Just stopping in before I retire to say yes, we got snow, ice, rain and wind. He did a fabulous job getting me all his rotten weather
But thankfully, the snow didn't stick, the ice stopped coming and the rain and wind are supposed to end tomorrow morning. Then, they say, more snow! UGH UGH UGH
Have a great day! dadnmom it was great hearing from you in email. I saved your address once again.
Why serves no purpose? One person complained over at the moderator's corner, but no one else has. The moderator has decided to keep this thread open for now. I'm glad as it really brightens a lot of people's days and we've "met" some nice people who otherwise wouldn't post.
I hope you decide to post more delightful words of wisdom and the moderators decide it's not such a bad thing to have positive posts not auction site related here. After all, we all deal with auctions and need a break once in a while. We're auction users! Hence, this is auction related. Nice way to get around it, huh?
I just didn't (and don't) want to bother anyone.......There is just so much negativity and fighting on here, I was just trying to lighten it up a bit. I just find it difficult that people have so much anger inside all the time. I said my piece and that's it. Why keep beating it to death?
I was just trying to do something that everyone No Matter What Auction Site they belonged with could enjoy.
LOL to tel you the truth, I was trying to add something, and hit delete, and it all went away......and I didn't save a copy, because I didn't think I needed it.....batting 100 today!

ok I was the ONE PERSON but I wasn't complaining but asking a question.
Why not just put it in the Round Table where it belongs????
To be honest, I think (and it really doesn't matter what I think, as long as the moderators think ) that this thread was an uplift to those of us who were tired of reading all the negatives and bashing. It certainly brought a lot of people together who would never have posted before.
It may have belonged elsewhere, but IMO it's just what we needed when we needed it.

The Plight of Bob & Betty Hill
Bob Hill and his new wife Betty were vacationing in Europe, as it happens, near Transylvania. They were driving in a rental car along a rather deserted highway. It was late, and raining very hard. Bob could barely see 10 feet in front of the car. Suddenly the car skids out of control! Bob attempts to control the car, but to no avail! The car swerves and smashes into a tree.
Moments later, Bob shakes his head to clear the fog. Dazed, he looks over at the passenger seat and sees his new wife unconscious, with her head bleeding! Despite the rain and unfamiliar countryside, Bob knows he has to carry her to the nearest phone.
Bob carefully picks his wife up and begins trudging down the road. After a short while, he sees a light. He heads towards the light, which is coming from an old, large house. He approaches the door and knocks.
A minute passes. A small, hunched man opens the door. Bob immediately blurts, "Hello, my name is Bob Hill, and this is my wife Betty. We've been in a terrible accident, and my wife has been seriously hurt. Can I please use your phone??"
"I'm sorry, we don't have a phone." replied the hunchback, "But my master is a doctor, come in and I will get him." Bob brings his wife in. An elegant man comes down the stairs.
"I'm afraid my assistant may have misled you. I am not a medical doctor; I am a scientist. However, it is many miles to the nearest clinic, and I have had a basic medical training. I will see what I can do. Igor, bring them down to the laboratory."
With that, Igor picks up Betty and carries her downstairs, with Bob following closely. Igor places Betty on a table in the lab. Bob collapses from exhaustion and his own injuries, so Igor places Bob on an adjoining table.
After a brief examination, Igor's master looks worried. "Things are serious, Igor. Prepare a transfusion." Igor and his master work feverishly, but to no avail. They are not able to save Betty and Bob.
The death of the Hills upset Igor's master greatly. Wearily, he climbs the steps to his conservatory, which houses his pipe organ. For it is here that he has always found solace. He begins to play, and a stirring, almost haunting, melody fills the house.
Meanwhile, Igor is still in the lab tidying up. As the music fills the lab, his eyes catch movement, and he notices the fingers on Betty Hill's hand twitch. Stunned, he watches as Bob's arm begins to rise! He is further amazed as Betty sits straight up!
Unable to contain himself, he dashes up the stairs to the conservatory. He bursts in and shouts to his master,
"Master, Master!.......The Hills are alive with the sound of music!"

Serves no purpose???? Funny that the day I found this thread I was sick and tired - literally and reading the constant negative posts had me to the point of letting AW boards go completely. With 5 boys between 5 and 15 I don't need to hear any more bickering.
I figured it was time to get on with stuff. I had gleaned the information I needed at the time I needed it. Found a wonderful new auction home and should be posting on it instead of playing anyway.
Then I found this thread (and I wouldn't have been looking at the Round Table as I only check a couple of these forums and move on -- busy you know)! This is exactly where it needs to be when it needed to be! And I look forward to seeing what each person has posted each day.
Weather has been beautiful -- spring fever is setting in and the prom dress is only half sewed. I think I am making progress somewhere but am not sure. Auctions are slow which is good in some senses and bad in others. I would be in a world of hurts if I did this for a living and not just a hobby to sell my crafties so I can make more.

