Hi folks:

I've put up a page promoting the auction soapies concept. I've had banners running here and some other places promoting the idea that folks should put short episodes in their auctions and string them together.

Anyway, what's got me wondering is that instead of the 70-80 daily visits I have been expecting, this page is suddently very popular with ten times the visits!

And I don't know why. Anyone have clue?

Hi pat - I was tickled to see your post about increased traffic.

Somebody or something has definately kicked up a little dust somewhere, and I'm not just blowing wind up your skirt.

As you know, I sell on AU, as well as on that other auction out there near the ocean. Since I can't figure out how to put "hit counters" on AU yet, I can only reference the traffic on the other site other than to say I've seen more bidding activity on AU.

My ramblings about eWoman, Worm and the gang here on the farm have been responsible for my items averaging about 110 hits each, over the run of a 7 day auction. That has shot up to an average of 145 or so. I'm anxious to see the totals for the month of October, since "monthly" is the figure I really pay attention to.

I'd really encourage other folks to get involved in your "Auction Soapies" program. First, because I've proven, at least to myself, that the increased traffic it can generate is phenomenal. And second, it's a heck of a lot more fun that writing "pretty dish - lovely dish - fantastic dish - over and over again. (I thought there for a while I'd go "brain-dead."

However, there is a down side. I get an average of about 100 emails every day related to the stories. I feel like everybody should receive an answer, and that takes some time. I'll admit though, I've sure made a lot of new friends.

We're all anxious to see the upcoming revamp at AU, especially that goofy "catagories monster." So keep up the good work, eat your vegetables, and don't forget to say "please" and "thank you."
(Now - Go get your work done.)

Pat and Ma:

It seems fairly simple to me - people are really interested in the ongoing saga of Ma and Worm and the rest of the gang! The banner ads are intriguing enough that folks who don't know what an "auction soapie" might be are going to find out.

I too am delighted to hear the news. I'd been considering listing on AU. Watched the action (or relative lack thereof) for a couple of weeks and decided "maybe not a good idea." No traffic.

So I will reserve judgment (okay, maybe even post a thing or two and test the waters).

Best of success!

Katie

ps to Ma: WHEN are we gonna get the wedding news???

(edited to add the PS)

Katie

The wedding is TODAY !
Insanity.

If we survive, I'm going to sleep and then write about it in the morning - or maybe late tonight - I don't know.
Right now, I have to go run some cold water on Elwood. He's supposed to give eWoman away, and it would be a long crawl from the edge of the woods to the altar.
Gotta go.

Ma:

Do you think that maybe someone figured out it was the wedding weekend but I really didn't think that folks would sit around and click through when there's all that celebrating going on.

Katie: I wish it was that simple ... I've been running the ads for a couple of weeks and the response has been good ... about 100 visitors a day to the single special page for auction soapies ... but we're talking about traffic zooming from that level to 1000+ visitors just yesterday. The day before was good too and today looks like its going to be another big traffic day.

This is more than just advertising and I'm trying to figure out what it is.

Pat
