. We tried all the above together. After which, we had the same result - the items of other sellers remained. After some checking, with the "debug people" etc. He informed me that there is a "bug" which is allowing this to continue. It was recommended that I sign in, check all the boxes, save, and then immediately go back and uncheck all the boxes. They thought that this might be the temporary answer.

Well, I tried the "fix" and the listings are still there. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

I tried to cross promote with my buying ID and it didn't work

That's why I stated another selling ID. Not that big a deal though. You can make one of your buying ID's into a sellers ID as well. Just go through the verification process. It should only take two or three weeks to do.

As of today, the "fix" which ebay recommended still does not remove the items of other sellers from my sold items. I gusess the "bug" remains.

Go in and check the boxes that you only want to cross promote with certain folks. I think this will remove them even if you have not selected someone to cross promote with. So far neglus, gauge and I are cross promoting each other and it is keeping everybody else off mine. So get a partner and go dance.

Oh...how sneaky!

I just checked the link roadsmith gave and they have MOVED the cross promos for other Sellers's. They are still there!
It was bold & bright at the top of the listings until we complained and now it is still there but at the bottom of the listings.

Grrr

Otter: I just now signed out, then signed into my listing you've referred to and I see NO cross promos at all, top OR bottom. Are we going mad????

No..WE are not going mad! JUST ME!

I cannot believe what I did and should not even admit it but it is rather funny!

I looked at yours and then went into EBay and I signed out of my Selling ID and into my Buying ID and checked one of my sold listings and there were the Cross Promos at the bottom.

I can only say that maybe due to my advancing age I thought I was still in YOUR listing!

Time for a cup of tea!

I should have checked here first. I'm so glad to know that this isn't just happening to me.

I HATE having that crap on my listings!

So, I wrote to Customer Support:

"I do not wish to display the "Similar items from all eBay sellers" section on my closed auction listings but it is showing up anyway. (item #8274753777 is the most recent example)

My preferences for this option are set at NO and have always been set at NO. I did recently recheck the NO box to no avail and yes, I also dumped my cookies and cleared my cache at the same time.

Is it possible for you to turn this section off for me?

Thank you."

eBay's reply:

"Hello,

My name is Tom and I appreciate the efforts taken by you for writing
to us. I'll be happy to assist you with your concern.

I have reviewed your entire email and I understand that you are unable to turn of the option of "sell similar item" preferences on eBay.

I checked your account and found that, it being turned off, entire "Promoting Similar Items on eBay Pages and Emails" is turned off as "NO".

Now, you should be able to see the change in your future listings on eBay.

Thank you for being a valuable member of eBay. We are committed to
make your experience pleasant and rewarding at eBay.

Regards,
Tom K.
eBay Customer Support "

I guess Tom thinks I'm either blind or a moron or a blind moron.

So, I wrote back again:

"Unfortuntately, I do not see the change on my "future" (now past) listings.

If you check item #7406937201, an auction that ended today, as
well as item #9508558691, a listing that ended yesterday, you will clearly see that the "similar items from all eBay sellers" section is STILL showing up on my closed auction pages.

I should note that I am signed out when I see this section.

PLEASE, I do not want it there! Please, tell me what I can do or let me know when YOU will have the problem corrected.

Thank you."

The most recent reply offers a smidgen of hope:

"Hello,

Thank you for letting us know that similar items appear on your ended listings even though you have opted out. We are aware that this is happening and will correct the problem as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, you can fix this by going into your Preferences in My eBay. Under Promoting Similar Items on eBay Pages and Emails there are two opt-outs for Closed Item pages. Unchecking both of these will reset the opt-out preference and Other Sellers Items will stop showing.

We do apologize for any inconvenience or concern this has caused, and we
thank you for choosing eBay.

Regards,

Frank R.
eBay Customer Support "

Interesting how they admit the problem is on their end and yet, blame me at the same time.

"Unchecking both of these will reset the opt-out preference and Other Sellers Items will stop showing."

Like hell it will! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

It seems two reps - Doug (kozersky's CS rep) and TOm (zappy's ebay CS rep) are now aware of the problem - well kind of.....wonder if anyone really IS working on the problem??? Try tcross promotion connections with sellers that don't compete with you - it's an easy fix and it might even get you better placement in search engines!

Frank R knows too which means he'll probably be fired next week.

I don't even care about competition. I completely understand why others do but I sell an odd assortment of stuff on an irregular basis so I don't really have any consistent competition anyway.

As far as I am concerned, all honest sellers with good intentions are welcome to compete with me. The more the merrier!

I just don't want any of that crap on my listings unless I put it there.

I'm writing them back again, lol.

Zippy, my understanding of his use of "future listings" means things that you list from now on, not auctions that *ended* after you "fixed" the problem. Could be wrong, of course. . . .

Otter, I'm laughing! I can't tell you how many times I've been clicking all around on my computer, thinking about other things, forgetting which site I just left, etc. Same as when I dial a phone number, start daydreaming, and forget who I've just called. Embarrassing. But funny, right?!

Roadie - it has nothing to do with future listings that end after the change - the minute I started cross-promoting with Beth (vintageads4u) my competitor's items disppeared from my closed listings and Beth's appeared. Later on I started cross promoting with my sister and hers appeared immediately along with Beth's.

Roadsmith, it took them a long time to answer my first email so the auctions I referenced in my second email were actually listed after their first email was received and should be considered "future" listings.

Does that make sense? I hope so, lol. I have the worst tax headache and I may be mumbling.

I fixed mine, too!!! Just cross promote with someone and your problems will be over. It really irked me to have the very same item I sold show up on my closed auctions...especially if you sell any books. Unless you have a super rare book...there are bound to be 10 just like yours on Ebay...and there they are right at the top of your closed auction....same title - same year published. Search always seems to work perfectly in cross-promotions! Thanks for the help...it works fine now.
