As many of you here know, our little dog Lauren has not been well. I had a thread about her a couple of months ago. We recently found out she had cancer and it was spreading. This morning we had to have her put down. So if you'll all humor me, I'm going to try and post a couple of pictures of her if I can see through all these darned tears.

Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to you on the
loss of your little Lauren
You have had to make the hardest
decision a mom can make. You did what was
right for your little one, but I know how
heavy your heart must be. Post away, she was

Zilvy - thanks for the hugs. As I sit here sniffling, I am reminded of my other dog that I used to have named Cliffie. He died two years ago. But that dog could always tell when I was about to start crying. The very second I would choke up, he would put his ears back and walk over to me and just stare at me, as if to say "What's wrong?". The amazing part was that I have always had allergies, and for me to sit around sniffing was a very normal thing. But he could tell the difference between allergy sniffing and crying sniffing. I sure miss that dog. And I'm going to miss that little Lauren. Dogs are one of God's best creations.

Thanks, everybody.
Geez, my nose just about unplugs and then I start in again. I'm going to have one heck of a sinus headache before the day is over.

Hi Muriel - I'm so sorry to learn that you've lost Lauren. I know how special she was to you. She's so lucky to have had an owner that loved her and I'm betting spoiled her a little too. My prayers are with you.
Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

Oh Muriel, you have my deepest sympathies. Making that decision for a beloved member of the family is one of the hardest decisions to deal with. We've been there, and know the heartache.

Very sorry for you and very happy that you are not the selfish sort to make her suffer to keep her around just a little bit longer.
Hard thing to do...

I'm sorry to hear about Lauren. It's always a hard decision to make, but she was lucky to have a good owner. I'm sure it's difficult now. I know it was when we had to put our dog to sleep a few years ago, but I really smile now when I find a picture of him and remember what a character he was.

As I sit here and look at my new puppy curled up in a ball under my desk, I know you have lots of grief in your heart. You did the right thing by not letting her suffer anymore. That is the greatest gift we can give to our animal friends, although it is the hardest decision for us.
I know your memories will be a comfort for you.

I can not even begin to imagine what you and your family are feeling right now. I am so sorry for your loss, as are Chepi & Starr. Our dogs add so much to our lives yet ask so little in return. The warmth and affection they so readily offer is like no other relationship that exists.
Lauren will be happy up in Heaven ~ playing and being healthy. You have truly given her a gift. Your strength and courage is commendable. Please look to the comfort of good friends and family to get you through this difficult time.
Thank you for sharing your love and pictures with us ~

Thanks, again, everybody. We put away Lauren's dish, and her bed, and her leash. I thought I would put everything out of sight so when my daughter comes home she won't be any sadder than she is.
My husband is one of those people who feels better by rehashing and rehashing the situation over and over. I just want to pretend it didn't happen and go on with my life. So I just about get my eyes dry, and he has to say "Poor little girl... there's the sunbeam she always layed in".
When my grandson comes home tomorrow night from his other grammy's house, we have to explain to him where Lauren went. I'm not looking forward to that.

It has been just over a year since we lost our little black and tan dachsie to heart disease. I miss him every day. There is nothing in the world like a dachsie.

What a pretty little dog she was, Muriel. My sympathies to you and family...I know how you feel...we had our Boxer Queenie, and a few years later our Great Dane Duke, put to sleep for cancer, too.
