Thanks Granee, I went in to fix my thumbnails and hope all are fixed. I didn't realize I had to download them at Yahoo. Thanks for the info.

VeryModern,

I'd totally forgotten about the Post Office increase Jan. 1st---GAG!!!

You're right, higher shipping costs will DEFINITELY hurt our sales as buyers realize they should bid less to compensate for the postage hike. All the higher costs ULTIMATELY come out of the seller's pocket.

We took our kids to Disney World before Thanksgiving, so I've been away for 10 days. (It was a mistake....half the country was there, too; Disney didn't extend park hours or add shows; and prices were through the roof. We went to Wal-Mart to buy our souvenirs, where everything was 1/2 to 2/3 off Disney's prices.)

Guess I'll go list all my antique jewelry and HOPE for Christmas sales.

yeah granee - the postage increase is going to shrink the pool of buyers *and* sellers for sure. Some buyers are going to see *at least* $4 added onto anything they might want to buy online from any source and simply quit looking all together. I am not just talking auctions. I am talking Amazon, etoys or where ever.

Hi again all.

Well as this month comes to a close I can say that I for one have had a very good month. The best one so far in my year and half of selling online. BUT.. it was not due Featured Auctions. I have had bids on 2 featured items, and like I said before, one was a repeat customer that came to look at my items, not because it was featured.

Maybe I will just save my featured credits for later, after the new has worn off.

One category I sell in this morning had 175 pages of nothing but Featured Auctions! Talk about getting lost in the shuffle! There is really no point in listing a featured item in that category right now. If someone doesn't find you but running a search on certain items then you don't have a very good chance of having your item seen anyway.

By the way, although I have had a good month as far as Yahoo goes, the majority of my sales have been on Ebay.

175 pages of featured auctions?? Hmmmmm, I know I'm probably being overly optimistic here, but maybe that in itself will encourage bidders to use the search more...and maybe I'll get lucky and my items will actually show up in the search engine.

I know it sounds awful! 175 pages! I thought I was looking at it wrong, but I went back and double checked because I jsut couldn't believe it. But it was true.

Gosh, how would a person ever see a auction that wasn't featured!

I know that a lot of my sales come from the search feature, I sure hope people keep using it!

I just went and checked the status of the catagory.

It stands right now at 174 pages, 8524 listing on those pages!

Now really, what is the point of listing a any auction right now in that catagory, featured or not, without the search your item is not going to be seen anyway.

The catagory is Holiday Seasonal - Christmas - Other.

Talk about swamped!

jwoodcrafts, got you beat on that one.
Dolls other has 236 pages of featured...
Those other catagories are a killer when there is no place else to put it.

Description description description, and hope people search.

I know, Joan, these days I have been throwing most of my "dolls- other" on Ebay. Outages or not, at least the stuff has a fighting chance there.

cagrrl-
I'm stubborn, won't give Epay any more of my monies ever. They bleed me dry and I gave up when the it's only a buck speech was made.
I have found though what goes around comes around on yahoo and eventually the items sell.
I just keep finding more things to move til these dolls do.
Or they will go to donations for Christmas.

that's the spirit joan! I admire you for taking a stand.

As for me, I have an agenda. I want OUT of the auction biz. So I'm working like crazy to try to get everything SOLD by Christmastime. That's my goal...so if that means I gotta grit my teeth & Ebay, so be it....
