LOL@ballsandstrikes!
You're very welcome to come here anytime.
It's about 49 degrees right now, supposed to go up, but we never know. Lots of rain this week and more expected next. We've had our share of snow this year, too. Not as much as you, but for the south, it's alot.
Can I say I haven't worn a jacket outside for about 2 weeks? Okay, I won't say that
Okay, I just looked at the weekly forecast on my weatherbug which says:
Sat high of 59 low 39
Sun high of 54 low 34
Mon high of 58 low 36 rain
Tues high of 68 low 38 rain
Wed high of 66 low 40 rain
That should make you feel a little bit better. Of course, the local radio told it differently, but I trust the weatherbug more.
So, no more forecast of 70's until next month, I promise. They lied
But, really when you think of it, 59 to you is like 70 isn't it? After subfreezing weather here, it certainly feels like it to me!
Have a great weekend everyone! May the sun shine down on you!

mtnmama its ok. You can tease (pout pout )May I ask what state you live in? When I played hockey, I loved the winter. Now because my real work is warm weather based, I dislike it. On a HAPPY note, my favorite minor league hockey team ( the Ft. Wayne Komets) clinched a playoff spot tonight. Now if only my Maple Leafs could become a little more consistant.....lol

Ballsandstrikes,
I live in the extreme north Georgia mountains, on the border of Tenn and N.C.
It does get cold here, but it also gets very hot in the summer. We have blizzards just like the rest of the country and heatwaves like in Florida.
But I wouldn't trade this life for anything. Just so relaxing to come home to peace and quiet, no traffic jams, no hardcore crime, takes me 20 minutes to get to work and 20 minutes to get home. No lonnnnnnng lines in stores unless the tourists are here.
I'm tired of the cold though, have to have some warm sun for my creakin' bones.
I guess I should clarify my name-I don't really live in the city. Just a suburb that borders as countrylike as you can get in South Jersey. My name is kind of a private joke between my fiancee and I. He's a cowboy (rodeo and all that stuff), and when we met it was the big joke that he found himself a city girl because I grew up in the suburbs (city as far as he's concerned).
Fortunately, its just a hop, skip and a jump for me to see the baby animals too. There's actually a horse farm down the street! I think I'll take a ride this weekend!
Still love this thread
Citygirl
Edited to add~
forshoppin,
I'm getting married in September and we're taking a road trip/honeymoon across the good old USA. We were thinking about stopping in Montana for a bit, what do you think-nice place to visit?
I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane!

ballsandstrikes: I am laughing so hard at your weather comment, that my hubby asked me why I was laughing so hard.......I have tears in my eyes....truly made my evening......thank you - thank you. PS: I am sorry you are cold.. Spring is just around the corner....I promise!
wallypog: Oh, so good to see that someone besides me has a lazy streak.....LOL.......The farther I go - the Behinder I get!
The trees budding are a sure sign of spring.
mtnmama: I'm laughing at your laughing @ Ballsandstrikes....Oh my goodness....you two are a riot.
It's supposed to be 48 tonight....and in the 70's over the weekend. There is a severe weather alert...LOL because of the 48 degrees.
I remember back east a severe alert meant....duh! severe weather......LOL
craftalley: Welcome to the positive thread........Please come again. I see you have such wonderful Harry Potter things. My hubby's little girl is only 8, so I have been reading them... I can't wait for the next one myself.....Well, I only just finished number 1, but I will run to Barnes and Noble (only 1 mile away) soon to grab number 2. I enjoyed looking through all of the neat things that you have.
Where in California are you? We are in Ventura County.....good weather here, can't complain. Moving is so stressful, at least it is on me. Moving with kids is difficult. Stop by now and then if you can, and grab a smile or leave another one.
Thanks everyone for keeping this thread up.....It's wonderful to know when I get a chance to pop in there will be something to smile or as in today's case, belly laugh at.

Citygirl1: Down The Shore? What Exit?
Do you go to the boards at Seaside, or Ocean City in the summer? AC?
I lived for many years in Bergen County (North Jersey). My son is still there doing his music thing (will be releasing a CD within the next couple months).
I understand what you mean about south Jersey and the area it's in........Oh, I am so excited to meet someone from Jersey.......I am a true Californian (born and raised thru HS - then off to NJ , then to Georgia, then back to Jersey, then home to California). I think I have come full circle about now.
I have never been to Montana myself. Anyone been or live in Montana?
Horse farm sound so cool...Have fun. I think we were posting at the same time before. LOL
Well you won't believe this but I am originally from Bergen County!!! Garfield-a real small place by Clifton. Where in Bergen County did you live?
I moved here about 3 years ago because I just couldn't take it up there anymore-congestion, traffic and the people were getting nastier all the time. I live near Cherry Hill at the moment, which is South but also West so we're about an hour and half from the shore. After we're married we intend to move a little further south where it's more farmy (is that a word?). My grandpa was a cowboy and he has me as his legacy-the rest of my citified family thinks I've lost it. My upcoming wedding is being held at a beautiful horsefarm in Sussex County, NJ-wait until they hear about that!

