It is still the law in strict Moslem countries that a man can not go with bare arms or legs.
In Afganistan they invited the Pakistani soccor team to come play but when they came on the field in shorts they were taken off the field and had their heads shaved which is a ritual humiliation there and were sent home.

Speaking of B. Spears what did people think of the Pepsi commercial with Brittany and then Bob Dole flashing on the screen with his dog saying "Whoa BoY"???

Wasn't there previously a Pepsi commercial featuring Bob Dole that parodied/implied that it was advertising Viagra, then pulled a switcheroo at the end and let you know it was for Pepsi? Don't think I saw it, but I heard about it.
Tells it like it is if you ask me. Brittany is teen porn. Teaching a new generation of girls to aspire to be porn stars. So much for Janet Jackson's Control message -- one step forward, two steps back. Surprised that Bob Dole has signed on. Though I suppose what else does he have to do.

I wore hiphuggers when a teen. They are all the rage now. Been there, done that back in the 70's. I flaunted what I had back then, no different than they are doing now. Only difference between then and now is we are now our mothers and fathers, lol.

Looking back at how the Victorians were about covering everything up, we laugh at such absurdities. The question then becomess: what do we cover up now that future generations would look at as absurdities?
I think that covering up the genitalia will always be appropriate in America. Even in the most primative cultures on earth where topless is the norm, bare gentalia is not alwyas acceptable.
However, the idea of a human breast being an obscene sight or a sexual turn-on is just as ridiculous as the Victorians were with naked hands and bare ankles. IMO, it is just flat-out wrong to classify the human breast as anything other than what it was meant to be. Surely here is one ill-conceived barrier that needs to be dropped!
But just like at nude beaches that I've participated at, not eveyone goes 100% nude, so in society and down the streets one would not expect everyone to go topless. Weather certainly is one factor, on the job would be another as both men and women wouldn't like to get something stuck in the fax machine! Of course, just as there are those who would not wear a two-piece bathing suit at the beach, I feel that not every woman would run around without a top off in the middle of summer while doing the shopping!
But shouldn't the rights of a person be expanded to the appropriate boundries? A matter of health, of good weather, of saftey ought to be sensible boundries, not "good taste" as that changes from one person to the next. Should you cover up your legs all the time and everywhere you go if the occasional passer-by were to feel sexualy aroused by the sight of them? It ought to be the same way with going topless in my opinion.

If a woman wants to go topless, its their porogative. I've seen some men with bigger breasts than women (scary sight). Yes there is a difference but its the principle. Now I already have a problem with alot of men trying to hold a conversation with my chest than with me so I don't think I would go topless.
In Victorian times, yes women was not suppose to show anything, but they wore the corset to accentuate the most sensual part of the woman's body. (breasts, and hips giving the hourglass figure) Now Iv'e worn Victorian, 17th century, and renaissance gowns. The corset isn't painful but very constricting. Movement is quite hard, and forget about breathing. Now I know why women were known to faint alot during those times, I felt very light headed on more than one occasion.
*sigh* the perils of being a woman. ;D

All Hail! The Topless 7 of New York that won the case! (Gosh, a decade ago!) Um, not everyone should be allowed to go topless though. That was evident in the demonstration, ahem...
