What is the Best Auction Software?
I have been doing internet auctions for for a while.
I have spent a small fortune on Auction software.
Some ok and some not.
I would like to get other peoples experience and ask them to rate the software by answering the questions below, and adding comments..
Please provide the name of the software and where to obtain it.
I want to find Auction software that is great and does it all.
When you rate it consider the following.
1) Ease of use
2) Ability of user to change links and URL's to auctions, sense some change regularly.
3) Features, list them all.
4) Customer service for the software
5) Warranty
6) What you liked about the software
7) What you don't like about the software
8) Addtional comments.

I have been using for the past six months a program called AuctionTamer. It has a browser with a built in auction watch list. You can download it for a free 30 day trial. It cost $19.95 for the registration key. However, for the next few months the makers of the program are giving away the registration key FREE!!. Sounds like a good deal. Here’s the link to their site:

Looks like interesting software for bidders. Too bad it doesn't work with Auctions.Com......

As the one who has spent a small fortune, I was hoping you had a suggestion or two. I'm new to this, and not even sure what types of applications there are. An auction manager (from the first reply) sounds like one. What else is there?

Well, if you are a merchant or just sell a lot of stuff, you can sign up for one of Auctions.Com's Merchant packages which includes access to the Merchant Manager, an online Java application for posting and tracking auctions. Other than that there are no software packages that will work with Auctions.Com.....that I know of at least.

Interesting site and offer but "hardly free."
I went by the site and checked it out and yes, they are waiving the setup and monthly subscription fees but they still will charge an EOA fee that is among the highest in the business.
It is carried under section (iii) of fees and it is a 5 percent transaction Fee. It says, "You will pay to Bidland a transaction fee of five percent (5%) of the gross sales price of each item sold in a successful auction."
The real kicker though is in the very first paragraph of the user agreement. It says,
1. Exclusive Status. During the Term (as hereinafter defined), Bidland will be the exclusive auction solution provider or provider of similar functionality on Your Resident Auction Site. In furtherance and not in limitation of the foregoing, You will not (a) establish an auction solution or similar functionality (such as soliciting, evaluating, processing or accepting bids) on any Website(s) or Web page(s), (b) offer any items for sale using any auction-style method or technology, (c) post notices or otherwise engage in electronic commerce on any other auction Web site or online service of any kind, or (d) create or place any advertisement, promotional button, affiliation or link in any area of Your Resident AuctionSite which links to or otherwise promotes or references any other Website or Web page which offers the ability to offer items for sale by auction or similar method.
It would appear that folks already selling on any other auction site would have to suspend activity.
This kind of makes eBay's effort to remove third party advertising in their auctions seem rather mild in comparison.
