If I bought Nikes from a local shoe store that caused me serious foot problems, I would sue Nike. If I bought unbranded flip-flops made to Walmart's specifications that caused foot problems, I would sue Walmart.

I have believed this from the start and now if you look at her 'Page 3' there are numerous people reporting the same problems.
I wonder why there has been no media reporting on this...or maybe in Canada we have not heard or seen any.

I don't think it's a HOAX, but it clearly looks like an allergic reaction. I like the part where she states about wearing latex gloves. I supply latex gloves for my co-workers and can state if she had a reaction to them, it would take longer than an hour and a half for it to show up. It usually will take a few days to show.
It is clear she should have stopped wearing the sandles as soon as she noticed the problem and when it got worse, go to the doctor then instead of waiting. You cannot blame Wal-Mart for her ignorance.

There is a certain level of fungus/yeast/bacteria/micro organisms circulating in our body, both aroebic and anaerobic,we could have picked them up in the air we breathe, the food we consume(common cause would be surface of fruit and vegetable, undercooked meat).
Prolonged use of antihistamine suppress body immune system in producing histamine which attacks these organisms, use of antibiotic and other medication could wipe out the good bacteria and encourage yeast/fungus to multiply .
Wearing tight pantyhose or any tight clothing creates a dark, moist environment for some of these organisms to grow and prosper.
Topical application often fail to solve the problem when there is high level of such organisms circulating in the blood stream, hence FDA approved the usage of Diflucan for non cancer and AIDS patients years ago.
Some of these organisms are activated by light/heat.
Anti bacterial soap, moving your bowel regularly, eating yogurt, not wearing tight clothing, staying away from processed food loaded with preservative ,exercising to improve blood circulation help.
I was in my doctor office one day and an elderly woman who has been working in her backyard pulling weeds showed me her hand infected with purplish patch, the good doctor prescribed CIPRO and it clears up !

This is very real, my wife had lesser degree of same type burns on her feett from a Walmart foam type sandal she got just 2 weeks ago. When she got home she realized they were made in China, her burns were on the arch area of the foot----But was exacerbated by her wearing them and her feet staying wet while watering flower beds and outside stuff. 2 weeks later they are still red and scabby but didn't get to this extent like the lady on the website, but looked much the same as hers. my wife also treated them immediately with steroid cream we had. Oh she is not wearing those shoes again.
************** I married my wife for her looks, but Not the one she gives me lately!

she has quite a few people writing in to her, of their problems with the walmart flipflops ... she also found an interesting FDA report that she linked to.

Hmmm. These same shoes are still on sale at our local Wal-Marts. Asked the manager if he had had complaints and he said "none".

There is an artcile in Newsweek on Chinese tires.
This guy who operates from a basement office in NJ has been importing Chinese tires for years, they are sold to wholesale distributors and use as replacement tires for around 100 dollars under different brand names.
Then reports starting surfacing of people getting into accidents and in 2005 ,2 men died in a car accident on a highway.
They asked the Chinese factory and were confirmed everything is cool.
His engineer got hold of a tire and looked inside-a small strip used to bond the steel with the rubber was missing.
It turns out that the Chinese engineer in the factory does not understand what the strip is for and removed it .
So these tires after 20,000 miles just gave in.
They flew to China and confronted the Chinese and the Chinese still claimed they have done nothing wrong.
More claims poured in and the US govt wanted him to recalll 400,000 of these tires at a cost of over 90 million dollars.
So he went back to the Chinese and asked them to help foot the bill and the Chinese still claimed they have done nothing wrong.
The Chinese law is such there is no clause they could find to sue,so they are going to proceed in HoNG Kong court .
In the mean time, this guy in NJ ,his business is ruined.
Now just ponder how safe are the organic food grown in China by many mom and pop companies?
What is organic to them is not what is organic to you,I remember as a kid travelling thru countryside of southern China there were signs in the fields which said'human feces welcome, drop them here" \
Here is an outhouse latrine in the fields.

Then we have the recall of almost a million toys, made in China for Fisher Price etc. They have high level of lead in the paint. With such huge losses, when are manufacturers going to realize that this practice is not profitable in the long run. We have started checking all labels, and try to only buy goods Made in Canada, or Made in the USA. A bit more expensive for sure, but in the long run, surely this is better business and economic practice.

The solution is really simple. We need to get back to manufacturing here in the U.S. and we need to stop importing everything. That's been this country's problem for a long time. We had a long history of manufacturing here in Ohio and it's all gone now. It's sad to drive past all the factories in Cleveland that are now closed and abandoned. All the problems we've bee having with Chinese products lately was bound to happen. It was all just a matter of time. Just look at all the phony things the Chinese are selling on eBay and eBay is all too happy to take their money.

We buy only Made in the USA. It's amazing how many products there are once you start looking.
Unfortunately the department store chain that sells me jewelry has sourced more and more of the production to China...with the result that some "sterling silver" pieces have no silver in them at all. I have to throw them out. When I first started buying this merchandise 9 years ago, a high percentage of it was fine Italian silver. Not so much any more. The day isn't far off when I can no longer glean enough saleable merchandise to make a profit.