mtnmama,
now you are REALLY in for it. I know your area well! I have spent time in Cherokee and have been to that ghost town in the sky amusement park which I dont believe is too far from you. Georgia also being one of my favorite states and one which I have umpired in often. Now I am REALLY coming for a visit! lol

Oh dadnmom, we didn't get a severe weather alert this weekend. We had one for flood watch last week. We DO get tornados though and they're scary.
Ballsandstrikes, well come on down!!!!!
Never been to Ghost Sky, but had planned to go when the kids were little, never got there. Now Harrahs! We go there all the time.
craftalley, all to look at your HP stuff. My daughter is bidding on HP books over at ebay. She's loving every minute of the stories.

Hi Citygirl1 !
What a pleasure! You said you were close to Cherry Hill. I am too....but I'm in the Pine Barrens (one of the most beautiful areas in the world). I live in Shamong, just outside of Medford and Medford Lakes. I am just about 10 minutes from Cherry Hill. Please let me know where you are.
Carole
You may e-mail me...I believe my e-mail address is available.
I have never heard the Pinelands called 'beautiful' before. Nor would I necessarily agree. Interesting? Yes. Fascinating? Yes. But as beautiful as the Sahara or the Mojave Deserts. And the Pinelands, set atop the sterile Cohansey sands are very much desert, though colored green from stunted pines and oak. This was a place that the Native Americans avoided with a fervor, except for occasional hunting parties. The scene of the first great economic collapes of the 1850's when Pennsylvania iron killed off bog iron and many of the inhabitants reverted to near savagery since the soil can support no crop other than a few acidophile berries. This is the perfect setting for an H.P. Lovecraft novel. The ideal home for the Cthulhu. From Oldbridge to the Mullica a band of desolation and crazy ghosts. As in Peggy Clevinger...
South of the Mullica the Cohansey ends, and so does the 'true' Pine Barrens.

A little Late but Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all. Had a fun and busy day with hubby, went out to lunch, did some shopping etc. a late dinner, watched the Sopranos, and thought I would check in here to see if any new messages........YES, There Are.....YEAH!
Oh thank you everyone.....it's so fun to share things, and get to know one another.
Has anyone ever been to the mall of America? I would love to hear about that one.
Citygirl1: Would you believe Saddle Brook ? off Market Street, have friends in Garfield, and Clifton. What a trip....so right together. Probably went to the same bakery. The best Bakeries anywhere are in Bergen County, unless you go to Ferrara's in the city. I miss cannolis, and Italian Bread fresh from the oven.........I don't miss all the traffic on RT. 17 to get to the malls.......but what great malls huh? Gotta love that shopping. I know Cherry Hill, nice and quiet. Parts of Sussex Co. is so beautiful.
I see that craftalley Is from Montana....Ok, you two should talk, maybe she can help you with questions on that state for your honeymoon. That problem solved.
ballsandstrikes: I promise to leave money in the jar by the door..........you and mtnmama are quite a comedy team together.
craftalley: Citygirl1 was asking for anyone from Montana, for info for her honeymoon, hope you two can hook up and talk.
San Diego Huh? I graduated HS there (to many years ago - so don't ask)....... lived there up until 4 years ago when we moved up here. A rocking city. I love downtown, Horton Plaza rocks. Street Scene is so much fun. Been there and Have the t-shirt! When I first moved back there from back east, all my friends came to visit the first year....I was so tired of Shamu after awhile (evryone wanted to go to Sea World)......tourists....
mtnmama: Yes, the weather can be really bad where you are. The Happy Potter books are so cool.....
deichen: Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you How did your green bundt cake turn out? If good - please send some this way.
joice: HOW C O O L That was GREAT of you to leave that smile for us. Thanks.....leave some whenever you feel like it, please.
Carole: I don't know you, but wanted to say hi......Another Jerseyite, how cool.
snakebait: Hello today. Hope you had a good one, and some fun along the way.
Need a Smile, take one.....if not please leave one.

