Hi Talon hows that lil one?
I personally think the commercial was a great idea! I wish it covered a broader area though (and animal fur, to the best of my knowledge, is dyed using temporary vegitable based dye)
and the cruiser... I'm sure it had its problems but it did get the BB name out there. and that was the point.. besides its not my money that was used to fund the trip. And the wives (that were "allowed" and parents that went on the trip... thats none of my concern... But I wont question their parenting abilities or their morals. (wasnt Dr laura the one who said all homosexuals were "a biological error"?
Why do some people feel the need to find something bad in everything. I know alot of people who use the AW boards don't particularly like BB, and thats fine, but to try and pick apart each and every thing that they do? There are much better ways to spend the day.

Totally off topic but in defense of the accusation moderators: "wasnt Dr laura the one who said all homosexuals were "a biological error">
Yes she was and I agree. They were born that way and it was a biological error. Now I will make no further comment on that.
It was also she who said and I agree "The 90's brought the end to MORAL outrage".
To anyone : I might also add that if you don't like what is read and said here, you SURELY don't have to look. Ta ta for now.

My point was...(although I'm sure that children born with a disability would love to be thought of as errors)
Some people make a point to browse the BB boards for the sole purpose of finding ammunition to bash them with here.
I'm not talking about.. actually figuring out the numbers etc...as I'm sure those posts are meant to be informative. But the commercial? Someone made a positive remark and sure enough people jumped at the chance to again bash the site.

I would like to hear more about the Pink dog ,sounds very creative advertisement?I heard about that Pt trip and said, Hmm, I never have seen this on any other auction site, sounds exciting to me. Allycat, May I ask what does pit pit puff mean at the end of your messages?
posted on May 11, 2001 11:04:36 AM new
You certainly may! Although it isn't PIT PIT PFH.
That is the written word for the sound a cat makes when it's hair rises on its back and it snarls. If you have never heard it, then I don't know what else to tell ya.

Are we now comparing children with disabilities and homosexuals? Shame shame on this forum! My daughter has a disability and she's not homosexual at all!
What a disgrace to have an animal's fur dyed to become a money maker. I wonder if anyone who spouted off about movie dogs ever heard that the Animal Right's Activists were there supervising the whole thing to make sure vegetable dye was really used. I wonder if the poster here claiming that BidBay used vegetable dye was there when that poor dog was dyed pink.
Someone said people here cruise the BidBay boards to find things to pick apart. Uhmmm, we're not allowed to quote from that board, so nothing that is being said by me or some others have anything to do with those boards. However, may we make the same assumption about those on BidBay that come here to bash the "non-followers?"
I am a non-follower and I'm proud! Nothing could lure me back there, not money, not sweet-talk and not prizes. The site actually makes me ill and I would not even read any of the boards if some of it wasn't called to my attention by one of the followers. The some being posts about and regarding me.
So, if anyone here wants to blanket all users in their accusations, fine. Just count me out!

You know what??? I don't give a rats behind what they dye pink!!! The possibilities are endless!!!! LOL

Mtnmama, I was not comparing disabilities with homosexuality... I used that example because a post stated that dr laura was admired .. I in turn made a statment that she (dr laura) was the same person who said homosexality was a biological error..... the reply was "they are born with it it is a biological error.. that was the only similarity.. if one is not the norm are they somehow less perfect? or as was stated an error?
My best friend is epileptic and I do not consider her to be a biological error, which is why this upset me so.
Now on to the dog, I would certainly hope that vegitable dye was used... if not then I will be the first one to protest! Was the commercial silly? yep probably.. but more importantly was it a good advertising mechanism? most definitly.
People love animals and children ... I know they catch my eye while watching television.
If it came across that I was somehow insulting people with disablities please except my sincerist apologies. It was not my intent... I was comparing birth anomalies. nothing more nothing less.

Nice try pOE. But epilepsy is not a disability, it's a disease. Homosexuality is chosen, not a birth disorder, not an error. Dr. Laura has made some good points, but all in all, there's something wrong with her thinking. I don't agree with all she says although I find her humorous. She's since been cancelled from our local stations, so I don't get to laugh at her as much any more.
But you're going on and on is only making things worse for people who have children with true disabilities.

Epilepsy is very disabiling, you do not know when it its going to strike?
I believe god created them and they were born with no choice of the gender preferences, has to do with generics.
I 'm sure anyone that owns a pet does not want a permently pink poolde dog,but hey it is the future .They are doing all types of different things these day in comparsion, even people. Sorry person in charge if I got a bit off subject matter.

