I was very disappointed to see this auction posted on your \"Top 10
Bizarre Auctions\" list.
This was obviously put on the auction site as a cruel joke against a
kid. A smart, geeky looking young man does not need to be ridiculed like
this in any way, especially not plastered across the internet.
It is my opinion whoever chose to add this to the list increased
exposure of this cruelty and added to this kid\'s humiliation.
\"Walk a mile in another\'s shoes\".
Bullying is not funny. Humiliation is not funny. We as a society need to
start valuing all people. We need to stop judging others, even brainy 17
year old virgins.
Sincerely,
Kay Lyon
Now we\'re getting to the good stuff. It\'s a given that eBay is known
for hosting some pretty oddball auctions from time to time. But
according to a report from Salon, a relatively recent auction went
beyond the realm of merely quirky and crossed over into truly
outlandish.
Seventeen-year-old Miami high school senior XXXXXXXXXXX wanted
to hawk his virginity to the highest bidder--\"the right woman (or man,
I\'m willing to experiment)\"--with a bargain starting bid of only $10.
Among Francis\' selling points: he\'s a member of the National Honor
Society and plays lead trumpet in a jazz band. He\'s accommodating, too:
\"If you live in Florida, I could probably meet you halfway up to
Orlando in my 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback,\" he wrote in his auction
description.
Alas, the auction (launched late at night) was taken down less than 24
hours after it was listed. Our attempts to find out whether FXXXX'
merchandise remains intact were unsuccessful.
