Back when bidpay was still allowed on Ebay, It was very common to run into someone who misspelled it as bidbay, another online auction site.

I've got one that keeps cropping up: It's "moot point," not "mute point!"
Here's something cute: My husband's grandfather was an attorney named Moote, which I always thought was funny since "moot" is used a lot by lawyers; when we inherited a family mountain cabin from them, we named it Moote Pointe.

birgittaw: Aluminium is correct if you live in Britain. I have problems because I am English, and sell a lot of English knitting patterns. Do I put the correct title of the book with the English spelling, or change it to US spelling? Also, because I live in Canada, I have to put "cheque" for Canadians and "check" for US.
One of my pet peeves for spelling or rather bad grammer, is "I bidded on your auction, instead of bid"

Far be it from me to point out vocabulary errors in tenses. You know, such as "What is..." instead of "What are...".

"More specifically to eBay, "sale" & "sell" are the most common and annoying. As in "I haven't made a sell all day!"
Dr. Arcane, this is one of my favorites, too. I never understand why it crops up. We sell things, we make a sale.

"Affect" and "Effect" I'm beginning to think that 50% of the population believes those two words are interchangeable.

Dearest Mike ... I had 3. but edited it out. Ya C I sell fashions, swimsuits and some intimate items- bras, camisoles, panties and such. I cannot possible tell people what size they wear, or if they will look good in it, or if their DH or lover will like it!
I do provide the manufactures size chart on every auction.
Well my number 3 was dealing with questions like this- well I will just post A REAL QUESTION I RECEIVE THIS VERY DAY! This is not an oddity, it is routine. People will email and tell very personal things about their body, lovelife, and yadda, yadda.
Here is a sample -
one that I received today, it is as received, not edited.

Hello, I am sorry to have to ask this but my 3 year old Son must have stole my measuring tape. I usually fit a 10-12 or my jeans 31-32. As far as bust I like my bras to be on the bigger side.. I hate that roll you get if you get them smaller around. I often even go for a 38C sometimes 36C. I am interested in as much coverage as I can get for a suit... I have gained a ton.. I was a 6 in a year & a half I have doubled.. UGG.. But I am happy. Besides that. So guess things are good..?? What size should I get? It looks to me like you have had a good deal of experience in swimsuits.. I was at a Walmart yesterday I never buy clothing there but I tries on a few suits to get an idea on size. They seemed to run big?? The 12 was a touch big?? but I am just not sure.?.? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you..

questions like this?

Heh heh...I've got a perfect answer, but since this is a family oriented board, I won't touch that one with a ten foot pole

Deur1, I was just kinda hoping for some advise on this matter and didn't stop to think you might post my letter on this board. But seriously, my hubbie gets so mad when I buy things that I don't ware and I don't want to feel like I have to gain even more weight if the suit doesn't fit. Could you maybe send it to me on approval? Some suits don't fit my bra size right, they fill up with water and pull down when I get out of the pool and their I am - topless! This happened last year at our neighbors pool party- boy didn't they get an eyeful! But seriously, if it happens again this year, I was just hoping I would be able to return for a refund.

Pixiamom--"my hubbie gets so mad when I buy things that I don't ware and" ------ Did you mean to type wear instead of doin it on purpose like me. Note the doin. hehe Throwing in a little Texas slang.
LOL on the story. It affected my brain with all its effects and imagery not sure it was all good though.

"Since" and "sense" are a couple that get interchanged quite a bit. The numbskulls who can't remember resort to the compromise spelling. "Sence"
