What's that in celcius? The hottest weather I've ever been in was a couple of years back when it reached the early 40's (about 43 o or 45 o from memory...)

Let me go check, I can never remember the formula...

Well, tomorrow's forecast is for 106 F and that equals 41 C. So it gets hotter than that here. And stays that way from may to September. I never did find a melting smiley, but I found a sweating one! LOL

Excellent - lets swap!

Is it a dry or a humid kind of heat? (we have the humid kind)

LOL, the big joke over here is that Phoenix has a dry heat. Which is true, but it's hotter than heck! I still wonder about the people who move here on purpose. I've lived here all my life and I hate summer. We do get the monsoon season in late July to mid August. That's when it gets humid and we get flash floods & lighting storms. But even then the humidity is about 50% or so. Not much compared to other parts of the country, but it sure feels miserable when it's 41 C outside!

So you've lived there all your life then? You should love it then being a 'native' and all

I've lived on the Gold Coast for most of my life so the summers don't bother me at all. I feel sorry for my parents though... they've never gotten used to it (they came up from Melbourne) and have the air conditioner on all day. The electricity bills get quite high as a result. Some years we also have load shedding (sp??) because of so many people using air conditioners all day.

They way we cope with the heat here is to go from our air conditioned house, to our air conditioned car, to our air conditioned job. Our electric bills get outrageous here, but not as bad as California at the moment with all their problems. Plus I'm a wimp, I keep it turned down pretty low. Besides, Mom & Dad can't have it too warm either.

Ok, what is load shedding??

Load shedding is where certain areas will take it in turns and have their electricity cut during peak hours. Basically to stop overload and blowing something up I think

Don't ask me who makes these decisions but I bet that where they live never gets their power cut

That's what they've been doing in California. They call them rolling blackouts, because they do one power grid at a time. That would really suck here in the middle of summer.

So that's what a rolling blackout is! I've been hearing jokes about them on US talk shows but never knew what the heck they were talking about!

Well... you learn something every day!

Well, you moved and left no forwarding address. Pretty tricky....but I found you.
Netta I haven't been able to catch up on all that has been going on but, I wanted to let you know how badly I felt about the theft of your expensive splitter. Damn you work hard and get ripped off, it is so unfair. I also remember you mentioning some time ago about a strange person who came by your place and was asking a lot of questions about your business. Is he on the list of people the police will be checking out? It just sounded so odd, when you were telling about your encounter with him, he was the first one that came into my mind when I read about the theft.

On a happier note I wanted to tell you I was finally able to take your box of goodies out of the refrigerator and to the Post Office on Monday May 7. Thank goodness I got it out
that day as the temperatures went back up to 95 and 98 the rest of the week. This has been the hottest (on a continuing basis) spring I can remember. Anyway 7 to 10 days from that date it should arrive. I am hoping the chocolate will have made it in good order.

Your box has been a treasure to explore and enjoy. I just have thoroughly enjoyed each morsel, the TimTams are all you said they were, cherry ripe-yum, Wagon Wheels yum yum.
The funny thing is I was looking for a biscuit that we have which has a dome of marshmallow and a dollop of raspberry and coated with dark chocolate (only one bisquit on the bottom) unfortunately they don't stock them except in the cooler months...ironic tho they are similar to what you sent.Oh, and the breakfast bars are really great, love apricot. The Koala key chain is adorable, and the dishtowel and cloth with the little animals. The books are wonderful, really great photography. Smashing job you did...the freezer and refrige are well stocked and I am being good and sharing some with DH (some not all.)I am also being carful not to over indulge so that the yummies will last a while. Thank you so much.

Hi Zilvy, glad you found us! You must have missed my mom's truck getting totaled Sat. night. Where was that...hang on. Ah yes, it was on page 60 of the old thread. I hope this link works: http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=28&thread=79351&id=89411
I just love the Bix Bars, I'm addicted to them! I like the apricot too, my favorite flavor. Pharlap, she's so sweet, sent me 3 boxes of them in my last package!

Well, I'll be fading in and out until our a/c gets fixed. I can't seem to keep my eyes open for long, not to mention I'm puffing up like a puffer fish! My feet & ankles are killing me.

Nearly time for bed for me but thought I'd just say hello and let you know that I'm still in the land of the living. LOL.

Hi gang, I haven't been around much for the last few days.
I have so much work on at the moment that it's not funny! In fact I'm busier than a one armed fiddle player.
I keep lurking from time to time, just to stay abreast of what's happening, so I'm not quite MIA. Of course I'm also on the golf course a lot at the moment. There's an awful lot of tournaments on right now and that involves a lot of travelling!

Bob, Downunder but never down.
