Yesterday, I received my credit card statement and on it were 3 transactions made to FAIRMARKET INC. I called them to find out why the charged my credit card and they informed me to call my credit card to have it cancelled. They said that someone was using my card to list items on NYC AUCTION and NBCI AUCTION. They wouldn't give out the name of who the person was, but they did say that it is very comman called historical theft. They told me that they will give the authorities all the information that they have on the person who used my card.
I never thought that something like this could happen to me. I am by no means wealthy, I only buy things on the computer from secure sights.
I just wanted to share that there are people going around selling things on the auctions with credit cards and probably merchandise that they do not own.

i wonder with the dot.com mania at one time, there were not enough programmers and other technical personnel to do the work and many companies use outside contractors.
these contractors or layoff employees of trouble companies/folded companies have confidential information and now using them to commit fraud.
i recall some of us recently received an email from paypal saying there is a 10 dollars award waiting for us ,just click on this hyperlink.
some of us did,and there is a screen which asked for our email addr and password which i foilishly typed in.
then the screen went blank.
at that time,i thought it was just another computer glitch until someone mentioned he has the same experience and wondered what happened??
someone must know enough of how paypal works to set this up.
of course anyone can set up a website which looks like paypal and just ask us to type in email addr and password.
but to use that information further requires knowledge of paypal system,i believe the objective is to go into our account and move the money out either to another account, another bank account or ask paypal to empty the account and send a check to somewhere else.
i dont recall which thread i read this, but i believe it is on auctionwatch someone said he found money missing in his paypal account.
i would like to know who set this website up and if he/they been caught??
