I love Rye Bread.......but I do not have a good recipe for it. There is a great deli in Edison, New Jersey actually celebritydeli.com
They will overnight the best rye bread you ever had. I know it's a little extreme....but I will try to cruise the net and my cookbooks and look for a recipe for you.

Hello all! citygirl: Sorry to hear about the car. It's always a bummer to have things not work when one is expecting them to. I have been having a week like that.
Went to the dentist last week and a surface cavity turned out to be the start of a root canal which in turn didn't take and I had to have emergency dental done yesturday.
The weather stinks and since the dress has been done I can't figure out where or what project to start on next. Any ideas? Maybe baking rye bread. <giggle>
Send a dose of chicken pox this way. My oldest had it 5 times before she finally got it bad enough to quit. The last time she got them 2 weeks later the twins got them and 2 weeks later the 2 year old and 2 weeks later the baby. Sounds like the flu bug that went around here a month or so ago. 6 weeks later I finally have no sick kids. The 6th kid had them a couple years ago but little one hasn't. They did give her the shot but I don't know how reliable that is.
Well all it's off to soccer practice, McDonalds, pick up the oldest from track and find the church for the last AWANA's of the year. Hope you all have a great evening and Happy Easter (in case I don't get back here before then). Thank for the smiles!!!!! http://www.homestead.com/mainelymontanacrafts/index.html

What is everyone doing for Easter? We will do the Easter Sunrise Service and then have an egg hunt with the kids, and weather permitting a picnic. Whats Easter without Ham???

DadnMom,
That was cute.
I do not have any idea how to make bread, but rye, sure does sound good to me! I love bread, especially homemade. YUM

dadnmom-Thanks for the cute story, it made me smile! It reminded me of another day when my car broke down, this is a true story. I used to drive a 79 Volare (best car I ever had) so one day it wouldn't start. Often, I had to go under the hood and open the choke manually so I did this but the battery was drained from many unsuccessful attempts at starting the car. My girlfriend was over so we decided to push my car into the road and jump it with her car. Of course, this is all in the dead of winter with ice several inches thick on the ground. Have you ever tried to push a car with no traction? It was not easy but after we used an entire bag of salt, we were able to at least get moving a little. Now, 2 of my friends were over-one of whom is very thin and petite so we decided she should steer and my other friend and I would push. Well after many minutes of all out exertion, we still couldn't budge the vehicle and we were beginning to think it was hopeless-then my friend poked her head out the car window and said "Can I take my foot off the brake now?!"
Now I've made myself smile! Broken car update- my fiancee is home and he thinks the problem is a dead battery so tomorrow we'll get cables and see what happens then.
Thanks to all for keeping me smiling (even if I was gritting my teeth) through this difficult day.

forshoppin-Hi! If you are bored I could think of lots of projects for you-lol!
jtw-Now you have made me want to get the bread machine out and make some sourdough-my favorite! Btw, your Easter sounds wonderful! I think we have to go up North to see family so we will not even be able to go to our home church Oh well, life goes on!
Happy Easter to all-just in case I don't get back here!

We always have ham also, but I do not like ham! I guess, we have it anyway because of tradition. Two of my kids won't even touch meat, and the other two really do not care much for it, either! My husband loves it, but does that count? LOL
We don't do the Easter egg hunt anymore, my husband is trying to finish up tax returns, so we aren't really planning much! Oh well, at least I don't have to clean the house for company! So I am happy!

