I like many have read the posts and didn't think it would happen to me.I am an honest 45 yo mother of 2 who sells on ebay. Until last week I would of recomended Paypal to anyone. Its easy, fast, etc.etc.
I had a large order for some wireless security cams. I called paypal to let them know that I would have some unusually high priced transactions coming up. Trying to prevent any hold ups in processing. They said they would note the account. after this transaction someone with (0) feedback paid for 3 computers via paypal. They had not been confirmed so, I sent them an e-mail explaining why I could not ship and refunded the money. The customer got thier account confirmed and then resent the money. Then they e-mailed me telling me that ebay had taken the money from thier checking account and not thier credit card. Again, I called PayPal to tell them what was going on and to make sure I was not about to get ripped off.
Well, I got ripped off but, not from lady wanting 3 computers. PayPal limited my account and sent the suspicious activity and limited account e-mails. 14 faxes of personal info. 29 e-mails, and 9hrs. on the phone I am nowhere. They have frozen $7900.00 in my Paypal account and the crystal ball tells me that by the time the #*!@ hits the fan in the class action suits. Paypal will look like Enron. I am looking for anyone who has successfully received there funds back from Paypal. Meantime, I will file a small claims action for $5,000.00 here in my hometown. The Terms of service contract is Bunk and a california judge has ruled it so. I think I stand a better chance of getting my cash back here than in the class action. Anyone with help would be appreciated. M.Miller

is there enough fund in their checking account??
has the fund cleared? It takes 2-4 days for the fund to clear.
Since you have not shipped anything, you have nothing to lose.
(I would guess something is not right on your buyer end)

for 7900 dollars transaction, shipping to confirmed addr with trackable DC is not good enough, you also need signature receipt.
If the buyer used a stolen credit card, there is no seller protection, you lose the charge plus 10 dollars chargeback fee.
Even if this is not a stolen card but for some reason buyer files chargeback and paypal presents your evidence and you lose, paypal is not going to protect you.
If i were you,i will be cautious.