Oh my--I sure am glad this is still here! I never read the Round Table, either. By the time I make my rounds I'm easily out a couple of hours, LOL. And I've so enjoyed reading this!
Yesterday I ran into the store and the post office. Before I left my 3-year-old made a special order. He wanted pansies to put in the flower beds. So, I brought him 12 pansy plants, all in bloom. He says those are the cutest 'chimpanzees' he's ever seen, LOL.
Oh, for those of you still stuck in the bad weather, you do indeed have my sympathies. It's beautiful here! (We have the funniest weather scheduling.) The last couple of days have been sunny and temps getting to the upper 60s and low 70s. Only last week it was cold, cold, cold. Spring was already running late (as I said our scheduling here is weird). But we'll plant those panzees and they'll last for a couple of months, anyhow, until the heat finally does them in.

I never knew there was a proper place for things like this. I never see anything under the topic I think it should be. I never check Round Table either. In fact, I wouldn't even be in this thread if my sister hadn't shared it w/ me. Hoping everyone gets a touch of joy today. I had a nice one yesterday. Had a lady w/ a year old tupperware catalog call me & order almost $100. Hoping for a gorgeous day tomorrow. Have friends coming over & the kids want to play in the pool. Loved the Hill story. Must go make some pretties now. One of my friends saw my yarn was on sale at Michaels & gave me $20 to buy some. Some people are so sweet! http://www.avonalley.homestead.com

Good Morning (Afternoon) to ALL.
I really didn't know what to say to yesterday, so I just posted a joke someone sent me.
I am overwhelmed by all the positive posts to keep this thread. I will not ask again for this thread to be locked. As long as AW allows it, I will keep it going
jtw74: I did not know there was a different place for these things either. I didn't even know about a moderators corner. You have a very valid point, and I am so sorry if this thread upset you. That is not why I started it. The reason I started it, was there was so much fighting, arguing, nastiness, and ill tempered remarks (even on my part), that I thought something positive would be nice. A light remark, get to know people.....
a level playing ground so to speak. I was just trying to do something that everyone, No Matter What Auction Site they belonged with could enjoy. I certainly hope that you will join in, and share a smile with everyone. I would like to get to know you. What state do you live in? I live in California, and I can use all the smiles that are available, as can all people.
mtnmama: You are right, we have met some nice people here. People I wouldn't have known before. I hope your weather is better today. That ballsandstrikes, sending you that extra winter weather...shame on him. LOL where is he lately anyway? I miss you bantering with him......you two are a cute verbal bantering team. May the sun smile on your day!
forshoppin: You must share a picture of the prom dress when it is finished. What material are you using? Like I said I can't sew, but I appreciate anyone that can. I am getting that Spring Fever too. It is just ready to pop into season here. I can never complain though, California has always beautiful weather (even winter - rain now and again). The only really bad things are the fires in the summer, and maybe a rumble buster of the earth now and then. With all the children, do you ever get five minutes to just take some time for yourself? I hope so...you have your hands really full.
craftalley: How cool you sold all that Tupperware.......That is a nice way to start a day. I like Michaels store too, it is fun. I get lost in there when I go, there are so many cool things already made up (good thing too, cuz I couldn't do them). LOL
wallypog: I love your son's 'chimpanzees'... He will have so much fun planting them with you. Kids are such a trip. When my son was that age, he used to like Popeye cartoons...and he called him 'Pipe-eye'....I love to hear someone is planting flowers, a sure sign of Spring, and then summer.....
Ok, Happy Day to ALL of you, and those just peeking in.

Good Morning All........
I wish all the nice people that peek in here a great day, and hope they take a smile with them. I also wish the grumpy lurking ones to catch a smile....they are contagious fersure.

Good morning back to you dadnmom and everyone who reads this great thread!
BTW, I don't read the Round Table either. To do so would probably take most of my evening.
We had the snow Ballsandstrikes sent, but alas, he didn't send enough. He only sent about an hour of wet snow, not enough to stick, but he also sent ice. He's trying to send me more for tomorrow, but the weather says rain only.

Nice sunny day expected for tomorrow...how cool!
How is everyone doing? What are weekend plans? Anyone doing anything really exciting?

Hi all! Just a quick note to check in and let you know how things are in this neck of the woods. The weather decided to get COLD! The prom dress is on hold due to sick baby. The computer is headed for the repair shop so I won't be on for awhile. However, my house might get clean this way. <giggle> The twins took 2nd and 3rd in the state wrestling semi-finals so we will have a very busy weekend the 30 & 31. I shall miss all of you and the encouragement of this thread -- I will be back! Everyone have an awesome week!!!!!!! http://www.homestead.com/mainelymontanacrafts/index.html

Had lots of great things happen yesterday!
but,
Our friend and fellow poster, ballsandstrike is in the hospital today. Let's cheer him out with a rousing round of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"
And a one and a two and a
"take me out to the ballgame, take me out to the park, buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks, I don't care if we never go back, for it's root root root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame, for it's one, two, three strikes you're out of the old ball game!" I think that's the way it goes
Get better Ballsandstrike!!!!!
