Rancher: Who has had ENOUGH of winter & is wonderin' if misscandle would provide a room for a maid who would cook/clean/pack eBay packages/made PO runs/whatever for a chance to live in her paradise!!!!
Goodness Gracious YES! Come on over. You can have your own room & bath....all the Mai Tais you can drink (after your work is done)...your own pool key. We have a lovely family with a few very well-mannered children. (Not a WORD from any of you who read my WOMD thread!)
Please let me know when your flight arrives!

South Florida peekin my head in ~ gotta get supplies and cancel plans around here, too. 85 and sunny yesterday, after 6 hours of Little League Opening Day, we have sunburns to tend to. It'll be droppin down to 45 degrees by tomorrow PM, need to go over that "how to zip a jacket" lesson with the kids. MUST call and cancel the Beach Party scheduled for Wednesday afternoon ~ too chilly for a bikini. Have you seen a winter coat that would fit Mickey and Minnie? Talk about a shopaholics nightmare, sheesh! Busy, Busy, Busy getting ready for the change in the weather!
All kidding aside, please stay safe and warm and try not to be alone ~ just in case. No driving unless it is absolutely necessary!!
You are all in my thoughts.....be careful over there on your side of the world!

Northeast Ohio here. It's rainy/snowing here as of 9 p.m. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory, until tomorrow night I think. We are right on the western edge of the warnings, so we may get missed all together, or hit be worse than they expect. I suppose we'll see in the morning.
I was without my van all last week, and have to go the PO tomorrow, so I hope it doesn't get too bad.
All of you that are east of here, take care and keep warm and safe.

MAN I can't believe how hard it is snowing. I wish I had a digital camera to take a picture of this and show you all. I HATE this weather, I hate being snowed in, I hate not being able to do anything but this does look pretty....for a minute. As long as I can get to my mailbox, the PO and the bank tomorrow it can snow till the cow's come home

Western NY checking in. Been snowing since 3pm EST, Sunday. Expected to get 10-36 in. over the next two days. Plenty of gas for the blower, food, and of course always lots of work to do around the house! This happens every year in NY- We get snow! Oh well, hope everyone is safe! My guess is we'll get about 48in. of snow in the next 3-4 days. We have about 6-8 down already.

misscandle....THANX for the invite!!!...I packed up all my stuff: mops, feather dusters, natural cleaning solutions & some duct tape for your little one - you'd be surprized how they stay outta trouble when they are duct taped to a chair! (I have 3 boys, & 3 of 3, who is 7, breaks EVERYTHING!, we just consider him "curious", so kids don't scare me!)....
So, just as I'm heading out the door, bidding the family a fond aloha, the local newsman reports that flights outta the local airports have been cancelled!...AGH!!!...Looks like I'm stuck here for the duration of the storm, with all three kids who now have tomorrow (at least) off from school...so I'm takin' the breakables & goin' to hide under my bed!!

Oh well, could be worse!

Having lived through many Winter Storm Warnings that didn't amount to squat, I have come to call the forecasting people the Weather Guessers. Stay inside as much as you can, stay warm, and think about Spring.

I'm in NYC and right now at 10:10 EST there is freezing rain falling. The sidewalk looks like it is a sheet of ice as it's been doing this intermittently all night long.
All of the schools are closed. They announced it last night when there was really not much going on. Some parochial schools are closed tomorrow as well.
I remember being a kid and there had to be a foot out there before school would close.
As of now it looks like the reports were all hype. I was very disappointed. I wanted to wake up to a foot of snow today.
We'll see what happens later. It's supposed to start up again later this afternoon.

D.C.- as we moved from outlook to projection to forecast to reality, the amount of snow predicted went from 18" to 6" to 3" to the 1" which is presently on the ground. If trends continue, I wouldn't be surprised to see it take off and head back up to the sky.

NYC checking in. We have a little freezing rain falling but nothing remotely close to a storm here.
They closed schools in anticipation of this nonsense, called in all city workers and are paying boku bucks in overtime. People were savages at the market. Fistfights at Home Depot over the last few shovels. People screaming at each other grabbing for bags of ice melt (if they could be found), Kmart's kids boots section was like a crowded rummage sale complete with pushing, shoving and cursing.
Everyone was in a panic for nothing. I can understand advising people to prepare but the warnings given by officials here got people into a complete and total panic.
We'll be lucky to get 3 inches by morning. Whoopedoo.

Lots of snow here in upstate/western NY. We got over a foot of snow last night. Schools were closed today (Yay! I got to sleep in!). I had my driveway shoveled this morning, and it stopped snowing this afternoon and I was actually able to see my driveway. A little while later and it started snowing again and now you can't see anything but white when you look out the windows. And it's REAL windy here, too. I didn't leave my house all day and won't be going anywhere tomorrow either. The roads are REAL bad. Looks like the schools will be closed tomorrow too.

of the backyard first shows a 40' Birch bent
over and the second show part of a laden pine
tree. Heavy wet stuff.

Just one more picture for posterity.
This is taken from the ground floor looking
into my back yard. The pole with the cone
of snow balancing on a squirrel baffle is
approximately 26" high and will soon slide
off.
The birdfeeder is long gone since the
squirrels figured out how to leap
20 feet from a nearby tree.

Yesterday it warmed up enough for that large
cone of snow to fall off the squirrel baffle.
DH just finished clearing all the walks and
driveway yesterday (snow blower broke & he
had a devil of a time getting parts) and
guess what MORE SNOW we only have
about 4" now but they say we will have at least 10" by morning!! I don't think I am
ever going to get to see my crocus or daffodils!
I WANNA GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!
