Time for a break from listing. Good golly I'm saving a lot of money on listing fees today.

So this lady with 4-digit feedback bids on a bunch of my earring auctions. Wins 'em all. Then the email: "Can't you combine shipping on these? Huh?" I send her my standard "Sorry, we don't combine shipping. To make sure people know this, we state this policy six or seven times in each auction." Eventually I have to report her for non-payment. She replies to that with some nasty comments, but pays up. I block her and figure that's the end of it.

Then she leaves glowing feedback for each auction, admitting she was wrong. And writes me today with this:

I just left you very positive feedback on the earrings you sent me and am eating humble pie! I am sorry that I took my anger out on you....too much stress in my personal life. But I smiled a big smile when opening the lovely earrings tonight. Do I dare bid on more of your earrings? Thanks !

Guess she hasn't realized yet she's blocked. Tee-hee.

But hey, it's the season of forgiveness. If I can tolerate some of my relatives, surely I can give this lady a pass.

Whaddaya think?

Sounds like she could be a great repeat customer.
Let her bid. What's the harm?

well she could always just get another ebay name and you'd be selling to her anyway so I'd say unblock her. She didn't leave you negative feedback & maybe the Christmas hysterics just got to her

BTW how did your SIL like the necklace? Or did you give it to her?

I did give her the necklace. I don't think she liked it.

We have a family ritual -- well, since I joined the family anyway -- where I take a big box of bagged jewelry and all the women sit around opening and sorting it. As luck would have it, one of those necklaces turned up.

Oh well. My husband was completely bowled over by what I got him, and that's all that matters.

Why are you so afraid of the competition? You keep bringing this up.

Most of the time people aren't looking for a particular object so much as they are looking to enjoy themselves. eBay figured out one way enjoyment is gained: being victorious in an auction. But there are lots of others and because of that, you need never fear your competition.

Sure, on a very basic level the process of selling on eBay is:

1. List something.
2. Money comes out of your computer.
3. Repeat.

But there is so much more to it than that, and sellers who think that selling is like a gumball machine (insert nickel, get gumball) and that they're threatened by everyone else who owns a gumball machine are tragically wrong.

Geez, I could do a whole book on this. Hey, Michael! Give me a call!

Fluffy .. do you really state that you do not combine S/H 6 or 7 times?

WOW

I would think the buyer would be embarrassed, she probably is sincere.

Fluf, do you actually ship each and every item separately?? If so why not give the buyer a break if they buy 2 or more items??
One box holds a LOT !!! Just seems like good PR to me. Do you charge for handling??Boy the post office sure would like it if you combined shipping and it would be a lot easer on you I would think. Well everyone to there own thing !!!!!!!!!!!

I've bought 15, maybe more pieces of jewelry from fluff & each one comes in a clear zip bag in a clear bubble envelope in a brown bubble envelope. Very nice packing.

Sometimes I look at her FB & see someone neg her because of the shipping charge only to see they bought an 80.00 piece of jewelry for 2.99 & was stupid enough to b^*ch about the 6.00 shipping.

I think fluffy is one of the few sellers that won't combine & still have a 99% sell through.
If you saw the quality of the jewelry she sells you would know why. It's beautiful & expensive if you buy it in a department store, the shipping charge is a bargain. It would still be a bargain at double what she charges.
Buyers keep coming back for more & more & more & the idiots that neg for shipping have blocked themselves out of one of the best deals on eBay.

Combine auctions, no way.

Feelin' frisky......

""an 80.00 piece of jewelry for 2.99 ""

If it sold for 2.99 then it's not an 80.00 piece of jewelry...it's a 2.99 piece of jewelry.....

I agree with McJane - Fluff's jewelry is very nice - even the densest buyers can't help but know that their bid really includes the s/h fee with NO combination.

I'd unblock her Fluff - sounds like you have a new fan.

Neglus - You mention "the densest buyers can't help but know" -- yet not everyone has picked up on Fluffy's repeated comments about:

"box?"

Even though it was explained by one who bought from her that it's packaged differently....

Who said it's just the buyers who can't read?

Aw, c'mon Wayne, play nice. We all tend to think in terms of our own businesses, as the posties often remind me. And some don't have a head for business at all; they do eBay for fun.

I've unblocked the lady in question and put up a bunch of things she'll probably love.

"""yet not everyone has picked up on Fluffy's repeated comments about:

HOW did you determine that exactly?

And:

"""And some don't have a head for business at all; they do eBay for fun.""

Those things are not mutually exclusive. SOME may have a head for business and have fun doing ebay. And SOME may not have head for business and still make money on ebay. It ain't rocket science.

Well, I too have done multiple purchases from fLufF. She makes it very easy to do business with and there is nothing outrageous in dealing with her. Just read, follow the rules and giggle, cause you just bought a really good item at a wonderful price. Thanks to her, I finished my Christmas shopping and shipped in time to relatives around the USA...

Some introductions are in order, I see. MingoTree and hwahwa, meet Logic.

If your claim is correct, then the Christmas gifts most of us received are worth nothing since we paid nothing for them. Oh, isn't that going to be an unpleasant surprise at the returns counter.

But don't worry. I get it, really. In your clumsy, hamfisted, illogical way you are trying to make some point about the marketplace. What neglus, Landotters and mcjane understand that you do not is that what I sell is actual department store jewelry. The value attached to that jewelry is the actual price you would pay in a department store.