Yes, disabling but treatable most of the time in most cases.
Still hardly anyone is born with it. It usually develops sometime in life, not in the womb. Whereas, learning disabilities, and other disabilities of the brain usually begin in the womb. Sorry to disagree. I have a more than a few friends with epilepsy and none were born with it. One friend developed it at age 23, another at age 35, still another at age 15, and the last one at age 53. All were without any signs until then.

Mercy, it must be nice to be so self-righteouos that no matter what you say or do, you will always be able to convince yourself you are right (not naming any names, naturally, I meant this in general terms. Don't we all?)
Where do you all get your definitions and classifications from? A person with epilepsy is not considered mentally or physically impaired in the same way as a child with another disability? Hmm . .then someone better explain that to all my daughters' medical specialists and teachers. She was born with a condition that causes her epilepsy. As in most medical conditions, epilepsy is an umbrella term that covers a wide range of people with mild epileptic seizures to those severely impaired by their frequent seizures.
And if everyone here is so devoted to their families and putting their spouses and children first, how on earth do you find the time to post in chat so much?!!

mtnmama if you will scroll up you will see that I was not the the one that suggested that homosexuality was a birth defect!
And my friend was born with it, she just finished the last available drug treatment so that the hmo she has might cover the brain surgery she feels she needs.

They treated homosexuality with a drug??????? Wow! What they can do these days with medicine!!!

Mt tell me how it develops? inheritant diseases, are set up in our genetics and come forward at any time in ones life if you have a history of them in your family,. it could go back several years or in any case several generations later. They can pop up at any time in ones life time.
Ally kat picking on my typing and spelling, what do you think everyone is perfect?
So much for being postive and talking about pink poodles and the creative aspects of one company .

I wonder what kind of drugs, the poor pink poodle has to take? Imagine how he/she must feel? I hope the mirrors have all been removed from the poodle palace. The shame!

Pet, this is not to insult your spelling or anything, but you keep using the word generics, which is a pharmaceutical term. You mean to use the word genetics. Yes, it is genetic at times. However, two of the people I mentioned above did not have any thing in the families for generations back that linked to the gene. It came as a shock to all!
Plus my daughter has a nontreatable brain defect. It cannot be treated at all with drugs of any kind, nor can it be treated with surgery. She just has to live with it and compensate for it. No one really knows how why she was born with it as there is no evidence of any kind of brain defects in either of our families. Just one of those freak accidents I guess.

Ally, I will disreguard that last comment.. as I know what a wonderful sence of humor you have
Pet, I have found nearly impossible to post anything good about BB on this board.. While I do try to absorb the few posts that try to address BBs numbers and contests(because I think those are important issues) most just bash it and anyone who has anything positive to say.
I too think the commercial was a good idea..(again I just wish it covered a broader area)

Lady Poetic,
Is your friend seriously considering surgery? We should chat through email. My daughter has had three surgeries to help control and improve her epilepsy.
Also, I would like to forward a letter to you I received from someone on this thread to give you and idea of what you are dealing with here. After you read it, I am sure you will agree, this isn't worth your time.
It's just a letter from me telling her to cease and desist all comments and activity pertaining to me and my family, not to have any contact, etc.
It also explains to her that she doesn't know it all about learning disabilities that are untreatable with drugs or surgery. Sheesh! Everyone is a doctor these days.
Anyway, you know who you're dealing with. However, she was a friend that turned coated on me the first chance she got. I only wish I had not made her that BidBay banner. Talk about hard work for such a few BidBay bucks. She has made snide comments about me everywhere she goes and people are beginning to wonder just who she is and why she's doing this.
I tell them not to care, because she knows why she acts this way. And so do I. And so does at least one other person in her life. Sad.

Mtnmama,
Her siezures are so bad (she has 3 to 5 severe ones per day) it was recomended she have brain surgery to try and correct it. but the insurance she has will not allow her to get it unless all available treatments are explored.

edited to thank ally for the spelling lesson I will be sure to return the favor
Catie, I think she is at her wits end.. she has tried everything, and nothing seems to work.

ROFL! And I thought this was going to be a boring night . . . It seems very appropriate that the last post was under a heading about pink poodles.
This is my last post. I have to get back to work. A peaceful night all.
I think allykat will have more to discuss with you on this subject than I. She has vast experiences with your friend's illness. I'm sorry she has so many seizures and insurance can sure be a pain, but at least she has options, right? My daughter has no options. She has to learn to live with what God dealt her and try to survive as best as she can. She knows I won't always be here and is trying so very hard to learn how to do many things. It's so hard to explain. I only hope I can live long enough to be there for her.
Good luck to you! You and I have always been able to agree to disagree and come out friends. Let's not let one sore loser ruin it for us, okay? We know better