forshoppin: If you need a project, I think I can help you out...come over anytime. LOL. Sure hope your mouth feels better today. Why is it that no matter what is wrong when you go the dentist....it end up that you need a root canal? Five times with chicken pox...yuck. That doesn't sound like much fun. Sure sounds like you had a busy day. Hope you enjoy your Easter.
jtw74: We don't do much for Easter actually. Dad's daughter is with her mom, but we send her a little basket of goodies. My son is grown, and I send him a basket of goodies. Food....well we eat most things, but with this meat 'scare only' thing we are doing lots and lots of pastas, Mexican food, veggie dishes, healthy stuff. Although we celebrate Passover we are not kosher, and love ham. Yams, corn bread, ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, salad....yummy.
deichen: I do not know how to bake bread either, but I love homemade bread. A cute little aside: when I was a new bride (many century's ago), I had my turn at making bread. I followed the directions. It said cover and put in a dark place for how many ever hours to raise. Well I took it literally - and the only dark place I could think of was under the bathroom sink in this tiny apartment we started out in. LOL When I went to retrieve the dough...it had risen and covered everything under the sink, even the pipes.
Citygirl1: Your car story was funny (although at the time I am sure it wasn't)...I can see that too. Having lived in Jersey I know what it is like.....ouch! I am sure you all laugh about it now. Hope you got your battery fixed today.
Wishing all a Happy Passover, and a Happy Easter !!!

But, I did especially want to share Happy Easter Wishes with all of you! Have A FUN Day with your families.
Since my son lives in New Jersey, and I won't get to give him a hug, I was hoping Sunday, someone would give an extra hug to one of their kids for me. Thanks

YAY for me-so glad it wasn't something major but it goes to show how mechanically challenged I am! Thanks to all of you for letting me vent here!
Happy Easter to all!!!!

Ok. Its been over a month now since "Say something nice day" ended. On top of that, Easter is now over as well. So what do you say we turn this into say something not so nice day and get this stupid thread off of here? There.... I feel better now.

tomwiii: Yes very happy now. So nice to have a new person say booga. That's one thing you never get tired of hearing.
Your elevator story is is an oldie but a goodie, and I sure send it right back your way. So with these smiles in place.....hope your day goes well, and that you can let go of the small things that bother you.
bartolocolon40: Oh my....over a month of saying Nice Things ! Yikes...I always knew that folks wanted to say and hear nice remarks instead of inflamatory, upsetting things all the time. Gosh, I don't know what Easter has to do with it other than we did wish people a nice Easter (we are Jewish), but I do know this thread was started for folks just like you - who NEED a smile in their life.
It sure worked, some of that anger must be gone by now, because you said
"I feel better now"
Yes, this thread works.....
Of over six thousand nine hundred posts in this area of AW, this is the one you find to share anger over? Grab a smile...Please.
We have plenty, and will make more as the day goes on.
You have a nice day ....

Good Morning Friends! I was afraid this wonderful thread would be locked before I could post! It is a beautiful day where I live. I love spring! New growth and life is all around! God is in His Heaven and it is well with my soul.
I did not forget your quest for a good rye bread recipe.... I have come across a few web-sites that are promising....I hope they will help (at least put you in the right direction for a good recipe for rye bread).
There is a site called (bread.com) It's at least a start...Rye bread recipes are difficult to find (for me anyway), but I did try. I typed rye bread in the search engine, then I tried bread recipes.......not much for rye.......I am sorry I couldn't help you more.

Just keeping this to the top
A beautiful, albeit cold, morning. Everything is in bloom. My dogwood tree is absolutely gorgeous this year full of white blossoms, my pear tree even bloomed for the first time in 5 years!
Here's hoping for warmer days so I can get out and walk, walk, walk to get better faster.
Can't say anything bad anymore, because to me and my family and friends, everyday is now a great day. It's great to be alive! It's great to get out of bed in the morning. Heck, I'm looking forward to washing all my 27 windows.. (not )

Mtnmama,
Welcome back, glad you are feeling better. What a scare you had. Surely you jest about the windows. I am sure you should not be doing stuff like that for quite a while. Who cares about the windows anyway? Mine always have handprints (and the occasional thrown food) on them.
I just read the other chat and I agree with you 100%. The feedback system does need to be changed and the bidbay bucks are ridiculous, also about the begging for feedback. I had a topic about that, but like most of my posts, they get deleted . I am glad you spoke about these things.

