Thanks everyone for your advise. I made a decision hopefully for the better OF ME! Cash I read you post and felt very strongly knowing what kind of items you sell that I was making the right choice. Thank you. (I have presented myself as a 3rd party seller not the owner which I am.) This is what I said to her.

I apologize that it has taken some time to get back with you. My client and I spoke at length last night about your offer and how ebay works. In the time it took to get with him, I had received a number of offers .. Some I just said thanks but no thanks without even consulting with my client. The auction has at this time a number of "bookmarks". He has decided to ask you to make your offer in the form of an official bid through ebay. He said that in thinking about it it just didn't seem fair to the other people who bookmarked the auction... and potentially himself. I personally thank you and do hope that in the end it is a kind person like yourself that I get the pleasure of shipping this lovely piece to.

I will let you all know what happens. I PRAY I have made an educated good decision.

As a buyer, quite often I'll ask a seller after their auction has closed with no bids, if they still have the item. No more than that. That way I leave it up to them to reply and open any negotiations. Needless to say I always supply my email address so any reply from them isn't routed through Big Brother. Usually I'll get an offer back (if it's still unsold).

As a seller, I still get a few inquiries after auction's end unsold (or sold) as to its availablility. I usually reply that I'll happy to entertain serious offers...

Back in the early days of eBay I used to make offers to losing bidders on other seller's auctions all the time (shock! horror!). As I had stellar feedback on that selling account, I used to have around a 75% success rate on such off-eBay second chance offers (SCOs) in my category. This was well before all the scammers discovered it as an easy way to make money with phony SCOs.

agripop I remember those days well. In the process of searching what mine was worth .. finding it and watching the backup bidder loose by $5 and jumping right on it as an opportunity! My how times have changed and in a very short space of time.

As far as selling after the close... I get at least one a wekk sometimes lots. I never turn down the opportunity to sell something. If they want to pay the price ... send me the money!

Agitprop: I really like the wording you use when you e-mail the seller!

OH here is a kicker. I had a customer bought all of our video games through vendio store and never paid. Did a little research he is one of our top competitors. Crazy because he was one of those that offered to buy ALL of the games outside of the ebay market and I turned down. I personally think he did it on purpose because we are selling very similar games and our prices are SO much better. I would have loved to negative him but he bought them through the vendio store. just got them all relisted but we lost almost a month's worth of buyers.
