Gracious ....

Yep, this is a horrendous problem! Where are the environmentalist? The problem fixers? The changers?
BP needs to write a blank check and pick up all the cost.
However, what about the future of the marshes, the Gulf, all life in this area?

FIX THE LEAK!!!!!

Check Jimmy Carter's Executive Order 12123 regarding Offshore Oil Pollution -

The fault should be directed at the U.S. Government which has the responsibility to protect the environment from offshore oil spill damage.

BP has already stated that they would pay damages, and the Courts will weigh in after, to rule on compensation claims of inadequacy.

BP has to advertise, and continue with their business, as the profits and stock value will help provide the cash to compensate those harmed by this accident.

If BP collapses, who will pay for the clean-up and compensate victims?

Tough talk sounds great, but it will not solve this problem which was allowed to occur because of the failure of government agencies to do their jobs.

What a tangled web we weave ...

"British Resist Push for BP to Halt Dividends"

"Investors in Britain were particularly furious about the suggestions that BP should not pay a dividend until it cleaned up the oil spill. BP’s dividend payment accounted for about £1 of every £8 handed out by British companies last year, according to FairPensions, a London-based charity."

Or how about -

"Obama Scolding BP on Dividend Favors Fishermen Over Retirees"

“It’s a horrible thing that happened, but how do you decide a fisherman has priority over a grandmother who needs a pension to sustain herself?” said Christine Tiscareno, an analyst at Standard & Poor’s in London. “The company’s not running away from any of its obligations, and if it were up to Tony, they would pay the dividend.”

Just like any bad relationship - it takes two to tango. BP, and the government agencies, have to assume reponsibility for this horrific mess.

This is not eBay's problem. Let ebay make whatever it can by displaying the BP ads.

I'm not certain anyone has said ebay shouldn't advertise, I just said they don't care. They don't care how they get advertising dollars, as long as they get them. This is the American way. Nobody cares unless it is in their backyard. Everyone who has made comments have backed this up many times over. Stories including the little old retiree who is afraid they are going to take her dividend, the fishermen, the Louisiana politicians that want to get deep water drilling back online today, or the people lined up at BP/Arco stations saving 10 cents a gallon on gas ($2 on a 20 gallon tank). It is always about who gets pinched and who has to pay.

Oh, the beauty of Capitalism. Everyone wants the benefits, but nobody wants the responsibility. As long as your pockets are being filled... who cares??? Greed, nothing more nothing less.

Hmmmm... it beats socialism? I'm not sure how one beats the other when this country uses aspects of capitalism and socialism within our government.

Why is it that a majority of Americans are anti-socialism, pro-military... yet our military is one of the most socialist aspects of America? Seems a bit odd.

US Military= government housing, government health care, free education, VA Home Loans, Government Retirement Pension, Government Disability.

I am in no way advocating Capitalism or Socialism... but I always find it hypocritical when it comes to the anti-socialist argument.

hmmmmm
I did not say this country is purely capitalist. I said capitalism IMO is better than socialism.

YUP, the lean toward socialism is well noted....at least to folks that are paying attention.

Have a great weekend.
