I contacted you on May 30 complaining about fraud by Half Price.com storefront managed by AuctionWatch. I sent you information about the store front and I am trying to recover $419.85 paid by me for merchandise. I have no information about the merchandise and the seller has disappeared.
As of Today, the store front is still operational and processing merchandise sale. You have done nothing so far. At the same time, you give the false impression of providing service with all the gizmos on your web site. As far as I can see, all you are doing is providing questionable individuals a means to commit fraud on your store front. You are not able to even update me as to what is being done when I have lost $419.85 on your web site.

AuctionWatch.com Reply #1:

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with the support you need
since we are a third-party provider and are not directly involved with
any buyer/seller transactions.

We urge you to please contact the seller directly regarding this issue.
If you are unable to reach the seller, please contact the Customer
Service department of the auction site on which the sale took place.

AuctionWatch.com Reply #2:

We are sincerely sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with one of
our StoreFront sellers. We have disabled the account as a precautionary
measure until such time as we hear back from the seller in question.

We urge you to contact your local authorities in regards to this, as an
investigation may be warranted. In addition, if you made the payment by
credit card, please contact your credit card company immediately in order to
dispute the charges.

We wish you the best of luck in getting this resolved.

HERE'S MY 2 CENTS WORTH:

Let's cut to the chase and skip the sincerity you display in your message. If
all the information you have on the seller (Name, Address, Telephone Number) is
nothing more than what is posted on Half Price.com store front, you are the
most useless piece of e-commerce site which does nothing to protect the consumer. You will be waiting an eternity for response becuase you don't even know who the seller is.

And, yeah, the last bit of advice about the authorities and credit card company really helps ! It's a pleasure to do business on AuctionWatch.com store front ! Lose $419.85 and go see the authorities !

I have an idea ! It is time to report AuctionWatch.com to Consumer Protection
Agency.

Are you sure AuctionWatch.com conducts verification of identity (Driver License Information) of sellers on their Store Fronts as standard procedure ? I am very frustrated because I don't think even this minimum verification check is conducted.

The standard procedure is "GO SEE THE AUTHORITIES" as was the case with me. That's why AuctionWatch.com are the real culprits !

Hello hnjgsy,

You are understandably upset - however, please note that we will cooperate fully with any law enforcement agency that contacts us regarding a fraud issue. We strongly urge you to pursue this matter with the authorities.

Regards,

Diana

I'm with you - they (Auction Watch) provides absolutely no consumer protection.

Did you really expect any? I mean it is Auctionwatch you're talking about here...I fully expect a variation on eBay's "we're only a venue" line to pop up here pretty soon, if it already hasn't.

Lets get the message out there that this is not a site to do any sort of business on. I'm writing to "Yahoo Internet Life" and "PC World". Others should do the same.

AuctionWatch,

As far as I am concerned, AuctionWatch should not even be in the business of Store Fronts for the following reasons:

Definition of AuctionWatch Store Front:
A store it is not, a front for people to disappear into the ether with your money.
eFraud would be more appropriate

Concept of AuctionWatch Store Front:
Just a collection of web pages with graphics that AuctionWatch provides for a small fee.
Store Fronts are hosted by AuctionWatch. AuctionWatch gives the impression that it processes your order and sends you e-mail.
AuctionWatch insists they are third party and not involved in the transaction.

Q: Who is the Store Front ?
A: Even AuctionWatch does not know. If you lose money, REPORT TO THE AUTHORITIES !
Q: What is the Store Front selling ?
A: Great Graphics ! AuctionWatch does not care !
Q: Who are the buyers ?
A: No one knows.
Q: Is there recourse if you have problem with Store Front (You know the kind I am talking about) ?
A: AuctionWatch Solution- Report to the authorities.

So there you have it in a nutshell all about AuctionWatch Store Fronts !
