Is a naked human breast an obscene sight? Would a naked human breast sexually arouse anyone if most women did go around wearing no clothes above the hips?

Consider that in Victorian Times, women covered up so much that it was known that the sight of a woman peeling off her gloves and exposing her naked hands was enough to cause spontaneous orgasms in some men. The sight of a woman's leg was considered so sexually revealing that even the word 'leg" was inhibited from polite conversation and women were known to faint at the vulgarity of the mere pronouncement of this noun.

When I was a teen and in my twenties (and reasonably in shape), I used to enjoy taking my dates to the nude beaches. There, I quickly learned a few things:

+ After the first few minutes, you don't feel odd about being naked around a group of people --- who also happen to be naked as well.

+ Nobody gives a damn if you are naked, fat and ugly or vital and pretty.

+ Most people look better with some clothing on.

There are several small towns in the south of France where women may legally go about topless. Strangely, those towns have not become havens for perverts or college kids at Spring Break. Go figure!

So, do you believe that women have enough of a right to go topless in public if they so choose?

Well, I for one would look a lot younger if I walked around topless (as in pre-pubescent).
Then again, people may also think I'm male.
Perhaps I would need to be a nekkid floozie so as not to confuse the general public.
BTW, I would love to be so empowered as to cause spontaneous orgasms by taking off a glove (or mitten )

Tough call. I'll say no simply due to my personal feeling that it would destroy the mystique.

There's also the danger that women with truly awful breasts would be parading them around. But by the same token, I believe some men should not be allowed to go around topless either.

Can you imagine?

And you thought there was an uproar when we burned our bras!!!!

Trust me...you don't want the women who burned their bras to go around topless. LOL

From my few experiences in Germany, I think it's really no big deal....the US is so puritanical in certain ways...

IMO, women can be a lot sexier if suggestively clothed...leave something to my imagination...

Nothing like a nice up-do, linen business suit, silk blouse and nice bra......now that they should outlaw! *G*

Maybe my opinion will change now that I'm married...hehehe

Most men should not be allowed to wear Speedos, but that's not against the law....

It's aheay issue, but I think that in the interest of equality the right needs support.

Hepburn, is plumber's butt not bad enough?

Femme, those things curdled my breakfast at the beach more than once. Some interesting sunburns though.

It's legal here in Canada, but I've never seen anyone try it. I think it's really meant for at the beach.

I read somewhere that in Columbus, Ohio it is legal for women to go topless. But it is legal as a matter of equal rights. If it is not legal for women to go topless, then it must also be illegal for men to go topless, at pools or in public.

Let's hear it for eaual rights !!

O.K. So, who are you really? And, what did you do with the real Borillar?

I don't see a single Republican slam in this whole thread.

We aren't fooled so easily, ya know.

If the olives is all you can make out, they probably are smugglers.

Borillar,
Considering the subject matter, your questions are incomplete. Is a naked human breast an obscene sight in a Hustler magazine, or an obscene sight in a National Geographic article coverage in Africa? First question yes, the second question, no. Culture depending, does make a difference on how people dress or don't dress. That's just the way it is. There are cultures around the globe where people (men and women) live half or full naked and think nothing of it because that's how they have lived for centuries. The Human female breast is not an object of arousal as it is for function, meaning, a woman breast feeding her young. Here in America, the mammary glands are an object of worship by men in general. Not surprisingly, there are even women who have men foot fetishes as well (among other parts) so it goes both ways. What poisons the idea of a naked American society is the large volumes of pornography that American men are drawn to and ingest. It destroys our lives and our families. There is a mountain of proof on that and an inexhaustible number of testimonials to the fact. Growing up, it was a real big problem for me!!

I think you're right about the Victorian times, such a stoic and "proper" age. Again, that was an expected culture norm at that time. I don't agree with it, but culturally that's where they were at. The women had to hide everything. They couldn't wear their long hair down around the shoulders (if she did she was considered a slut) but tied up oftentimes inside a hat. Many or most had to wear bone corsets for that painful "hour-glass" figure and dresses that were long with high laced boots tighter and narrower than the corsets! A woman was not allowed to even show off her ankles in those days. I don't know the real reasons for such strictness. It could have been to delete any possible arousal in the male population, or some greatly misinterpreted and poorly misunderstood verse from the Bible.

Nude beaches are more of a subculture within the culture. As many as those who go there to enjoy the beach without any clothes, there are also others too who reap sensual enjoyment from seeing human genitalia in all its freedom and glory. You will never know what's really in a person's mind even though you think you do!

I can remember the Benny Hill show back in the 70s. He ALWAYS had that blonde big breasted naked lady standing at the window of an upstairs apartment in at least one segment of every episode. As a kid I was shocked every time I saw it, but I later realized the Europeans have a much greater acceptance of naked female exposure then we do in the west. Again, I don't agree with the European more.

No, I don't believe that women have enough of a right to go topless in public if they so choose anymore then men have the right to go bottomless in public.

Bottomless is completely different than topless so to make that comparison doesn't cut it....

it wasn't really so long ago that men had to wear bathing suit tops

Y E S !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do all the time at the beach. Of course, I have to be at the 'right' beach to do it. Other times it's my own backyard. No neighbors so don't worry.

What do you mean by this?

"No, I don't believe that women have enough of a right to go topless in public if they so choose anymore then men have the right to go bottomless in public."

Fer shame, fer shame, fer shame on such obsolete chauvinistic thinking! OMG! Do YOU wear a bathing suit top? Matter of fact, I think woman have the right to go bottomless if they so choose. What's the difference between a g-string and nothing? Not much..I do both!

Up with nude beaches, down with prudes!

What's up with UBB?

Quality is always preferable to quantity......

Of course, quantity can have a quality all its own....

Barring non-essential prosthetics, that is.

Is this a male or female we're talking about now, has there been a gender change? Age could be a deciding factor as to what looks smuggled, and by whom?

Well, all I know is that I see a lot of fat guys running around with their shirts off that have bigger boobs than many women I know. So maybe the question should be "Should ANYONE be allowed to go around topless?". Frankly, I say no. Well, except for those cute construction workers...

My husband gave a resounding YES! to this question. UNTIL I pointed out that not all the women running around would look like Britney Spears or Pamela Lee

Myself. No. I get enough stares with clothes ON. I like to leave them to the imagination. It works for me.