Hello all! Just checking in to let you know turning 40 didn't hurt all that bad! <giggle> Actually I had a wonderful day and many friends & family stopped by, took me to dinner, flowers were delivered, etc. A girl could get use to this!!!!!
Prom dress is cut out and ready for sewing. Everyone is on the mend and the weather is absolutely beautiful. Hubby says he heard a robin yesturday morning when he got up! I got to sleep in so I missed the birds.
citygirl - Congrats on the upcoming wedding. Montana is absolutely gorgeous and I would be happy to send you an information that you might want. Red Lodge is just a few miles from here and where I spent my honeymoon. There is so much to see and do here. I have lived in several other states but Montana is the most beautiful!!!! You can email me at [email protected]

I can't believe you lived in Saddle Brook! I was about 2 minutes away from there-just off Midland Avenue. I agree with you about the bakeries (I can't remember the name of my favorite one!)and the RT 17 traffic which has gotten worse. About 5 years ago they expanded the Garden State Plaza so its even better. The best mall I've ever been in was in Illinois, around Chicago area(I used to live there too!). It was so huge I once actually got lost in it and couldn't find my way out-LOL!
Well its a beautiful day here in South Jersey-the sun is shining and it feels like spring. I just drove by the horse farm on the way home from church and all the horses are out grazing-they look so peaceful!
Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning: The other day I received this in my email. I thought it was so cool, and wanted to share it.
(I hope EVERYONE has a nice day)
According to a radio report, a middle school in Oregon was faced with a unique problem. A number of girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom.
That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.
Finally the principal decided that something had to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean
the mirrors every night.
To demonstrate how difficult it was to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance guy to clean one of the mirrors. He took
out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it into the toilet and then cleaned the
mirror.
Since then there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
There are teachers, and then there are teachers...

Craftalley:
Just up the coast from you.....it is a beautiful day isn't it? X-cept for the rolling blac-outs. The PCH is a mess by Santa Monica going north to Malibu.....
A very nice lady, from a now closed site sent that to me (the lips story), it was so darn cute I had to post it. She is a cool lady to have sent it to me.
Yes to the Spring Fever...But we can't really complain here in California.
For some of you, maybe. But Ballsandstrike seems to not want me to revel in springtime weather. I don't know how he did it, but he managed to send us snow in the south! Yes, folks, he is amazing!
We're expecting 1-5 inches tonight. Thanks so much B&S (glad I put that & in there?)
Other than that, I saw another newborn today Ohhhhh, it makes me so happy to see new babies.
Edited to say: it's already started snowing, really big flakes. UGH UGH

Hello all! Well it's raining this morning which is a good thing. Maybe we won't burn to the ground this year and the smoke won't be choking us out!
dadnmom - no laughs at this house (baby caught the flu bug we have been fighting for the last month) but I'll send you a big hug for starting this fun thread and just because!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a great day. I listed a few more auctions (10% off sale); am headed off to clean another floor or two and sew that prom dress.

GOOD MORNING:
forshoppin: I feel badly for both of you. First, because sick babies are not able to really say what is wrong, and you, well you are probably just plain and tired yourself because of it. If the baby takes a nap today, I hope you can nap at the same time.
Hope we get to see a picture of the prom dress when it is all finished. It will be beautiful. But, maybe could you sneak a little nap in here or there today?
By the way, you look great for 40......See, you slid right into it. It gets better now.......Now, you can blame everything 'on old age and treachery'.
mtnmama: Thanks...I emailed you...love a good joke anytime. Thank you. Oh, by the way did you get all that snow ballsandstrikes sent your way?
Citygirl1: Midland Ave. Small world isn't it?
Yes, I have heard how big the Garden State Plaza had become. I used to go the back way, but hear it is just as crowded.
I love the outlet centers in Flemington. I love to visit Chicago. My brother and his family live in the suburbs, but the city rocks. There are so many fun clubs, and I love the Field Museum......Shopping.....shopping is great there, and so much fun The food is awesome.
(PS: if any one watches Port Charles - my one and only Soap....could you let me know what happened today.........the news took over that spot today, to have a special on our rolling black-outs.........LOL The only thing yesterday that happened to us was, that when the phone rang we could not hear it.but the voice mail picked up the messages......and @ dad's job they lost all power (just an hour), and he said the 10 or so secretaries there were delighted.)
Well Good Day to everyone.... Please stop by, and leave a smile if you have an extra one, or Take one if you need it.

A second grader came home from school and said to her mother, "Mom, guess what? We learned how to make babies today."
The mother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's nteresting," she said, "how do you make
babies?"
"It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."
