Hello, I am the lead coordinator for Double Wide Sideshows, a seasonal traveling circuis.
I am looking for an ape.
Preferably a vegetarian.
Preferably for purchase but rental would work for the upcoming season.
I am looking for a silverback ape.
Non-violent, understands basic english.
Must get along with midgets.
This is for ornamental purposes and the ape will not be required to perform any tricks.
Best conditions guaranteed.

I've often dreamed of running away and joining the circus, I may just qualify as well.

Does it pay well?

Valerie:

This is an interesting, but notably odd post. Still, I make it a point to respond to all inquiries:-)

This may have been directed to may anyway; I've been referred to in the press as a "gorilla" marketer:-)

Compelled to respond here I go.

Gorillas, as you know, pretty much think of themselves as the king of the jungle. They are territorial and fortunately for the species, their range is typically not continental.

Still, the fact you've already obtained a response from Mark suggests this could be a sideshow worth watching, although I doubt if it will ever attain the attention that online auctions have.

Still, your business is show biz. You've got to have a headliner ape -- a handsome beast if you will -- to get your point across.

You are also obviously are looking for a civilized ape, the kind who not only understands English, but might even be aware enough to be a big fan of animal rights activist Bob Barker.

Most of the gorillas with which I'm acquainted prefer substance over style. They may spend hours grooming their bretherin, even if they are not being groomed properly themselves. But no matter, they're not overly prideful animals.

The apes I know live not in doublewides and they do have a disdain for c-notes dragged through trailer parks. Bimbos they arn't.

As I think about it, if I were looking for a show gorilla that preferred style over substance, I might look closer to the west coast, particularly, Valerie, since you're located in San Franscisco.

Indeed, the chances that your selected ape would indulge in a strict vegetarian diet would be greatly enhanced if the search were targeted there.

Finally, in regard to non-violence, I've never known a gorilla to become agitated except the presence of predatory beasts such as lions, tigers and sharks -- and then only when directly threatened. Midgets, I would observe, pose no such threat to the mighty ape. I tend to believe this is the result of the apes lack of respect for the law of the jungle.

Let me close this post by noting that the great apes' greatest asset and greatest liability are one in the same. Indeed, the great apes' curiosity is greater than that of the cat.

I wish you luck in your search for the perfect silverbacked ape. In my honest modesty, I see no such perfect ape among those I market:-)

Still, I hope I've helped.
