What a joke!

Yesterday I started noting the "badge" of Top-Rated Seller on several of my friends auctions. One is a friendly competitor that up until yesterday was not even a Power Seller. He has 2 auctions and 18 items in his store!

I read through the mumbo jumbo for qualifications for this "honor" and thought who wrote this stuff, they need to get a job with IRS. There are more loopholes and fine print than in my 1040 booklet.

I have checked a few times to see if I qualify since I am a silver Power Seller with 4.9 ***s across the board. I always got the response that my scores were not available.

Yesterday the "scores" were there. I really am not sure how to decipher them, I never finished my PhD, but apparently I have a few low scores in Communication (come on people, how much chat do you want from me??I tell you when I ship, etc) and shipping costs.

After I saw the Top-Seller badge on one of the auctions. I peeked again later last night, gone, poof, vanished. This morning they are back again.

Why does Ebay think they need to keep reinventing this site?? How many hoops do we need to jump through? Perhaps you have a better chance to be a Top-Rated Seller if you sell fewer items and thus have less of a chance to get your stars dinged.Or tell your buyers, please do not leave feedback.

Just ranting!!

My stars are 4.95 across the board. I don't qualify because someone almost a year ago dinged the carp out of my description star. Even two weeks ago when they were 5's (I HATE this DSR garbage), I didn't qualify. They are going back one year with the Top Seller qualifiers. I think that's nonsense. They don't get that there are competitors out there that would happily buy from you just to ding you.

Cheryl, you are right!! Who thinks of these things?? We are to be penalized for some silly ding a year ago.

I've given up trying to decipher their rules.

The only good I have noticed so far is that it has not lowered my search. I am still higher in the search than my acquaintance that has the Top Rating.

Ridiculous!!

It is a real scam! I sold over 2000 items the last yr. 1183 gave a feedback, of those there were 15 that scored me in the 1-2 range.

Not across the board just in shipping costs. So for the 4732 possible rating slots for this group, 15 came in at 1 or 2.

this places me at 1.5% of the 1-2 scores. so no top rated badge for me.

The more you sell the more the chance this will happen. If you sell a group to one buyer they may leave only one feedback. or if they are mad at you then you get low rates for all of the buys.

If you sell a lot over seas they don't count. (about 30% of my sales!)

If it was just about a name who cares. it is about placement and discounts. this will hurt a lot of people.
The more items you sell the more this will disrupt our business.

I don't understand it. It says I qualify but I only see 1-2's back for past 3 months. Where are you seeing 12 mo old ratings? I never did see the super seller logo on my listings

When I go to my Seller's Dashboard, there is a link to see if you qualify. I have clicked on it about 10 times, only once did it show the data, other times it says that information is not available at this time.

I never even dreamed I had any 1s or 2s. Silly me. I assumed (I know, I know) that if a person thought I was negligent in any area the least they would give was a 4!! Silly me, again.

Just checked the link again and now the info is here.

700 transactions (bad year), by count I can only have 2 baddies for each category. I have 3 for Communication .53% (I am going to send each buyer a candygram on their birthdays from now on and bombard them with emails every other day) and 5 for S /H .89%. Shame, shame!! Free shipping for all and a pot of gold in every box!! Think it will work??

merrie - does yours show transactions for past 3 months or a full year? Mine says "Evaluation period: Apr 2009 - Jun 2009" .

My active selling account shows the same as Merrie's. My other account has just been down graded from power seller last week because I have not sold anything there in months, it says I have a Top Rated seller rating but has a yellow flag by the Power Seller comment. Not sure if that means it would have the badge if I listing something or not.

I have not seen the Top Rated seller badge on anyones listings this week.

That is strange. When I look at that listing or any other listings from that seller, all I see is a Power Seller badge but no TSR icon.

I had stopped selling for weeks so I wasn't following any of the new changes.

When I came into Vendio I read this topic and then went to check and see if I had the Top Rated Seller Badge and I was shocked to see that I had it. So today I listed some auctions, and the badge shows up in all the auctions I listed. I was really waiting for Sept to start listing again since I felt these summer months usually are slow.

I don't really understand the purpose of this Badge, because before if your rating was good you got back some percent depending on your DSR's I guess. So why the Top Rated Seller Badge?

It is strange. It has different questions listed, etc. Sometimes the badge is there, sometimes it is not. Good old, Ebay!!

tonimar1 asks: So why the Top Rated Seller Badge?

The Top Rated Seller Badge shows up when you search for items. Basically, it gives you a bit more visibility when people see the badge.

Another rant about my 1s and 2s on COMMUNICATION!! I thought Ebay didn't really want us to COMMUNICATE. They send out invoices for us, they hide email addresses, etc. What more can we do?? How much COMMUNICATION do complete strangers want from their sellers??

I was top rated yesterday but not today. Just more eBay garbage. If they want to be Amazon I wish they would just do it and stop incrementalizing (vocabularian=one who makes up words).

Lt Ray: I checked that buyer's items again and the Top-Rated Seller badge is on his items. I do not see it on his list of items at the top where Power Seller logo is, but it is on the items if you go to any one of them, store or auction. (Right now, anyway, who knows what might happen in 10 minutes from now)

Merrie, I looked again and cannot see it on either of my VISTA laptops when logged into ebay so I went to our desktop XP machine and looked at them without logging in and can see it on his listings and on my listings.

I don't see it on any of my listing signed in or signed out! (using xp desktop - FF and IE)

Here's what my dashboard says:
Detailed seller ratings

Your low ratings
3 months
Item as described 0.12%(1)
Communication 0.12%(1)
Shipping time 0.24%(2)
Shipping & handling charges.00%(0)

I had 832 transactions - maybe that is why I just get a 3 month analysis instead of a 12 month?

Makes no sense - if it starts in OCtober, why are they showing it NOW ..if showing SOME , why not show ALL??? Is there search advantage already too?

Neglus, I can see it on your listings too.

I ran my virus and adaware scans tonight. Ad-aware flagged a cookie from RightMedia and I immunized it. I can now see TSR when viewing listings on my laptop. Could be a coincidence. Who knows, who cares <g>

Wow, I just did a search on ebay and the TSR is showing on the search pages for sellers who have the rating. It certain grabs your attention. Unfortunately, I think it many cause the listings of many good sellers who do not have the rating to be overlooked.

I saw it in my listings and on search pages yesterday too. If yesterday is any indication, it had NO positive effect on sales!

DUH - It would help if I read about the TSR program.

"The time period over which a seller's low DSRs are evaluated will depend on sales volume: For sellers with 400 or more transactions over the past 3 months, it's 3 calendar months. For all other sellers, it's 12 calendar months."
http://pages.ebay.com/sell/July2009Update/Details/index.html#1-2

So, if you want to knock off some ancient bad DSRs and are close to the 400 number it may make sense to run a bunch of listings to boost your annual transaction number so you are evaluated on 90 days rather than full calendar year.

Remember the "good old days" when all you had to worry about were undeserved negs??

Now people leave gloriously worded + feedback and stab you in the back with 1s and 2s.
