DadNMom: Got the email and many thanks to you. The surfs around the world link wouldn't work though. The rest are great and the kids and I have had fun checking out the different things.
Am really enjoying the new computer and getting things listed. Worked on my web page also. It's nice to be getting into the groove again. Kids seem to be well and busy.
Hope everyone here is having a wonderful day. I am off to clean a little, check out the absolutely gorgeous weather, see if I can figure out why daughters truck won't start and whatever else might arise.

Does anyone have a beautiful verse or poem about graduation? I need something for my daughter. I have tried searching and found one written for a son from mom, but nothing else that even came close to what I want to say.
My quote for the day....
When you are unhappy, is there anything more maddening than to be told that you should be contented with your lot?

forshoppin: I sent you another link, and will post it here for everyone else. It is really good.....and I hope you can open it.
Deichen: I do not know of any,. Why don't you just write what's in your heart - and I bet it will be more beautiful than any store card, but I'll look anyway.
I will be back in a little while to say hello, rant, and otherwise leave smiles and hugs.

nanabees: Gutsy anyway, to me......... Yep! Springs Jams, totally cool. It is beautiful here, and I love it. Flowers have been blooming here for awhile already, and they are really pretty. Surf was so this morning at best, but it can't be great everyday I guess.
I am on the computer most of the day also......I do a lot of work, so to get a little break and pop in here gives me a smile. Today I learned about The American Cancer Society from Sallyhoffman's post....it was really interesting, and I put a couple links on her page. Cancer info is near and dear to me (some of you know why)...........
I so totally never thought about people other that what post here, might get a smile, and look in from time to time. HELLO to you all.
Ok, let's all say that 5 letter word now - S M I L E
forshoppin: LOL Well I quickly answered you this morning when I came back in the house, and had to leave again.....A running around day today. I hope the other link worked for you...I know it works for me......A lot of the early morning California links are great, because that is when most surfers are out (before work)..........if not you get to see the waves, and walkways, (boardwalks if you live back east).
deichen: I don't know if that little link helped, but it looked like someone put some time into it...........I had an awful time when my son graduated (boys are just not mushy like girls)....besides the big party and all that stuff, I gave him a copy of
Dr. Seuss "Oh the places you'll go", and I wrote all the MOM Stuff on the inside of the book. He tells me today, that it is his most treasured possession (after autographed baseball cards etc). The book is so right for a graduate .... If you can't find it I would be happy to look for it, and send you a copy.
The yahoo front page news says "Los Angeles worst for commuting" well that was a surprise for us all! LOL, and they had to do a study on it.......LOL LOL
Hugs to Babe!
Ok, here is my fun link of the day: Did you ever want to be an astronaut? Does your child? here is the coolest site for kids (and the kid in all of us)....

A Good Morning to All.
I sure hope that everyone had a wonderful day yesterday,, and that today sails along as smoothly. We have some rolling black-outs here and there, but we have been lucky so far. We just lost our phone ringing one day, and power once during the middle of the night once. A long summer ahead. Darn digital everything...had to be re-set.
Today? lets visit Chicago and go to the Shedds Aquarium...I have been there, it is awesome.

I forgot this Baseball link yesterday....sorry!

I have been busy, we are getting ready to powerwash our deck and then restain and seal it. A big job, hopefully we can get it done before it gets too hot. Bugs are already swarming and I am very allergic to bites.
Quote for the day:
If you educate a man you educate a person, but if you educate a woman you educate a family.
- Ruby Manikan
I sympathize with you over the allergy's to bugs etc. My son is allergic to bee stings (Big Time).
When he was 2 he got bitten on the bottom of the foot, going barefoot in the yard (that is how we found out).......Well after that we had the injection (that the Dr. prescribed for him) always on hand. Age 3, a bee stung him - in of all places the white part of his eye (they just fly rather fast ya know) Very Bizarre place. The white part started to come out of his eye like a jelly-roll. It took 3 of us to hold him down to administer the injection. Within seconds the white part rolled like slow motion right back into his eye socket. Rushed him right to the ER, and that shot saved his life. Ever since he has to carry a fresh kit with him everywhere. They expire after a certain date, so he turns them in to the Pharmacy (they send them back to the drug Co. for proper disposal of the filled syringe). He is 24 now, and still carries them where ever he goes (bee season or not), and Benedryl lotion. I know they have pills but he hates to even take aspirin, so that's out.
Just be careful. I love your Quote today....so Cool. There is a line in the movie Jerry McGuire that goes something like, "I'm not looking for a man, I am trying to raise one"....or something like that. I like that one to.

dadnmom: The link worked fine this time. I am in love!!!! This new computer automatically refreshes so I just have to sit and view. Now if I had the time to SIT! However, it's fun for a short break and I just love the ocean so much. Thanks many times over!!!!!
I used to work at a plant that manufactured the bee sting kits - in fact that was the department that I started in. We inspected the meds in the syringes and then finished assembling them. I actually got to the point where I was mixing and measuring the serum. I enjoyed that job.
Well things are busy, busy, busy here as usual. I don't get on as much as I would like nor do I get to list auctions as much as I would hope to do. I did get the big (queen size bed) denim quilt sewed today. It's a gift for M-I-L and I have one afghan (S-I-L) done and one (B-I-L) about half way there. My mother also got 2 corduroy quilts (nieces) built so we are ready for the relatives from Iowa.
All together my mother and I have built 20 childrens quilts over the last 3 months. All the nephews and nieces are getting them as Christmas gifts. And then I wonder why I haven't had time for anything?

