In no particular order:
First of all, I am the Three hundredth post - whoo hooooo! Second of all, my three key is broken, third of all, I am popping this back to the first page to see how everyone's doing, and fourth of all I tried to quit AGAIN Monday, made it till 5 pm, had a hair cut/bleach appointment where everyone was smoking, and caved by five-thirty. Starting again March 15. Jeeeeeez. SO... how are you guys doing??

{{{{{Rocker}}}}}, you just keep on hanging in there and you will get there in the long run. You know I am very proud of you, because you could have just let us think that you were going at the same pace as everyone else. But no you are too honest to do that and you admit everytime you fall. So that shows what a great person you are and I just know that one day you will wake up and say today is the day. That day is not too far away for you Jan and I am still here for you to yell at when you need me.

Congratulations to you all. It is a very hard thing to control, the old cravings. Most of us never get over wanting a smoke at some time or other, especially when we are under stress. But hang in there one and all because you have come this far and you will continue to strive ahead without the dreaded "Nic" being a destructive force in your life.

Hi everyone!

Well..........I cracked........broke down........and smoked today. It really tastes bad and I have a headache from it but I totally stressed myself out today and fired one up. I SUCK!

I hope everyone else is doing good out there!

I think I need a pity party........does anyone know how to have one of those?

Hi Yadda No need for a pity party - breaking down and having one smoke isn't so terrible. I've had two now and I refuse to feel guilty cause by my calculations that's still about six hundred less than I would have had... not bad.

If it makes you feel better I not only caved and had another cigarette - but actually smoked it while I was so sick with the flu that I couldn't even enjoy it... how dumb is that!!! I'll bet all the new non-smokers can relate to the feeling though.

Btw Yadda, We don't suck - nicotine does! Hang in there!

Well it is a couple of days since anyone posted in this thread and it was getting buried.

How is everyone doing??? Great I hope.

I am cheering for each and everyone of you, and I hope that even if you did not win the battle this time, you will get right back up on that horse and continue to fight until you come out the other end the victor.

Special Hugs for {{{{{ Rocker }}}}}

Hope you are feeling better. We all love you.

Hi guys! I'm still hanging in there. Cravings for nicotine come and go. However, cravings for anything to eat are still constant. This is really bad for me since I am already very large. I guess I'll work on one problem at a time. The weather is turning more springlike. I hope it will make me want to go outside and walk.

Glad to see you're still hanging tuff sweetie!
I'm still carrying around the same pack ~ it's been two weeks and there are still three left pretty nasty tasting, yukky smell, gives me ashtray breath, BUT...
I can't seem to let go ~ it's kind of like loosing your woobie ~ what happens when you let go of the ratty old blankie? Do you remember? I mean, I guess we all made it, we're here and, well, I don't know about you, but my teddy bear and blankie are no where in sight it's the actual letting go that I can't seem to get right.
Cutting back was a lot easier ~ I can't remember the last time I smoked in the house. Or in anyone else's house, for that matter! The kids think I quit months ago. I rarely, if ever, smoked around Mark. Cutting down was not so bad. but giving it up completely? eventually, I guess!
I'm still hangin tuff with you! I think we smell pretty good ~ take a walk in the fresh air and sunshine ~ where ever you go, we're all right there with you under the same sky.
SMOOOOOOCH!!
*walking away smiling at my mushy self*

Hi Bootsnana & Chepi

Aren't we doing great!!!!

I'm still having nicotine cravings from time to time too but they aren't anywhere near as bad as in the beginning. I think it's a combination of the Wellbutrin and the hypnosis tapes. I've had 4 smokes since March 02 - so I haven't put them down totally either but the beauty of it is that I can go for hours without even thinking about lighting up. I never thought I'd see the day!

Boots I definitely need to start walking again too. I'm drinking a ton of water and chewing on straws to help pacify the munchies.... still getting a tight fit on my jeans though.... ughhhhhh!

Chepi I know what you mean about putting them down 100%. But, it was a lot harder for me to think about quitting when I thought of it as forever. Now I just tell myself that I can have one every few days if I want... then I don't feel the pressure of "FOREVER!!!!" Maybe one day I'll be able to think about it being forever.... not today though.

BTW, I heard from Rocker She's gonna rejoin us soon. She's working a lot lately.

Yadda Did you get past your rough time? Hang in there!

Hey peeps, I just had to add my story. I quit smoking on August 23rd 2000. Still cigarette free today. Know I will never smoke again, because after 45+ years of smoking it was the hardest thing I have ever done. BUT I SUCCEEDED Why?
I took a page from the nuns who taught me my catachism (sp) back when I was a child (you know, about the time Noah unloaded his ark) They used to tell us that the easiest sin to avoid was the first one. What they meant was, once you committed the first sin, the second one was easier to commit and harder to avoid.
Well I kept telling myself that. The easiest cigarette to avoid is the first one- if I let myself talk myself into just one it will be all over. AND FOR ME IT WORKED. Let me tell you this retired teacher of 65 years, now has over $120 dollars a month extra, no sweat no hassle. It is great. Each month at the end of the month I take half and put intin the savings account and the other half I spend on anything I feel like. IT IS FUN.
I wish you all good luck. If I could do it, anyone can do it. I was awful- about as addicted as anyone can be!! And now my only problem is the smell of cigarette smoke makes me nauseous. That I can live with LOL.

zoomin, my brother in law had a packet of smokes that had to sit in the cabinet for 6 years after he gave up smoking. He just liked to know that they were there. Now that is will power. If I had of had a pack of cigs I would have smoked them. LOL

My sister finally threw them out. She had to sneak them away, first she moved them to the back of the cabinet and left them there for about 6 mths, and when he did not notice that they had gone she moved them to the top of the cabinet for a few months, and finally threw them in the bin.

She says that if he asks about them she is just going to say that she doesn't know where they are now, and I guess she will be telling the truth.

You may be like Paul and need the comfort of knowing that they are close by just in case you need them at some stage. Like I said I could not do that. I know my limitations and I am not sure if even now after 5 months that I could stop myself from having a puff if I knew that there were cigs in the house all the time, let alone carry a packet with me for any length of time.

You are doing just fine, I would say you are over the worst. If you can carry that pack and still not give in, you are going great guns. CONGRATULATIONS.

On Tuesday I'll have 1 month. I haven't wanted to jinx it by actually saying it... but there it is. Thanks for everyone's good wishes. I hope you are all doing well. Even if we've cut down on the number of smokes each day, we're all winners.
