Well, it just happened for me. I was leaving a buyer feedback. Multiple buyer. The first 2 screens were the same, and then whamo, I got the pop-up to Buyers that said sellers can no longer leave Negative or neutral and the choices for leaving feedback on the last item only had buttons for positive and leave later!!

No Neutral or Negative options!!

Additional comment. Just left feedback for an item that sold a week ago and feedback from buyer was left on Sunday - the negative and neutral buttons were still there.

Hmmm, perhaps it is only when feedback has been left from today on that the choices are restricted or perhaps Ebay still does not know what it is doing!!

OK...I am steaming!
I was at 100%. I have 601 Positives in the past 12 months and 2 Neutrals..no Negs.
This morning I am at 99.7%

What galls me is that you can mouseover the 'How is feedback calculated' phrase beside my 99.7% and this is what a buyer would see

The Positive Feedback percentage is calculated based on the number of positive, negative and neutral ratings (including weekly Repeat Feedback) received in the last 12 months as follows:

Positives
Positives + Neutrals + Negatives

This member's 12 Month Feedback ratings
Positives: 397Neutrals: 1Negatives: 0

This member's Positive Feedback percentage

_____397____
397 + 1 + 0
= 99.7%

So they show me as only having 397 Positives in the past 12 months instead of 601 and I actually have 2 Neutrals.

My point being that no matter my Feedback score they still cannot get it right!

Mine is about 1800 short in the # of FB in last 12 months (or at least in the way it has been and continues to be displayed on the FB page). I dropped a neg and a neutral in the 12 month view too. Ebay math....

otteropp: Mine is just the same as yours, dropped from 100% to 99.7. I haven't had a negative in about 4 years, it's the neutrals that have caused the decrease for me.

I've been at 100% for the last 9 years. Now I'm at 99.8% because some idiot newbie left me 3 neutrals for no reason.

Mine drop from 100% to 99.6% because I got a neutral YESTERDAY. The good part is that she got one too
But on the auction page it still shows at 100%.
How does your auction read?

The point that I am most steamed about is that the number show that I have 601 Positives in the past 12 months but the calculation in the 'mouseover explanation' shows I have only had 397!
SO..I have 204 positives not accounted for.

Not so long ago I had been sitting at 99.9% forever because I had one negative way back. When I finally reached 200 Feedback I went back to 100%.
NOW..I am at 99.7% because they can't add 2+2

I thought that neutrals were going to be counted as .66 of a negative. Looks like they are 1:1. That isn't at all fair and neither is the reduced number of FB last 12 months. Maybe they are still adjusting?

Here is the real flaw in the system. I also just received two neutrals (and they were left properly for non-transactions). Because I stop listing during the slow summer months, my good feedback is going to drop from the 12 month calculations and my feedback percentage will be in the 70% range, even though in reality I have a 99.6% overall rating. Mind you, there are no negatives and I haven't received a negative in over three years.

This makes me glad I have my own website that is becoming more succesful every day. The more I sell there, the less I donate to eBay and the more I put in my pocket.

At a recent eBay computer software engineering course, the participants were given an awkward question to answer:

"If you had just boarded an airliner and discovered that your team of programmers had been responsible for the flight control software, how many of you would disembark immediately?"

Among the ensuing forest of raised hands only one man sat motionless. When asked what he would do, he replied that he would be quite content to stay aboard. With his team's software, he said, the plane was unlikely to even taxi as far as the runway, let alone take off.

I think the whole matter of feedback is now totally redundant.
It is no longer mutual, it is one sided.

Maybe I will put something on all my listings saying that I will no longer partake in EBay's Feedback system! Well no...that would tick off Buyers and I would probably get Negs or Neutrals.

I guess I shall try to ignore it but after working so hard to get to this point it hurts. I have had some lousy buyers in the past couple of months and have left them no feedback at all.

My feedback went from 99.9% to 99.6%, no negs for 2 years, but 3 neutrals this year.

Gotta love Ebay's math!!

You know this is most unfair to seller who don't sell at lot of items - just higher priced items. However, that being said the bottom feeders are the ones who most often complain or so it's been in my experience.

I went from 99.8 to 99.6. I really have to think about the new system, I don't wish to participate but want to avoid pissing off my customers.

100% to 99.9%
However, I don't think it is going to matter to my customers. Thank goodness for the International buyers who seem to emerge just in time to support my inevitable mid-month slump.

I have started leaving positive feedback first on all transactions, because it doesn't matter anymore.

Stone: I have pretty good sales here and steady on eCrater. Do you have your own site or listing elsewhere?

My neutrals are counted as Negs!!!!!???
The buyer thought I DID NOT DESERVE a Negative (the option was available). But, e-bay (in their god-like wisdom) has overridden the buyer and decided I deserve a Neg. Totally unfair!!! Am I missing something here?

shopchicly...you are not missing anything..

eBay did not like the % that a lot of us sellers had(discounts would have to be given)...so they made all NEUTRALS count as NEGATIVES

something like the new REPEAT feedback system...you get credit for REPEAT buyer feedback, but it has to be given on the third full moon of the 14th month of a leap year to get credit for it.

One has to wonder how long it will be until sellers put up items for a penny on a fixed price listing and use one of their buying ID's to make the purchase just to pad their feedback rankings.

Anyone dumb enough to try that lamebrained stunt deserves the NARU they'll get shortly thereafter.

eBay has automated systems that spot blatant shilling. They've been in place for years.

stone,

Better yet... you don't NEED buying ID's any more (you can't get negs/neutrals buying)

So...

1)Start a bunch of accounts... (or use your current selling/buying ones that you already have)

2)Use one...let the DSR's and Feedback drop until you're no longer happy with them

3) Switch to the next one

4) repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary throughout the course of a year

5) Use your original account to buy just one item from a seller that routinely leaves feedback. When you get your positive... you'll have 100% feedback again, and a clean slate for DSR's

6) repeat the process for the next year

It seems to me that the new feedback systems is MUCH easier to manipulate than the old way of doing things. So much for a more transparent view into how sellers do business. I don't see it as being a good move for either buyers OR sellers...

The weird thing is, my overall fedback dropped .2% due to neutrals,(I see no difference in my actual #) but my dashboard which is used for the discount has gone up steadily. I now have 5.0 in all categories, but one and that is 4.9. Crazy, crazy!!

Just got my first Neutral too. The guy had claimed the item arrived damaged. It was insured and he did not want to take it to the post office and file the claim. I offered to let him return the item for a full refund. He wanted half his money back and he keeps the item.

Made me figure he was not telling the truth about the damage so I told him file for insurance or return it but no partial refunds. That was 3 weeks ago and he waited untill today to leave the feedback.

Good One eauctionmgnt.

Here's a good one too. I know a lady that has sold on ebay about the same amount of time as I have. She is on her 4th or 5th ID due to poor FB ratings. I've had the same ID for that same 10 years and never got a negative and only one neutral which I got yesterday and today our FB is the same. Way to go ebay - I'm sure buyer feel safe now!!!!

toolhound - ebay may just consider that FB extortion in which case they may remove it. My neutral was for some (unreported) damaged as well. She all but said I broke it then wrapped and mailed it anyway. It was insure as well but she didn't want to be brother with ME filing the claim. Can you spell B#@$%!!!