dadnmom,
I have been wanting to ask...why was the original paragraph that started this topic, deleted?
Have a wonderful day.
Really good to see you up, and around. I know it's been a rough haul for you. I hope your daughter and hubby are keeping you in tow. LOL....but, I doubt it.
Being ill really is a rough thing. How is all that walking working out? It's really important that you do it though. I should do more than I do, but never seem to find the time lately. Did you know if you go to the Sea World web page, you can watch Shamu swim around? Yep, and it's kind of fun...they call it their shamucam. If you visit the parks in California and Florida, they take your picture when you enter the park..and post them on the web page that night.
The weather here is a bit nippy (for Calif), but that's ok. High sixties later today I think, although it doesn't feel like it. I was trying to find a recipe for rye bread for jtw74, but was not able to find one. Did you see the prom dress that forshoppin finished? It is beautiful. allykat, hello from yesterday...Citygirl1, & deichen.
bartolocolon40 was kind enough to point out that this thread is over a month old. That's so cool that people have had nice things to say for that amount of time, and so nice of him to point it out, that I had to mention it , and say thank you again. You don't often find that kindness where people will take the time to help.
Have A Nice Day! I wish somewhere in everyone's Day some Sunshine Will Fall!

Hello all! I am so glad this thread is still here. One of the bright spots in my emails. I have been so busy I don't know whether I am coming or going. If any of you happen to see a crazed woman in a two-tone brown van drive by stop me and head me home.
The weather has been very strange but that doesn't stop track, tball or soccer. The visits to the dentist have been weekly but at least the dentist is very, very good looking! <giggle> And my teeth are starting to feel better and thus my mood has improved. The babysitter also managed to do the impossible and my baby is potty trained. Yippee!!!!!
However, that prom girl got her drivers license Monday and mom is having to adjust to that. What a strange sensation to let one of your children take a car. And I think the stranger thing is letting her siblings ride with her. Life sure can be interesting and a lot of fun.
deichen: I am glad someone else's windows have finger prints, nose prints and occassional food. Nothing like looking at the world through a smear or smudge!!!!!
Just listed some flannel quilts on my auctions. You can find the link to my crafts on my web page. My mother made these and they are wonderful.

Hello all!! Well we actually saw some sunshine her in South Jersey today-I had forgotten what it looked like!
Mtnmama- I am so glad to see you are feeling a little better. My grandma went through that same problem about 3 years ago and she recovered quite nicely and has been ordering us all around ever since-just like she always did!! Make sure to listen to the Docs and I'm sure you will be feeling fine in no time! My fiancee and I have kept you in our prayers.
Dadnmom-Hi! I saw your posts on the "Say Something bad day" thread and you are just too cool!! I'm glad you don't take anyone's complaints and ravings personally. And you always make me smile

What a nice thing for her to do. WOW! Don't people make you feel good when you are down in the dumps?
deichen: LOL, well I was trying to change a mis-spelled word, and deleted it....however, it was absolutely very clever and witty....(:~)
Mtnmama: Less posting and MORE WALKING......told ya! told ya! Now I'm gonna scold ya! LOL
forshoppin: I remember the day my son got his license.....it was devastating to let him take the car alone for the first time. He was a senior in HS. They all went to Mickey D's for lunch. I have a sports car. It was raining, and he hydroplaned on the wet driveway. No kids hurt, but he hit his friends car. I asked the mom to let us know what the cost would be, but her cousin owned a repair shop, so she turned it in to the insurance co. Sons rates went up for a couple years, but that was a long time ago. Wait til the first time she isn't on time .... The worry's are just a blessing I guess. I know your more excited about the potty trained child....YEAH! What a sitter you have......
My son does not live at home, and I have a few fingerprints on the windows. Good luck with your daughter driving...don't get to nervous.
Well to all you wonderful people, I hope the sun shines down upon your day, and puts a smile into even the hardest of hearts.
