The Third Marine Division is still alive and well and SERVED in Vietnam.

Most likely Korea, I don't know that for fact. Annnnnnnnd most likely is in our current Overseas Operations. Affectionately referred to as the Third Herd.

That's not a Star in the emblem and I really can't remember what it's called but the Germans in WW11 scatered them in the roads to flattened the tires of the American convoys. Pronged, 3 demensional. I forget the significants of it now. Time,,,,

Mike:

1. The large patches (last photo) are 6" high. Identical art, different colors.

2. The striped flag is just red and yellow.

3. The metal country is Vietnam. I'm really puzzled about the two metal items in the first picture (country and flags). Both are slightly curved, as though they fit on a shoulder or some curved object, and both have dried glue on the backs. What COULD they have been decorating?!

I think both the metal country and flags are just souviners. The large patchs are probably back patchs you would put on your jacket. Look kind of like these. http://www.flyingtigerssurplus.com/big-id-12-shbgid-5967.html

Thanks, Mike. Now that I think of it, these large patches look a lot like what the Harley guys put on their jacket backs.