Hello all! I'm a little short on smiles today but I do have 18 extra that you all can have for free.
Forshoppin-I am so envious of your quilting ability! I do crafts (knit, crochet, embroidery, etc.) since my mom and grandma taught me when I was about 5 years old but neither one of them was into quilting and I have never learned how ! Oh well, let's just say I haven't learned how...yet.
Dadnmom-I love your daily links that you've been posting here. Now, not only do we have Deichen's cool daily sayings, but your cool daily links-I like this thread more all the time.
I hope everyone's having a great day!

Aha, forshoppin, now I know what is in the box my mother keeps saying she is sending. Oh, wait, she already told me when she called on Saturday, the conversation involved birthdays and then packages as I recall.
I sure hope she sends it soon so I can steal mine back from the kidlet.
I have many smiles for all of you today (as you can tell from my ID, this doesn't happen often). The reason is that I hired a new demonstator, I got pics & auction descriptions done early, and got a bunch of paper work done. So take smiles if you need them. I have enjoyed this fun thread!

hey all! I finally made it to the site so I can say something. Feels like I'm going in circles most days as I am trying to organize so if the Navy loses something in the move I'll know what it is! Love reading this in my email everyday. Been meaning to respond to a lot and get distracted & never make it in here.
My name - I was trying to come up w/ something for my avon site & finally it hit me (yep, just like a ton of bricks). My last name is alley so my site would be avonalley. Of course then the ideas started rolling & since most my stuff is crafts (well, it was until I fell behind in making things) 'craftalley'. Simple & a little corny, but that runs in the family.
Lost half my thoughts now, but that happens late at night after a day of chasing 2 munchkins. Hope all have a glorious day!

forshoppin: I am so glad that the links worked. The ocean is calming (even if you have to check it out on a link, I am so lucky to see it everyday). A small world isn't it - regarding the bee sting injections, and your working there too....how cool. All those quilts.....wow!
I admire anyone that can put 2 pieces of fabric together. I can put in a hem, sew on a button, a quick and small repair, and then from there the tailor gets all my clothes. She is a really cool lady from Europe, and she is so booked it is difficult to get an appointment to get a fitting. She has 2 other ladies that work for her, and they are all aware of what is going on in the shop. She is expensive, but very worth it. Holiday gifts already? Yikes.........I am not even thinking about that yet. I have checked out your site, and you do beautiful work. I'll be getting some things from you closer to the holidays.
Citygirl1: So good to see you again.....it has been a while. I know exactly what you mean about being jealous of forshoppin's ability. Awesome isn't it? I hope you are doing better on smiles today than you were yesterday. How about an extra 247 just for you today? Glad you like the thread. deichen leaves the coolest quotes, doesn't she? I so enjoy them too. I find myself putting them on a piece of paper, and I am going to put them all on 3x5 cards to keep them. I have yours too.....it reminds me that live is not to be taken so seriously.
crankyoldhag: I love your name.....reminds me of so many people that I know LOL.......Thanks for all the smiles you left yesterday...How totally cool of you. Please come back often, we need folks that can share all those smiles.....and anyone with that name has a great sense of humor to share.
craftalley: Hi to you too....Glad you joined us. Moving is so stressful, visit whenever you need a laugh or smile. Your name is perfect...Very clever, and catchy. I think corny runs in all families, only some of us just don't want to admit it. We are all so much the same to varying degrees. We will look for the other half of your thoughts, and save them for you. So nice to have you with us.
deichen: As always, your quote is so appreciated, and so cool. Be careful on that deck with all the flying critters so you don't get bit.
Fun link for the day! Did you know that all states have earthquakes each and every day? well you can track your state here. The United States Geological Survey. On May 4th, @ 1:42:12 Central Daylight Time there was a 4.4 Earthquake, 15 miles northeast of Conway, Arkansas.

I have time today to leave 8,499 Smiles, Hugs, and Laughs today. Need one, please take all you need, if not please leave some for the next person. Have a wonderful, happy and great day......Hope a smile crosses your path today.

Hey all! Life is going well and I am refusing to acknowledge anything different from that!!!!!
I guess that craftalley, the cranky OLD hag and myself are lucky as our mother taught us to sew and embroider when we turned 8 years old. Our grandmother taught us to crochet when we were a little older and even our brother has learned these lessons. He recently taught his bride to crochet!!!!!
I enjoy my craft work and it is my stress relief after a long day. I consider myself very fortunate to have the ability to offer my crafties on the auctions. It has given me a source of a little spending money (for more crafties) and I have met the most wonderful people.
I also enjoy you all and the encouragement, etc that you offer. This thread has been wonderful as we are all quick to say something bad or negative but not so quick with compliments and congratulations. Some days the laughs, smiles and appreciation shown here was what kept me on track.
